We have some race this year. I can identify 7 legit candidates; 3 of which scored 30 goals.
One year ago, Skinner wasn't on anybody's NHL radar. He wasn't drafted and wasn't even projected in the 1st round of the draft. He scored 20 goals in 20 games during last years OHL playoff and he became a 7th overall pick. Twelve months later, he has 30+ goals in the NHL and is the choice of many to win the Calder Trophy.
Nineth overall pic in 2007, he stagnated for the next 3 years. Out of nowhere, he's regained his top prospect form and put 30 pucks in the net. Unlikely to win, as he doesn't have the most goals, nor the most points for a rookie, which is the prime criteria for a forward.
Grabner was the 14 overall pick back in 2006. Like Couture, he struggled after his draft year. He played the last 3 years almost entirely in the AHL. A brief 20 game tryout at the end of last season was successful, potting 5 goals. The Canucks traded him to the Panthers, who then waived him before the season started. He was claimed by the Islanders and the rest is history; 30 goal rookie campaign.
Drafted 27th overall in 2008. Note that all these rookies to date have been drafted in the 1st round. Somebody might wanna inform Brian Burke of these facts. Played half a season in the AHL and he's an NHLer. Fits in well, on a very talented Capitals team. Unlike to win.
Tell Burke that Fowler was drafted 12th overall in 2010. Ya, that's last year. And he scored 40 points this year as a defenseman. His -26 plus-minus rating is gonna keep him away from the Calder Trophy.
Drafted in the 2nd round of 2007. I have to think his skin color and mouth kept him out of the 1st round. How many defensemen score 56 points in their OHL draft year and don't get picked in the 1st round? He's improved every year since, is now a household name for every hockey fan and a twitter fad (#blamesubban). PK's stats might not get him the Calder, but I watch a lot of hockey and from what I see, this guy is already a leader on the Canadians. He's my Calder pick, but I doubt many will agree. They'd rather blame him for something.
I always hate it when a goalie qualifies as a rookie, yet he played games in 4 NHL seasons. This is actually his 5th season playing in the NHL. The numbers are there and he resurrected the Hawks season. He'll get votes, but he was drafted in 2003. Hardly a rookie.
I don't know exactly who this person is, but they've been posting ridiculous crap on Talk-Sports and other websites since August of this year. All that I know is that they are from Montreal, Quebec as indicated by their IP address. They think that Marketa, Sidney Crosby and myself are part of a big conspiracy to place hook files on people's computers. And supposedly the police are helping us cover it up.
Latest rant about the hookfile. They figure if they use big words and technical terms that they'll seem intelligent. This person is severely paranoid.
Their wordpress blog.
Recent press releases likely written by the same person.
Some original claims they've posted on Talk-Sports

From Marketa Linden's formspring. Gotta <3 her crazy reply. As if a Brit happens to write in the same broken English as Marketa.
Excuse me? Firstly, your hat is not in vogue, 2nd, I am native British citizen, Derrick is my name, and I am not into you. If you have an idea apparel company is run by 1 person doing all from sewing to web design, I'd like to see you as IT doing sewing. Anyway, this formspring is about styling tips to our clients. You need proper makeover but ask someone else for the help.
Ever wonder what they mean about loosening or tightening the track bar. I really never understood until I watch this video.
Summer Vacation, Day 30, August 16th 2010.
It's the day after the Michigan race. Here I am. All alone in the middle of the racetrack. I need a shower and shave.
Almost everybody is gone. Our motorhome stands alone.
Before we vacate.
After we vacate.
We were site 1 A 25.
What's left in the morning.
Garbage and port-a-potties.
Once last pic before we exit.
Vid of us crossing the track.
Thank you Goodyear. Good show.
Summer Vacation, Day 29, August 15th 2010.
It's Sprint Cup raceday at Michigan International Speedway. Vide of national anthem and flyover.
Giggidy giggidy giggidy, let's go racing boys.
Kevin Harvick wins the race.
Awesome Hot Wheels car in the infield.
Quite of few of us Ontarioens were there eh!
The infield has a few stores in the middle. Merchandise.
A fully stocked convenience store. I had a coffee every morning from here. They had everything you could need, except flying lanterns.
There was even a Coney Island in the infield. Oddly, they closed really early in the evening. The infield party goes on past midnight. They miss out on at least 6 hours per day of prime business.
We stayed on site 1 A 25. That's second row. First row is AA. A was 1st row only a year prior.
The stands clear out pretty quickly after the race.
A lot of the RVs leave the same night, but most will stay till morning.
One last campfire at the racetrack.
Summer Vacation, Day 28, August 14th 2010.
Finally, it's raceday. The Nationwide race. The Sprint Cup race is not till Sunday (the next day). Keselowski dominated and won the Nationwide race that day. My son was quite happy. It's one of his favorite drivers.
Our RV site.
The carts that people bring to the NASCAR races are simply crazy. Check out these two.
A bicycle bar.
What's an outdoor sporting event with the Goodyear blimp.
Important! When camping at the racetrack, you don't have plumbing. Keep an eye out for these guys and the water truck. I catch them once or twice depending on how many days it is. So I can shower everyday.
After the race, there was a free outdoor convert. They had beer, but not food. Kids were hungry.
Nighttime. Time for a campfire.
My neighbor accidentally set his lantern on fire. Security put the fire out within 30 seconds. Really, 30 seconds. They go around in carts all night. He stopped the cart, grabbed the fire extinguisher and it was over.
The orange dots are flying lanterns. There was sometimes a couple dozen of them in the sky at once.
If you don't know what a flying lantern is, then watch this vid. This was the 2nd one I lit. Was a little nervous and almost blew it.
Some pics of cars on the racetrack.
Summer Vacation, Day 27, August 13th 2010.
Good morning NASCAR racers, from the top of my RV overlooking the track. Friday is practice and poll day.
Video from practice.
Even from the ground (2nd row), we could see the race.
Awesome National Guard tailgating setup at the entrance to turn 1.
From the infield, you can take the tunnel to the outside where the fan zone is located.
Reverse view of the grandstand.
Me as Smoke.
Me as Jr.
Me as Ryan Newman. This guy is wide.
Me as the 4-time loser.
Me as Mark Martin.
Chad and Jimmie stopped by for a pic. Loser.
The infield has several humongo screens so you can enjoy more of the action.
Grandstands are pretty full for a poll day.
Enjoying a beer.
The RV rooftops at night.
And what would a NASCAR race be without Heluva Good! dip. The store in the infield is 24 hours and well stocked.
Biffle drives by turn 1 in practice.
Denny drives by.
Eat something Joey.
Kyle's Interstate #17 car.
Elliot Sadler's Air Force #19 car.
David Reutimann's #00 Tums car.
Jimmie Johnson's #48 Lowe's car.
Jr's #88 National Guard car.
Summer Vacation, Day 26, August 12th 2010.
After a 10 day break from our summer RVing, we jumped into the motorhome and headed to the Michigan International Speedway. We passed thru Saline, MI and did some shopping at the local Walmart. We had a last meal before our 4 day camp inside the racetrack at a Wings Pizza n Things. The restaurant-bar was very cool, beer was cheep, but the service was slow even with more staff on hand than customers.
The lineup getting in was crazy, but considering how many RVs there was, it was amazing that we were parked within one hour or lining up.
Video of us crossing the racetrack into the infield.
The high banked turns at Michigan. We were camped inside turn 1.
Michigan, unlike any other racetrack we've been to, is all about the tailgating camping experience.
Channing is a girl from Michigan who is accused of creating the Jillian Domani facebook profile and using the profile to have phone sex and sext with dozens of guys. She also distributed NSFW photos of these guys to her online girlfriends like Mellisa Johnson.
She created the Jillian Domani profile from photos of another girl, whose identity I'll leave out at her request. She created a bf for Jillian named Ryan from pics of this other girls bf. She also create numerous other identities using photos of other people.
She claimed to live in Chicago and to be dating Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane. She would photoshop pictures of Jillian with Toews and Kane to solidify her story. She friended profiles for Toews, Kane and many other famous athletes on facebook, but most were fake and she may have created some herself. She also claimed to date Jesse Lacey from the band Brand New, Jeff Baker of the Cubs and Rick Porcello of the Tigers.
A few years back, Channing had a major crush on a boy from a band. This boy rejected her, but her crush didn't stop there. She created an online profile of a girl that she thought this boy might like; the Jillian profile. She connected online with him and they began an online-virtual relationship. Unfortunately, it didn't stop there, she continued using the profile to befriend other girls and to have phone sex and sext with boys. It snowballed into what became the Jillian profile.

A lot of thee information I acquired from Mellissa Sue Johnson's formspring.
Other information was acquired from the dozens of girls and guys that contacted in the weeks after Jillian was exposed on Talk-Sports.com.
More to come.
Summer Vacation, Day 25, August 2nd 2010.
The morning after the big race. The RV is a mess.
Actually, the entire Pocono infield is a mess.
In fact, I'm a mess.
I can't believe we got a fenceline RV spot two years running. Last year, we stayed in spot 6.
Before I started packing up. At this point, there's on a few dozen RVs left in the infield.
Leaving via the tunnel in turn 2.
Video leaving thru the tunnel. At the very end of the vid, my mirror hits the sidedoor. "Oh Jezz!"
On the way home, we drive right by The Glen, the next race. The two Sprint trucks pulling off followed us from Pocono.
And then we went home and the vacation was temporarily over :_(
Summer Vacation, Day 24, August 1st 2010.
It rained a bit at the start of the race and delayed it a half hour. The person in front of me packed up their RV and took off. I pulled into their fenceline spot. Last year, we were in spot 6. This year, fenceline spot 7.
From row seats.
Jimmie sucks! Just like my Leafs.
I think my awning needs some major repairs.
The Biff won the race. His victory celebration.
Supper time. I love charcoaling.
Then we shared a campfire with the neighbors. I had so much wood left. Needed to burn it.
Summer Vacation, Day 23, July 31st 2010.
The Saturday of the Pocono weekend was the 1st Camping World Truck race held there. Big day. But let's start with breakfast. Like my setup? That's my propane grill on top of my mounted dual purpose firepit-charcoal grill. I have it all.
I refer to my kids as ABC (their 1st initials), so when we say ABC hashbrowns, we bought in.
Gotta love this bar slash golf cart. NASCAR fans have the greatest golf carts.
View from the rooftops. Some of these rooftop contraptions are amazing.
Let's go truck race.
My tat. LOL! Temp. Lame. FAIL!
Awesome M&M golf carts.
The neighbors on the corner had the Nationwide race on TV for all to watch. My kids took advantage. These neighbors always occupy the same spot opposite fenceline site #1.
They also host beer pong and flip cup games. I rock at flip cup. After the guys lost about six games in-a-row, I showed them a couple tricks, joined in and we kicked the girls asses. I hit my 1st and only flip. I'm king of flip cup. I would've played longer, but I had the three kids.
Pics of all the Spring Cup favs during practice earlier in the day.
