Chara and Montreal Police
So the Montreal police have started an investigation into the Chara hit on Pacioretty. This is called attention whoring and the police involved should be reprimanded.

Even the NHL agrees the hit was not worthy of punishment beyond the game penalty he received. This isn't even in the same league as the Bertuzzi incident.

These police, IMHO, see an opportunity for them to be on national and american television and are whoring themselves out for their 15 minutes of fame.

I also had a recent incident with the provincial Quebec police. They drove and flew down from Montreal to serve me a warrant for the servers at my business address. What a fkn waste of my tax money. Just another reason why ur Canadian taxes are too high.

Let's talk about the waste. The warrant was for data on servers at my business address. Any idiot with a brain could've figured out that my business address was a fkn mailbox. So the subpoena was for servers I store in my fkn mailbox. Trust me, I laugh about this almost daily. Do you need a high school education to join the police force?

After driving down from Montreal to find out that I don't actually store servers in my mailbox, they contacted the local police to find my home address. That must've been embarrassing and they pulled in the local police to waste their fkn time too. WOOT! Hear ur taxes flushing down the toilet.

They knocked at my door and asked "politely" if they could talk, or else, they would get a subpoena for my house. Hehe! Should called them on it. Made them drive back to Montreal for the subpoena for my house. And when they returned, I could'a told 'em I don't host any servers in my house either. Try a little detective work b4 u waste my tax money further. A simple whois query could saved them a lot of time and our money.

I gave them what they wanted. I didn't want them wasting anymore of my tax money. They don't think they have enough evidence to proceed. Convenient waste. Thanks!

So why r they doing this? Because it involves Sidney Crosby and they might get their picture in the paper. Meanwhile, some real crime is taking place in Montreal and the cops are too busy to respond. Thanks!

We live in a fkd up world. Chara pushed a guy at a bad time into a badly misplaced hard spot. Some cops are gonna take advantage of this and get their name on TV and in the paper. The fkd up part isn't the incident, its the attention whores taking advantage of it.

The Hook File Talk-Sports Cyber-Bully

I don't know exactly who this person is, but they've been posting ridiculous crap on Talk-Sports and other websites since August of this year. All that I know is that they are from Montreal, Quebec as indicated by their IP address. They think that Marketa, Sidney Crosby and myself are part of a big conspiracy to place hook files on people's computers. And supposedly the police are helping us cover it up.

Latest rant about the hookfile. They figure if they use big words and technical terms that they'll seem intelligent. This person is severely paranoid.

My NHL Fun
Here's what I'd do to improve the NHL game. These thoughts are feasible, although I doubt everyody will agree with them or their feasibility.
  1. Reduce game roster to 19 from 20. This will reduce the ability for teams to put goons who otherwise can't play on the 4th line. NHLPA might not like this as it could be suggested this may remove 30 players from the NHL. Since we haven't reduced the 23 man roster, this isn't exactly true. Either way, the next item will more than compensate.
  2. Add more expansion teams; Quebec City, Kitchener/London, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Seattle. This will add new spots for the NHLPA. Kitchener is out of range for all of Buffalo, Toronto and Detroit and brings a new team to southern Ontario (sorry Hamilton). Quebec City should never have lost a team. Teams in Kansas City, Las Vegas and Seattle will increase US TV coverage.
  3. As expansion teams are added, consider reducing game rosters to 18.
  4. Every team plays every other team at home and away every 2 years. That's 29+ games accounted for. The rest of the games would be divisional or tournament (see tournaments below), no extra out of division conference games.
  5. All divisional winners plus the next teams to 6 teams in each conference receive a 1st round buy. The next 4 teams play a two out of three playoff to advance. Teams are reseated every round with no account to divisional placement. Conference winners meet in the finals.
  6. Refs call the same game in the playoffs as the regular season. The playoffs is not a testiment of your ability to play with a broken foot or torn ACL. Kunitz and Cooke were the real Conn Smythe winners this last playoff. Just ask the Red Wings defense who were afraid to go into the corner in game 7.
  7. Follow up to Cooke and Kunitz, hitting a d-man on a shoot-in is called charging. No rule change required, just call it.
  8. Investigate 4 on 4 hockey. Let's start with a handful of AHL games. I'm almost positive this will create a better game.
  9. Suspend obvious dives one game to start. Repeat offenders get increasing larger suspensions.
  10. Fighting major is an automatic misconduct. Repeat offenses are one game suspensions. Third offense are multi-game suspensions.
  11. No touch icing when iced from behind the blueline.
  12. Missed passes are not icing. It's already a rule that missed two line passes are not icing, it's just not called. Intentional misses remains an icing, as are difficult to hand passes. Defensive deflections do not obviate icings either.
  13. Shooting the puck from the defensive zone over the boards in the offensive zone is not a penalty. This applies only when the player is shooting it from behind his blueline and the puck crosses out-of-play inside the other teams blueline.
  14. On an icing shot from inside the blueline and not a missed pass, the defensive player centerman stands outside the faceoff circle.
  15. Clearing the puck out of play and icing from inside the blueline should have the same rules. Either both are penalties (rather not) or both are uncontended faceoffs (see previous) and defensive team may not change players.
  16. Any delay on a faceoff where the defensive team may not change is called a timeout on the defensive team. Subsequent delays are a penalty, even if legitimate. Absolute rules are required or refs will be complacent.
  17. Examine breakaway situations instead of timed penalties. When a penalty occurs, the offended player is given the puck at centre ice and all other players must be behind the far blueline. Ref blows his whistle to resume play. Powerplays are so boring. On a major penalty, a player still sits for the duration of his timed penalty, but the team remains at full strength.
  18. Assuming breakaway situations, the offending team is not aloud to change players. The offended player may not change either unless obviously injured, ref's discretion.
  19. Start the NHL season AT LEAST one month earlier. I still like the June finish. NHLPA might not like this.
  20. The NHL pre-season is reorganized into an elimination style tournament. Each team plays 5-7 games with winners playing winners and losers playing losers. The result of this tournament determines all tie-breakers in the regular season. These games do not count in the standings.
  21. Mid-season elimination style tournament occurs between late November and early February. These games count in the standings. The location of the games are played in a neutral city.
  22. Every team is required to play at least one neutral site game and specifically not in an existing NHL city. For example, the Flames and Oilers might play in Red Deer. This might start as an exhibition game, but the intent is to make this game count.
  23. New NHL arenas should be required to have at least 20,000 seats.
  24. Three stars of the game are formulized into an award.

Let's Stand Up to the NHL

It's too bad that the media simply reports the lies coming from the NHL about the Coyotes. It wouldn't take much courage to sit there and being laughing at them. Sure the NHL would black-balled you, but you represent integrity. When they report stuff like this, then you should laugh.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=424166

Weeks ago, the NHL reported they were not in control of the Coyotes. When the Coyotes declared bankruptcy, the NHL changed their mind and claimed they had taken control of the team from the owners. A month later, the courts disagreed as the NHL couldn't produce the documents they claimed to have.

Then the NHL claimed they controlled the rights to a second southern Ontario team and that this had nothing to do with the Sabres or the Leafs. Yet how many teams have moved in the last 10-20 years? Hartford? Winnipeg? Quebec? Dallas? How many times have we heard rumors of southern U.S. teams moving to Kansas City? Why was it made public that the Leafs would allow a 2nd Toronto team solely if they paid rent at the ACC? Why did some U.S. politicians petition the courts with concerns about the Sabres franchise?

Everybody knows it's just the NHL being the NHL again. Just as they did with Nashville (which is still in trouble). The Trashers are still in trouble. The Leafs gave $millions to the Lightning late (also in trouble) in the season and Bettman didn't seem to have any problem with that blatant circumvention of the NHL rules.

Why does the NHLPA put up with the NHL protecting broken teams at the expense of their revenue share?

I know why! Too many chickens. Nobody with the guts to stand up to Bettman, the Leafs and the Sabres. What we need is someone with the balls to do it. Like Balsillie. He's the solution to the current NHL problem. Let's support him. And let's stand up to the NHL and tell them that we want a team in Hamilton. Let's stand up to the Leafs. Let's stand up to the Sabres.

Anouk Leblanc-Boucher wins Bronze

CP: Anouk Leblanc-Boucher of Prevost, Que., avoided an illegal move by a Chinese skater to capture a bronze medal in the women's 500-metre short-track speedskating event at the Winter Olympics on Wednesday.

http://www.tsn.ca/olympics/news_story/?ID=155013

Randy: Anouk's medal may get bumped to a silver and Kalyna Roberge of Quebec City to a bronze, as it appears the silver medalist lifted her skate at the finish line, which should be a disqualification.

Slots For Mario

Slots for Mario is having a rally immediately before the Saturday (Feb 4) night Pens game. BTW, I personally don't think the Pens need a gambling license. The Pens' ownership is, of course, hinting that no slots means the Pens are gonna move. Hopefully to Winnipeg or Quebec. Personally, I think it's despicable when businesses hold axes over politician's heads in order to get public money.

Death by Popcorn

I don't think much defines the history of hockey like Dale Hawerchuk and the Winnipeg Jets. Non-hockey fans and some hocket fans will say who and what?

Dave was the other forward on the Canada Cup line with Gretzy and Lemieux and was likely the 3rd best player of his time (that'll get your name forgotten). A quebec band called Les Dale Hawerchuk have released a song called Dale Hawerchuk.

The Jets are now the Phoenix Coyotes and the CBC has created a documentary on the Winnipeg Jets called Death by Popcorn. Although NHL hockey is no longer played in Winnipeg, the dream lives on.
