Goodenow Resigns

Bob Goodenow: With the conclusion of the negotiations and the ratification of the new agreement, the parties concur that this is an appropriate action for the future. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to serve the Players over the past 15 years and to have had the support of a tremendous staff at the NHLPA. I wish the Players every success under the new CBA.

With Nicklaus gone, focus shifts to Tiger

MSNBC: The Golden Bear hunching over a birdie putt on the 18th hole, the ball curling into the cup, the club pointing skyward in triumph. Before the tears could dry, Woods arrived at the same hole, halfway home to his second British Open championship. This one has all the makings of another Tiger runaway, just like his first one in 2000. Woods is 11 under after rounds of 66 and 67, the next-closest players are a distant four strokes behind.

Ray criticizes NHLPA

Rob Ray: I just think he was trying to sell something to the players that was unrealistic. And I just think they believed him for a long time, and he didn't come up with what he more or less promised them.

Players were Brainwashed

Sean Avery: We burned a year for nothing. [cut] We didn't win anything. We didn't prove anything. We didn't get anything. We wasted an entire season. [cut] I am furious at Bob. [cut] Bob thought he was bigger than he was. Bob brainwashed players like me.
