I live in a suburb of Cleveland, and I went to an Indians game a couple years ago with a friend when the Blue Jays were in town. She has seats behind the visitors dugout, and I was sitting there and David Eckstein came up and started talking to me. He was very friendly and personable and we talked about 15 minutes. Vernon Wells even said "hi" to me. My friend and I are going to all 4 games when the Sox are in town in June, and it doesn't sound like Beckett on a non-pitching day and the other players would be like that. My Sox friends and I are planning to go to games in Chicago, Detroit and Toronto so if anybody knows where the players might hang out in those cities and in Cleveland after the game . . . . . . . . .

I've been to games, the previous post was right, when any pitcher is on the mound, they are in a zone.. on pitching day, they talk to no one, and keep focused throughout the day.. I went to a game one day when Lester was pitching, it was probaly in his 2nd yr. with the Sox, I was standing near the bull pen, I said hi to him while he was warming up, and he said hello back, he got yelled at by the pitching coach.. they are very strict. Anyways, you're best bet is to go out after games, they do go out, not sure where.

I highly doubt Beckett looks around when he is pitching. He's totally focused out there on the mound and in the dugout. Maybe he does when he's not playing, but most of those guys aren't thinking about anything but the game. You can see what happened to Tek when his personal life was a mess in 2008, he was horrible hitter.

Does anybody know if he looks into the stands at games (home and away) if an attractive girl is sitting behind the Red Sox dugout - could that get his attention?

Beckett is a ladies man.... he is a good guy... get his attention and he'll notice.. he is great with charity work, and has a heart of gold... I've never met him, or talked to him, so, i don't really know.. I can just tell you what I have observed. buy him a drink, that'll get his attention, possibly a gin and tonic with a lime?

I have, but, they were his friends, his team mates, and their girlfriends... he is wonderful with THEM... but, doesn't care about anyone else around...

Mike Lowell is a great guy, I met him, he took time to greet all of his fans... I understand why Beckett is so guarded... if he wasn't, everyone would be all over him... I just wish every now and then he'd give in... I've been in places where he hangs out, and believe me, he has fun with his friends....

I wouldn't say shy so much as cautious. Look who he hangs out with and has working for him--his high school friends. On the Sox he mostly hangs out with Mike Lowell. I get the idea he doesn't let too many people in. That might explain Whitney--maybe he thought she'd be different since he'd undoubtedly known her for a while.

went to the Beckett Bowl this past year, and he wanted nothing to do with his fans..... I love the man, but, seems very cocky.... but, he seems like a great guy, probally just couln't be bothered with everyone all over him... I guess I don't blame him

Maybe I should have said he didn't treat her like a gf. I don't mean he had to be all over her but he really seemed to keep her at arms length. I remember after the Sox won the World Series they were shown meeting on the field and he just gave her a peck on the cheek like he was greeting other guests on a talk show or something.

I don't know, it was a weird relationship. I mean he was friends with her brother since high school and then all of a sudden it's like "wow, your sister's hot, can I date her"? Particularly considering said friend works for him as well? Maybe it was an attempt at an image clean-up but by many accounts he didn't treat her all that well.

Then you haven't been reading recently. I think he's done with Hollie because he always brings his girlfriends with him to his events, like he brought Hollie to the All-Star game, but for the past couple of months he's been turning up solo.
