It wasen't Putz's fault the Diamondbacks lost to the Brewers in the NLDS if you look at the big picture Chris Young makes the catch of a life time to save a run and then Ian Kennedy chokes and allows a run the next batter, then in the 8th you have a runner on 3rd with 1 out and you can't sack him home and in the Ninth they only get 1 run when they have runners on first and second with no one outs after they tie the game..The Diamondbacks choked as a team flat out!!!

I don't know about Kirk Gibson as a manager in the tigers game it was a no brainer you let saunders go at least 8 and he took him out after 7 and as far as Putz gos he sucks flat out Micah Owings is there best bull pen pichter and should be made the closer....case closed.

Let's be fair... JJ Putz isn't doing as well as he did in 2007. But nobody should expect him to. His record in 2007 was absolutely PHENOMENAL! That odds of him having a season like that twice in a row is slim to ziltch.

Considering he has been injured twice, he has still done a fantastic job as the M's closer and he's done enough for the club that he deserves to be cut some slack if he has a few bad outings. (And I mean "a few." He hasn't had anywhere as near as many bad outings as you are making it sound.)

As if that isn't reason enough to keep him around... what about the fans? The fans are angry because the M's have had such a miserable year. But JJ Putz is one of the most liked players on the team... I think I've been to enough games and heard the crowd reaction when "Thunderstruck" by ACDC starts playing to know what a stadium of 35,000 people think of JJ Putz. And these are baseball fans... they don't like the guy because of his weird facial hair... they like him because he is a huge asset to the ballclub.

I DO however agree whole-heartedly that Miguel Batista is a waste and the M's can't get rid of him fast enough.
Yes, take JJ out and make a package deal with Batista! They both suck! Batista is the worst pitcher I have seen in the majors and JJ is a washed up bench rider. Why is Batista even in the big boy league?
yes,jj does suck. I am a big mariner fan, and I love seeing our club win, which lately is getting more and more rare. Today we were behind by 7 runs. Then we came back and tied it 10-9. That never happens, and with the mariners, that is huge! We had only the bottom of the 9th left,and lord behold, in comes jj. By a matter of about 8 pitches,  the Rangers turned around and made it a 11-9 win. JJ was once very good, but he is worn out, he needs to leave, he does us nothing!
