Gambling Review
This is a paid review
Gambling Review specializes in Online Casino reviews and aims to become the most comprehensive source for gambling related information.  The site has been offering reviews since 1998, but has recently been re-launched. The reviews are the personal opinion of the reviewer, but casinos can apply to have their website re-reviewed when they have improved areas of noted weakness.  Check out their top ten online casinos, as well as their featured online casino bonuses. Each of the top ten rated online casinos have lengthy reviews to help you better experience each.
They have very good introductions for all the more popular casino games including Baccarat, Backgammon, Bingo, Blackjack, Caribbean Poker, Craps, Keno, Pai Gow Poker, Poker, Roulette, Rummy, Slots, Texas Holdem and Video Poker. These introductions should be required reading for anybody just getting started with online gambling. They also have beginner guides that apply equally to most casino games. I found the Do's and Don'ts guide particularly valuable for newbs. Sometimes new players can be overwhelmed by the Internet, this guide will help you cut thru confusion and increase your enjoyment of the games.

This portal is quite new and I suspect it'll get much better quickly. They even have a brand new gambling blog where I'm sure you'll find great information in the coming months.

Conn Smythe Lottery

Most likely because of the lateness of the pick, quite often the winner of the Conn Smythe aware is not who it should be. Remember, they have to pick the winner in the 15 minutes following the game. I think if they waited a day, then you'd get a different winner almost half of the time. Here's my four disputes in recent history.

  1. J.S. Giguere v. Scott Niedermeyer in 2007. Red Wings killed the Ducks in the semi-finals and only lost because of superior goaltending by Giguere.
  2. Rod Brind'Amour v. Cam Ward in 2006. Rod led the Canes with 12 goals while taking almost every faceoff and playing almost half of every important game.
  3. Steve Yzerman v. Nicklas Lidstrom in 2002. Yzerman was the person that scored the goals when they were most needed.
  4. Mark Messier v. Brian Leetch in 1994. Leetch only won because he's American. This was an absolute joke. On the brink, Messier guaranteed a win and scored two goals in that game.

Doug Weight on Brandon Sutter

Devastating hit! From Doug Weight? I'm amazed at people who are speaking anything bad of this hit. Anybody with hockey knowledge knows that this is a 100% clean hit. Who'd a thought we'd be talking about Doug Weight delivering one of the most fierce hits of the season? Wow!

World Series Classic
Even with all the umpiring controversy, today's Game 4 of the World Series will go down as a classic in my mind. Game 4 had the highest TV rating of any MLB game ever, so I suspect many were also watching tonight and we'll be talking about it for the next few years. I'm sure the Phillies didn't want to win the World Series on a rain delayed game, regardless the umpires just saved the Rays' season.

MLB Umpires Suck
Forget the fact that the umpire just cost the Phillies the World Series by not delaying the game because of the typhoon, the overall umping in this series has once again been horrible. Too many obvious strikes are balls, obvious balls are strikes. One player was called out, then somehow awarded first base. Several bang-bang plays were missed. It's a real crap shoot when it comes to umpires in MLB. I very much doubt that instant replay on bang-bang plays will happen anytime soon, but I don't understand why MLB doesn't provide radar data to the homeplate umpire to help him make ball-strike calls. You don't even have to tell the rest of the world. Buzz his left cheak if the radar thinks it's a ball and buzz his right cheack on a strike. If players know the umpire has an aid in calling strikes, they'll likely shut-up and stop looking twice at the umpire after yet another ridiculous called pitch.

Changing the Rules
Because of today's game, the rules of baseball regarding rain delays will change. In the 6th inning, with the Phillies winning 2-1, the rain was so fierce that the game should've been delayed. But since whether reports indicated that the rain wasn't gonna stop, that would've meant the Phillies would be the first team to win a rain shortened game to clinch the World Series. The umpire refused to call the game. The Rays scored a run in the top of the 6th. This means it's a suspended game and they'll continue the game tomorrow. Had the Phillies' pitcher simply thrown the first pitch wild of the plate, then the Phillies would be World Series champions as the umpire would've had no choice but to call the game and baseball would be extremely embarrassed. Rules will change.

Slide Tackles in Soccer
Slide tackles in soccer should be illegal at all levels of soccer. Why? Because adults are stupid. I played a game earlier this past summer with kids and adults and an adult slid tackled a kid. When I called him for a foul, he actually complained. I was quite amazed that and adult would complain about a slide tackle on a kid, while the kid was hurt. He was about 35 and the kid was about 10. It was a fun game. Slide tackles in professional soccer is encouraging kids and adults to do the same in fun soccer. It's stupid and dangerous. Players should be told to stay on their feet and stop slide tackling, no exceptions. Soccer isn't hockey. I love hockey, but I'm sure soccer fans don't want that.

Leafs Suck/Rock?
Do the Leafs suck? Are they looking towards a Stanley Cup? What do you think? They are 3 wins and 5 losses. Yet fans are excited? Losers! They suck! End of story.

Sports and Politics
If I were to pick two people I wish were Prime Minister of Canada, then I'd pick Michael Pinball Clemons and Ken Dryden, two sports stars. Why? They seem honest in their opinion where convention politician lawyers seem more like con-artists. What do you think? Leave a comment.

Soccer Offside
You know what offside in soccer is? I bet you don't. I hang at a lot of sports bars. I love to ask soccer fans to explain the offside rule to me. Never has any soccer fan explained it correctly. Many fans believe that a player is offside, if he is beyond the last defense when the ball is kicked. Untrue. Do you know the rule? Tell us. Show your knowledge. Let's see if you really know.

RotoHog Sucks

Hopefully any potential advertisers will find this before they publish RotoHog ads. I entered into an advertising agreement where RotoHog paid me $200 up front, but would pay me an additional amount per conversion. When it came time for RotoHog to provide me with conversion stats, they simply ignored the emails (my contact was Ryan Mantor). They did try to renew the advertising, but I told them until they settled the first contract, that I would not be renewing them. Since they did want to renew, I'm sure they were happy with the number of conversions they got. I can only assume they received a lot more conversion than anticipated and don't want to pay me my share. If you do advertising for RotoHog, make sure you get paid up front or you may get screwed like me. Do not enter into a pay per conversion agreement with them.

Update: I just found out RotoHog laid off a large chunk of their company. I guess I know why they aren't paying their bills.

Sundin is Back?

Assuming Sundin comes back in the next few weeks and only wants to play in the East, then he's either gonna play for less or the acquiring team is gonna have to off-load salary or he's gonna play for the Leafs or Sabres. Senators don't have enough salary room. Ranger/Flyers have none. Most of the teams with salary room aren't expected to compete for the Cup. Can you see Sundin in Sabres blue? Do the Sabres want him? They have nearly $6M of salary room and adding Sundin would make them a favorite to win the Cup. Leafs suck! They just broke a 5 game losing streak.

Ten-Jack Starting Hands

Almost everytime I play Texas-Holdem, somebody mentions that the jack-ten is one of the best starting hands. I make sure I play lot of hands with that person. While watching poker on TV at a bar today, the group next to me were applauding this guy for going near all-in preflop with a jack and ten. The other player had ace and ten. The flop was queen, ten, nine and both players quickly were all-in. "See, what did I tell you," said on of the bar dwellers. The turn was a king and the lesser ten-jay won. Brilliant!

The truth, AT (ace-ten) will beat JT (jack-ten) nearly 70% of the time. Even post flop, when the straight draw is near, the AT hand is still favored to win the hand. Don't believe me, check out the poker calculator.

All that said, the last tournament I was in, I was knocked out by JT versus AQ (ace-queen) on a rivered straight.

Even It Up Reffing

I really hate, even it up reffing. Last night, the Calgary Flame's Rene Bourque got a deserved 9-minute penalty, leading to a 9-minute power play for the Washington Capitals. The next 8 penalties and 16 minutes were called against the Capitals in one of the most blatantly obvious attempts to even up the penalties that I've ever seen. The refs Chris Lee and Bill McCreary are official idiots, although we've long known Bill to be. BTW, I'd like to thank Bill once again for all the homer calls in international hockey. I can't believe he hasn't been fired yet. The announcers are just as stupid as they actually tried to justify the 8 penalties in-a-row. A great victory for the Flames, except that they needed massive help from the refs.

I Earned My Stripes

Today, I won both the Nextel Chase for the Cup and the Daytona 500 on EASports' NASCAR 08. This game got horrible reviews, but it's the only video game to catch my fancy in the last decade.

In the my first year of Earning Your Stripes, I started in Whelen, although I had qualified for Craftsman (the 2nd level). I wanted to experience the entire game, but after winning by first 7 Whelen races, I decided to move up. Although I missed a couple of early season Craftsman races, I still won the entire series in my first year. Moving up to NNS proved difficult and took me about a year. This allowed me to win my 2nd Craftsman Truck Series title running away. In my 3rd year, I started in NNS and again won this series running away. The game didn't allow me to qualify for Nextel until the last 12 races of the season. I easily and quickly qualified. My teammate was Mark Martin and I was able to share draft him into winning the last couple races of the season and qualify for the Chase. I then share drafted him to victory a few times in the Chase, while putting Kurt Busch into the wall a half dozen times as he was winning enough to compete with Martin. Martin won the Chase with me pushing him across the finish line.

I was excited with the start of my 4th year with a chance to win the Nextel Cup and Daytona 500. I used my winnings to upgade my engine for the Daytona 500. Oops! The upgraded engine caused my tires to overheat and I had to pit earlier and more often than I had hoped. It took another race before I realized my mistake and corrected it by reducing my gear setup. I went on to win 23 of the 36 races. I then won the Daytona 500 in my 5th year and retired. I also won the NNS in my 4th year giving me 5 titles (2 Craftsman, 2 NNS and 1 Nextel).

Here's hoping NASCAR 09 is more challenging. NASCAR 08 is very intense and the career mode is awesome, but I found the game rather easy. The reviews of 09 seems to indicate I might get my wishes.

Need skis? Need them near Vail Valley, Beaver Creek Mountain or Arrowhead Village in Colorado? Book them in advance and don't waste your precious vacation time. Try beaver creek ski rentals with Ski Butlers. You can rent skis from Ski Butlers either online or you can call their toll-free reservation phone number. Rental fees range from $28 to $59 per day. They will deliver the ski or snowboard equipment and accessories to you, rather than having to pick it up yourself. They even bring extra boots to make sure you get the right fit. When you are done, they will even pick it up. If you have problems with the equipment, then Ski Butler will send someone to meet you on the mountain or back at your accommodations. Me, Hockey Dad
We're 3 games into the hockey season and my son has scored in every game. He has 3 goals and 5 assists, averaging a point less than 3 per game. My wife still think I'm watching the games with rosy hockey dad glasses. The team is 2 wins, 1 loss scoring 25 goals with 8 against. But in all honesty, they allowed less than 20 shot on net, less than their goals. The goalie on this team is bored out of his mind. He's already got one shutout, in a game where he wasn't required to make a save.

Online Casino Suite
This is a paid review.

Online Casino Suite is a directory of the best Online Casinos, gaming software, videos and books. The reviews at this website have been compiled by real online players with 7 years of experience gambling online. The site only reviews online casinos that meet their fairness, payout, secure, payout, bonus, reward and customer service criteria.

They have pages reviewing UK Casinos, Slots, Poker, Video Poker, Blackjack, Baccarat, Roulette, Craps, Keno, Bingo, Sweepstakes, Books, Magazines, Movies, Software and much more.

Beyond their comprehensive reviews, they also have sections where they list casino bonuses and free games. I always check out the casino bonus sections of these gambling portals for bonuses that I wasn't already aware of. They had quite a selection. They als had a few free casinos listed, which I appreciate as I enjoy the game more than gambling.

Don't forget to check out their blog, casino news and subscribe to their RSS feed and newsletter. Their newsletter has over 1000 subscribers and growing.

The most original part of this site is their casino blacklist. They list the casino companies and all their properties for many reasons including nonpayment of player winnings, corrupt software resulting in fixed percentage payouts and non-random gaming, copyright and/or licensing violations, lack of security with private and financial information, shared databases, and non-response to inquiries. I really appreciated this section and dropped a lot of online casinos from my own rotation.

Tiffany Berryman

Every once in awhile, I get support emails related to Talk-Sports from a real quack. One of these real quacks is Tiffany Berryman.  I don't know who she is, but I think she's the person that runs the following sports gossip blog []. Whenever someone writes a comment about her, she threatens to sue me. Everytime, I tell her that she needs only click the report abuse link and it'll be deleted. Yet everytime, she send me another threatening email. The comments she wants deleted are often that she's a quack (or similar). I've decided that I won't delete any more comments about her being nuts, although it is somewhat abusive, it's mostly factual.

Crosby Denies Talk-Sports

In a recent interview on ESPN Radio, the interviewer asked Sidney Crosby about his Talk-Sports girlfriend forum. Crosby denied knowledge of the website. It's pretty exciting to here that Talk-Sports is being referenced on ESPN radio, but it's disappointing to here Crosby deny knowledge of it, as I'm aware that the website was talked about considerably in the dress-room last season. It's entirely possible he didn't put two and two together, but I suspect he was simply lying :-(

You can listen to the interview at the following link. The reference is at 19:30 or thereabouts of the interview.

This is a paid review. is a great source for sold out and premium Concert Tickets. They have lots of tickets for all the locations on the current Madonna tour. They appear to have tickets for every major North American concert tour venue; Neil Diamond, Celine Dion, En Vogue, Tina Turner and much more. Beyond concert tickets, they also have tickets for all the major sports events and even Broadway theatre plays like Phantom of the Opera, Wicked and Grease. I looked up tickets for the November 2nd Colts-Patriots game, which I'm considering attending and they had great tickets at better prices than StubHub. For the November 1st Notre Dame versus Pittsburgh game, they also had tickets in almost every section of the stadium. I also found tickets for this weekend's Toronto FC Major League Soccer game versus the Chicago Fire. That's a tough find.
You can chat online or call their 1-800 number, if you need help or have special needs. You pay for the tickets by using you credit card number, but don't worry, they have a secure website to make certain nobody is stealing your credit card information. TicketFeeder gets their tickets from season ticket holders and individual ticket owners. They also guarantee that all tickets are authentic. Check it out!

NASCAR08 is the first video game that has excited me since the early versions of Half-Life. Like Half-Life and EA NHL, the #1 feature of this game is the realism. Competing for the NEXTEL Cup against Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson is the dream of any NASCAR fan. I particularly like the Earn Your Stripes mode where you progress thru the Truck Series and NNS and finally earn the right to competein the Sprint Cup. I'm so excited about this game, that I want it to be even better. Here's a list of ways to make it better. I hope someone at EA reads this.
  • There is too little difference between levels. As soon as I had conquered rookie mode, I moved easily to Veteran and Legend and won. Rookie needs to be easier and Legend needs to be more difficult.
  • Series license tests are either too easy or unrealistic. The license test that are realistic are way too easy. The license test that are difficult don't really occur in real life. Drop the Toyata zig and zag tests in favor of racing tests that aren't trivial.
  • You can't upgrade tires in NASCAR. Or engines. Don't allow me to do things that you can't do in real NASCAR.
  • Racing is too easy. I win 2 thirds of the time on legend Nextel and place 2nd most the time I don't win, pushing most likely a teamate to victory.
  • Pit crew competency should be refected in the level of the team you join. This should be used to make me lose more when I first join a series.
  • Crashing should not be a strategy. When you hit, not tap, the wall you shouldn't be able to return to speed and catch the pack before the end of the lap. Further, the damage should slow you down. Because damage doesn't slow you down, I often crash intentionally when I need a pit badly. Sometimes my son and I play crash-up derbie and drive against the traffic. I've hit cars head on a hundred times in a row and continued to crash with little consequence other than blown tires.
  • Car setup shouldn't matter on Rookie level, but should be overly important on Legend. Team level might also infuence the default setup.
  • When you change teams you don't bring your car with you. Further contracts don't match reality. When I sign a 10 race contract in real NASCAR, that's for 10 races over the next year, not the next 10 races. Contracts to drivers with more than a years experience one a circuit should be for the entire season and you should be able to renew with the same team, assuming you meat their obligations.
  • Purses of Nextel events should reflect reality. They are way too low.
  • Send me a Beta and I'll send you perfection.

    Kid Hockey Coaches
This summer, my son played in a 7 to 11 year old summer hockey league. I was surprised to find I knew the coach of my son's team. I was even more surprised when he turned out to be the horror kids hockey coach that we all like to joke about. This guy really wanted to win. He and his assistant coach did all those stupid things. They double shifted the top players. They short shifted the lesser players. They yapped at the refs. One was even ejected for f-bombing the ref in front of the kids. I reported the coaches to the league early in the season. The league told the coaches and they actual got upset at the parents for squealing on them. It was all too psycho. Unfortunately it's not over. My son's winter coach is nearly as psycho. I now appreciate my son's coach from last summer more than ever.

    Hockey Night in Canada?

It's Saturday night, the Leafs are on TV and CBC is running a movie. I grew up watching the Leafs play hockey on CBC every Saturday night of the regular season. I'm 39. I'm confused. I watched a movie for 5 minutes on CBC before I figured out something was wrong. Actually, I didn't figure it out. It was my son. He told me that this was a movie and not hockey. I was waiting. I likely would've waited for an hour before I figured out that this movie wasn't a hockey game. All good things. The world has changed forever.

Update: I just realized, this game doesn't count, it's exhibition and that's why it's not on CBC. What thru me off is that the NHL season has started already for 4 teams today. Others are still playing pre-season games.

    Cliffside Malibu
For you high-paid athletes that read this blog and especially for your wives who might be under the influence, check out Cliffside Malibu, a Drug Treatment Center, Alcohol Rehab Center and Drug Detox Center. It's located north of Zuma Beach with 2 acres of land overlooking the Pacific ocean. The pics of the center and rooms are absolute gorgeous. Check out their website and you'll find dozens of pictures taken throughout It looks more like a cottage country resort in Wisconsin, than a rehab center in Malibu. This place has everything, including psychologists, psychiatrist, equine therapist, personal trainers, chefs, residential advisers, acupuncturists, herbologists, massage therapists, holistic medicine practitioners, even a spiritual advisor. They encourage residents to maintain a yoga regiment, so if you like yoga and have a drug problem, then this is the place for you.
They run a blog on the website which is more than a year old and updated frequently. Subscribe to their RSS feed, if you want updates. And don't worry, they have wireless Internet access so you can still read your forums. I wonder if they have a Talk-Sports rehab program for athletes that just can't get enough of their crazy fans?
