I searched thru twitter today looking for decent Sidney Crosby feeds. I found only 3 :(
We're almost ready to start the Hottest NHLer tournament. Talk-Sports users will vote for the hottest NHLers every day for the next few months. The votes are cast on twitter using a special tag that will be given the day of each voting. We're hosting the brackets view on challonge.com. The first match is between Mikko Koivu and Ales Hemsky.
With the shortened NHL season about to start, I thought I'd spice it up with a hottest NHLer contest on twitter. I'm gonna start with Cosmo's hottest NHLer list.
I'm gonna use stats on Talk-Sports.com to rank the players from 1-30. The top 2 will get byes. The 3rd place will face the 30th, 4th v 29th, etc. Each round, the players will be reseeded, with highest original seed against lowest. There will be 3 initial one-day rounds over 27 plus days (I may miss a day here and there). Once we get to the semis, then both voting period will take place over two days. The finals voting will take place over an entire week.
The 1st day will be 15th v 16th. I'll provide twitter tags for both players. The player who receives the most tweets with his tag every day will move onto the next round. For example, the tag for voting for Randy Morin would be #RandyMorinHottestNHLer, but only tweets during the voting period will cound. You can vote as many times as you want, just be careful not to get yourself banned by twitter.
I'll provide the initial seedings later today.
Today, we added timelines to Talk-Sports. This is a page that includes all your Talk-Sports posts, your twitter updates, your weblog updates and your Talk-Sports status updates all in a chronological view. Check out mine.
We also added a wall. You can post your status to your wall, but we haven't tested others posting on your wall yet. I betcha ya get an error if you try. I haven't tried it yet.
We have some race this year. I can identify 7 legit candidates; 3 of which scored 30 goals.
One year ago, Skinner wasn't on anybody's NHL radar. He wasn't drafted and wasn't even projected in the 1st round of the draft. He scored 20 goals in 20 games during last years OHL playoff and he became a 7th overall pick. Twelve months later, he has 30+ goals in the NHL and is the choice of many to win the Calder Trophy.
Nineth overall pic in 2007, he stagnated for the next 3 years. Out of nowhere, he's regained his top prospect form and put 30 pucks in the net. Unlikely to win, as he doesn't have the most goals, nor the most points for a rookie, which is the prime criteria for a forward.
Grabner was the 14 overall pick back in 2006. Like Couture, he struggled after his draft year. He played the last 3 years almost entirely in the AHL. A brief 20 game tryout at the end of last season was successful, potting 5 goals. The Canucks traded him to the Panthers, who then waived him before the season started. He was claimed by the Islanders and the rest is history; 30 goal rookie campaign.
Drafted 27th overall in 2008. Note that all these rookies to date have been drafted in the 1st round. Somebody might wanna inform Brian Burke of these facts. Played half a season in the AHL and he's an NHLer. Fits in well, on a very talented Capitals team. Unlike to win.
Tell Burke that Fowler was drafted 12th overall in 2010. Ya, that's last year. And he scored 40 points this year as a defenseman. His -26 plus-minus rating is gonna keep him away from the Calder Trophy.
Drafted in the 2nd round of 2007. I have to think his skin color and mouth kept him out of the 1st round. How many defensemen score 56 points in their OHL draft year and don't get picked in the 1st round? He's improved every year since, is now a household name for every hockey fan and a twitter fad (#blamesubban). PK's stats might not get him the Calder, but I watch a lot of hockey and from what I see, this guy is already a leader on the Canadians. He's my Calder pick, but I doubt many will agree. They'd rather blame him for something.
I always hate it when a goalie qualifies as a rookie, yet he played games in 4 NHL seasons. This is actually his 5th season playing in the NHL. The numbers are there and he resurrected the Hawks season. He'll get votes, but he was drafted in 2003. Hardly a rookie.

Channing is a girl from Michigan who is accused of creating the Jillian Domani facebook profile and using the profile to have phone sex and sext with dozens of guys. She also distributed NSFW photos of these guys to her online girlfriends like Mellisa Johnson.
She created the Jillian Domani profile from photos of another girl, whose identity I'll leave out at her request. She created a bf for Jillian named Ryan from pics of this other girls bf. She also create numerous other identities using photos of other people.
She claimed to live in Chicago and to be dating Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane. She would photoshop pictures of Jillian with Toews and Kane to solidify her story. She friended profiles for Toews, Kane and many other famous athletes on facebook, but most were fake and she may have created some herself. She also claimed to date Jesse Lacey from the band Brand New, Jeff Baker of the Cubs and Rick Porcello of the Tigers.
A few years back, Channing had a major crush on a boy from a band. This boy rejected her, but her crush didn't stop there. She created an online profile of a girl that she thought this boy might like; the Jillian profile. She connected online with him and they began an online-virtual relationship. Unfortunately, it didn't stop there, she continued using the profile to befriend other girls and to have phone sex and sext with boys. It snowballed into what became the Jillian profile.

A lot of thee information I acquired from Mellissa Sue Johnson's formspring.
Other information was acquired from the dozens of girls and guys that contacted in the weeks after Jillian was exposed on Talk-Sports.com.
More to come.
