Alex Burnett pitched brilliantly Wednesday night at Hammond Stadium, allowing only 2 hits and 3 walks while striking out 3 in route to leading the Fort Myers Miracle to a sweep of the Dunedin Blue Jays to capture he 2008 West Divsion Championship. The Miracle will now wait on the outcome of the Daytona/West Palm Beach series, which Daytona leads 1-game to none to determine their opponent for the FSL crown. Burnett would give up a double to David Cooper in the first inning but with two outs on the board got Cory Patton to ground out, stranding the runner. Hatch would single in the second, but Jesus Gonzalez ground into a double play, taking him out before he could get far. Adam Calderon would take a walk in the 3rd but Chris Emanuele ground into a double play to retire the side. Cooper and Patton both walked in the fourth, but were left stranded when Matt Liuzza flew out and Anthony Hatch popped out. |
