Pope plays third base for the Amarillo Sox of the American Association, the best of the independent leagues. He is easily the best fielder on the team, and I think he will be back in affiliated ball before the season is over.

Oh yeah, he's currently batting .349

He was going to play for the Lancaster Barnstormers, then he got traded to play for the York Revolution! Yay! Vanny's back!

Curious to know if Van has been able to hook on with a team. He is a fantastic third baseman and with the proper coaching could have been a good player. Hope is able to give it one more try.

Van has one of the biggest hearts someone can have, I kno from recent experience, so all of you jealous of him that feel to talk badly , you need to go get a life.... He still has it in him to be the best ball player.. and i have faith in him that he will be back on top of his game this year.

Does anyone know if Van Pope got picked up by another team. He's probably the best third baseman I've ever seen. I think he let personal issues get in the way of baseball--hope to see him somewhere soon

I agree. Van's number one enemy is himself......

I still think he's the best defensive player around and could stack up against anyone. Too bad swinging the bat means so much.....
