OMG why do any of you even care? The only thing I care about is him that is why I am in his fan club! I don't know why you are cause all you guys care about is if he is white or black! I love Evan to death and I get VERY offended when you are rude about him. And I hate anyone that is! If you really care about him then be in his fan club! If you care about spreading stupid rumors and gossip about him the join a different club! Not this one! That is my advice.

He has some Spanish in him even if he doesn't want anyone to know. Longoria is a Spanish/italian name. Like eva longoria she's Mexican. He's teamate Matt garza is also Mexican but I think they try to hide it by talking like white boys

Maybe I can help clear up any questions about Evan's ethnic/cultural heritage. His father is of Mexican descent with some Native American and, I believe, French mixed in (although, it could be Spanish) and his mother's family is Eastern European (Czechoslovakian). So he's a mixed bag, but mostly Latino and Caucasian. I hesitated to even post anything out here because I grew up with Evan and I know he likes to keep his private life private. But, in the interest of getting the story right, I don't think this one little tid-bit is going to blow the cover off any big family secrets. And, for the record, he is one of the nicest young men you'd ever want to meet . . . very nice, modest, humble, a real decent guy. There might be some party photos or stories involving a young man trying to get a grasp on sudden celebrity, but they are all harmless and they don't change what a great guy he is. I've literally known him his entire life and he's truly stand-up - - always has been. And finally, if you think Evan's hot, you should see his sister. Damn!! |

Longoria is historically an Italian name. Its possible that the Longoria name made its way to Spain and later to Mexico...but the roots of the name and genealogy are Italian.

by the way, he's a link to an article stating that he was invited to play for Mexico so hopefully that will end some of the debate.http://www.raysindex.com/category/01-players/jp-howell "Now that we know Evan Longoria will not be playing for the US in the World Baseball Classic, we have to wonder if Mexico will once again extend an invitation. Longoria made it known that he was contacted “informally” about playing for Mexico but declined the offer because his first choice was to play for the US." |

Longoria is of Mexican descent. He was eligible to play for team Mexico during the last WBC but chose to play for the US team instead. I also saw a pic of Evan and his parents. His dad is ethnically mestizo looking with olive skin and jet black hair. His mother on the other hand has fairer skin so he could be of a mixed mexican and caucasian background like Michael Young from the Rangers. Here's the pic: http://s3.amazonaws.com/images.nachofoto.com/b-Evan-Longoria-celebr-4228bfc9dc8f.jpeg Re: Btw, I visited his myspace page and it doesnt list his ethnicity but it could be a fake page anyway |

Longoria is a spanish name, but i don't know his ethnicity. I did however, hear him speaking some Spanish to Pena during a spring training practice and he spoke pretty well.not saying he is fluent, but he can speak at least a little Spanish.

The word "Hispanic" refers to anyone of Latin American or Spanish/Portuguese culture or having roots from these areas regardless of race. You can be of Chinese ancestry (race), grow up in Panama and yes, you are Hispanic (ethnicity). Likewise, an American Caucasian growing up in Guatemala would also be Hispanic. So Longoria could be of Mexican descent but may be racially Caucasian. I don't know if that's the case but the terms race and ethnicity are different. |
