Marketa Linden, Talk-Sports Cyber-Bully
Marketa Linden is a bully who lives on the Sidney Crosby girlfriend forum. She claims to be a super model, singer and royalty. Nobody has any pictures of her modeling, nor has anybody been able to find a copy of her single “The Life in the Confidence.” She claims her title is Her Royal Highness Princess Marketa of Bohemia, Duchess of Windsor, but I highly doubt that’s true. She appears to have a Czech upbringing, which might explain why her written English is nearly incomprehensible and full of mispelt words.

She quite often send emails using fake names. But it’s obviously the same person as the messages contain the same nearly incomprehensible English and spelling mistakes.

She claims that Kathy Leutner, Sidney Crosby’s girlfriend is harassing her and making death threats. She has never been able to substantiate the death threats. She has provided screenshot of abusive comments left on her Blogspot blog. There’s no proof that the comments are actually from Kathy Leutner.

She began contacting me in April of this year with wild accusation and within a week was threatening to sue Talk-Sports for $1,000,000.

Lately, I was contact by Pittsburgh Penguins security. It appears she’s been sending the same threatening emails to Penguin staff.

NHL Fun
Here are one person's thoughts with regards to making the NHL more entertaining for him. There’s nothing in here that would be remotely appetizing to the 30 votes that matter.

  1.          Reduce the number of players dressed per game to 18. This effectively removes less skilled players.
  2.          Reduce the number of teams to 20. This effectively removes less skilled players.
  3.          Reduce the number of games played per week to 3. This effectively allows for better rested players, where games per week are currently 3.5.
  4.          Reduce the number of regular season games. I’m flexible with regards to the exact number of games. A minimum of 50 games would certainly let the cream rise to the top without bumping those quality teams that go on a 3 week swoon. The number, however, should not become so high that the outcome becomes too predictable for the majority of the teams. That just might make 70 games the maximum.
  5.          I prefer a balanced schedule, although I’m well aware that most enjoy playing local teams more often
  6.          Reduce the number of teams that qualify for the playoff to 8, with 3 7 game rounds. 5 games might be sufficient; however I can not get my mind to think of a playoff round being other than 7.
  7.          1st seed will play 8th seed, etc…
  8.          I prefer that these 8 seeds are the top 8 teams in the NHL with no preference being offered to division and conference. I am well aware that some may lose interest if no one from their region was competing in the playoffs. Perhaps my opinion is one from the east end of our continent.
  9.         I should be noted at this point that with a balanced schedule and no seeding preferences the concept of division and conference adds little to our world
  10.          No playoff round is to begin before the previous round is complete
  11.          Playoff games will be scheduled such that you are playing every 2nd day, where each team is to get at least 1 day off. This last point is important between rounds.
  12.          3 week training camp seems sufficient
  13.          Time off for Xmas, All-Star break, between regular season & playoffs, for Olympics & World Cup can easily be accommodated
  14.          Shut down 11 franchises Atlanta, Phoenix, Nashville, Columbus, Florida, Carolina, Tampa Bay, San Jose, Anaheim, Washington & New Jersey
  15.          Add a new and 2nd franchise in Toronto
  16.          No expansion to Winnipeg, Québec, Halifax. In the new 20 team NHL teams such as Edmonton & Calgary will be considered weak in many respects. Although I did intend on staying away from any reasoning of this sort.
    •          West division
      •          Vancouver
      •          Calgary
      •          Edmonton
      •          Los Angeles
      •          Colorado
    •          Midwest division
      •          Detroit
      •          Chicago
      •          Minnesota
      •          Saint Louis
      •          Dallas
    •          Southeast division
      •         Boston
      •          New York Rangers
      •          New York Islanders
      •          Philadelphia
      •          Pittsburgh
    •          Northeast
      •          Montréal
      •          Ottawa
      •          Toronto Maple Leafs
      •          Toronto 2nd
      •          Buffalo

What undermines everyone’s effort when entertaining any conversation that puts forth anything resembling the above is the idea that you can sell it. Don’t! You can’t! It’s purely entertainment!

Notre Dame and Colts

On November 1st, I'm going to the University of Notre Dame versus Pittsburgh game. Then on the 2nd, I'm going to the Indianapolis Colts versus the New England Patriots. Should be fun!

TicketFeeder
This is a paid review.

TicketFeeder.com is a great source for sold out and premium Concert Tickets. They have lots of tickets for all the locations on the current Madonna tour. They appear to have tickets for every major North American concert tour venue; Neil Diamond, Celine Dion, En Vogue, Tina Turner and much more. Beyond concert tickets, they also have tickets for all the major sports events and even Broadway theatre plays like Phantom of the Opera, Wicked and Grease. I looked up tickets for the November 2nd Colts-Patriots game, which I'm considering attending and they had great tickets at better prices than StubHub. For the November 1st Notre Dame versus Pittsburgh game, they also had tickets in almost every section of the stadium. I also found tickets for this weekend's Toronto FC Major League Soccer game versus the Chicago Fire. That's a tough find.

You can chat online or call their 1-800 number, if you need help or have special needs. You pay for the tickets by using you credit card number, but don't worry, they have a secure website to make certain nobody is stealing your credit card information. TicketFeeder gets their tickets from season ticket holders and individual ticket owners. They also guarantee that all tickets are authentic. Check it out!

2007 NHL Playoff Predictions Eastern Conference

Sabres vs. Islanders

This will likely be a walk, since the Sabres are healthy and had good playoff experience last season. With DiPietro coming back off injury and not having played in a couple weeks, he might be stale for the first game. He is the key to the series. If he doesn't play his best hockey for six games, then the Islanders will be in trouble. The Islander push for the playoff was impressive, but nobody expect them to win and I think they've already hit their goal, just getting into the playoffs.

Goaltending: +Sabres
Defense: +Sabres
Offense: +Sabres
Coaching: +Islanders
Heart: +Sabres

Devils vs. Lightning

This series should prove what is more valuable. Great scorers or a great goalie. The Devils would not have made the playoffs without Brodeur and the Lightning would not have made the playoffs without Lecavalier and St. Louis. My money is on the Devils, mostly because of the massive goaltending advantage. Holmqvist is by far the worst starting goaltender in this year's playoff and Brodeur is the best. But, with the recent problems in the Devils organization, I wouldn't preclude an upset. The key to this series is behind the bench. Will the Devils play for Lamoriello after he fired their coach?

Goaltending: +2 Devils
Defense: +Devils
Offense: +2 Lightning
Coaching: +Devils
Heart: +Lightning

Thrasher vs. Rangers

This is looking like an upset. The Thrashers are new the playoffs and that usually means bad things. On the other hand, the Trashers have a scary defense and great scoring. Even if the Rangers win, they'll get beat up. Avery is the wild card in this series. He could lose it with the stupidity he's known for or he could play rough but smart and even up the Thrasher's physical advantage.

Goaltending: +Rangers
Defense: +Thrashers
Offense: +Thrashers
Coaching: +Rangers
Heart: +Rangers

Senators vs. Penguins

The Penguins are the team of the future, but the Senators could be the team of 2007. The Senators are prime for a good playoff. They've changed the team. Brought in players that have performed in big tournaments (Heatley). Like the Trasher series, 1st year playoff teams like Pittsburgh often don't play up to playoff speed. The key to this series will be Crosby. Duh!? He could just want to win now and it'll happen.

Goaltending: +Penguins
Defense: +Senators
Offense: +Senators
Coaching: even
Heart: +Senators

Oilers Trade for D

CP The Oilers first acquired Tarnstrom, who will help their power play, from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for forward Jani Rita and defenceman Cory Cross. Then Lowe acquired Czech Olympian Spacek from the Chicago Blackhawks for forward Tony Salmelainen.

http://www.nhl.com/news/2006/01/254316.html

Randy: The Oilers may have the best D-men in the league; Pronger, Bergeron, Staios, Smith, Tarnstrom and Spacek. I don't like the Cross for Tarnstrom trade. Cross is a better 6th d-man than Tarnstrom. But Spacek for Salmelainen is a steal. The Leafs could've used some D, where's Ferguson?

NFL Conference Championship Predictions

Down to four team. Usually at this point in the season, one team would stand out from the rest as a clear favorite to win the Super Bowl. This is untrue this season. We have four team, we equal chances to with a slight edge to the home teams.

Sunday, Jan. 22
GAME TIME NETWORK
AFC -- Pittsburgh at Denver 3:00 CBS
NFC -- Carolina at Seattle 6:30 FOX

Let's start with the Broncos, who have looked awesome in their last two games against the Patriots and the Chargers, knocking both teams out of contention. But they are playing the Steelers, who in two playoff road games have held the Bengals and Colts, the two top offenses in the NFL to less than 20 points. Now, if you remember Roethlisberger injured his throwing hand in the 2nd half of the Colts game. That and home field advantage seem to be the only reason to pick the Broncos over the Steelers.

In the second game, we have the Seahawks who are likely the best team over the entire course of the season. In their one playoff game, they held a pathetic Redskins offense to 10 points in there win and their MVP running back, Shaun Alexander sustained a concussion. The Panthers on the other hand destroyed the Giants 23-0 in New York, then out offensed the best defensive team in the NFL, the Bears 29-21 in Chicago. The Bears lacking offense scored 3 touchdowns on 3 long drives in 4 consecutive possessions. There's reason to pick and not pick either team. Toss a coin, with a slight edge to the Seahawks, playing at home.

NFL Playoffs Predictions

On the back 3 of 4 predictions last week, here's what I think is coming down this weekend. Let's start with the matchups.

Saturday, Jan. 14
GAME TIME NETWORK SIRIUS Radio
AWAY HOME
Washington at Seattle 4:30 FOX 126 124
New England at Denver 8:00 CBS 126 124
Sunday, Jan. 15
GAME TIME NETWORK SIRIUS Radio
AWAY HOME
Pittsburgh at Indianapolis 1:00 CBS 125 124
Carolina at Chicago 4:30 FOX 125 124

I predict Seattle, New England, Indianapolis and Chicago.

The Redskins were unable to move the ball last week and were saved by an amazing defensive game and an equally bad Bucs turnover offense. The Seahawks will simply play a very conservative game on offense and that should be enough to beat the Redskins, whose offense doesn't merit playing this late in the season. On the other hand, if the Seahawks start throwing the ball on 1st and 2nd down, then the Redskins' defense could make this a game. I'm pretty sure Mike Holmgren is smarting than that and they do have the best running back in the NFL in Shaun Alexander.

I really like the Broncos. This will be the best game of the week. The Broncos haven't lost at home all season. But they are playing the Pats and the Pats are a dynasty. Now don't get me wrong, this game will be a coin flip. The Pats have a 51% chance of winning.

The Colts haven't played a significant game in more than a month. They should win. But I didn't like the selfish play demonstrated by Payton Manning in the Charger game. Edgerrin James runs the ball effectively in the first half, then it'll be a blow out, otherwise it'll be close.

Back in September, the Bengals scored 24 points against the Bears defense in Chicago. Every other home game, the Bears held the opposition to less than 10 points. I don't expect things to change this weekend.
