BTW, in Lee's press conference he shot down the rumors about the Yankee fans mistreating his wife (spitting on her, throwing stuff at her, etc). BUT a little part of me still believes some of it happened lol

Mrs. Lee seems like such an approachable nice woman. I'm so glad the Lees are back in town!!!! First class family all the way, God bless. Hope they had a Merry Christmas. Let's Go Phillies!!!!!!

I am not surprised at all, if she had a lot to do with his not signing with the Wankees, I mean the Yankees! She was assaulted in my opinion having beer thrown at her, verbally abused, and being spit on, which is apalling! I just came over to Lee's forum since he's the most talked about player at the moment. I have a cousin in NY and of course he's a Yankees fan. I can honestly say Yankees fans are the most atrocious, miserable, rude, & negative to the core type of  people I've ever been around! I love NYC, but not Yankees fans, and that includes my cousin! I don't blame Lee's wife for not wanting him to sign with them, and he was offered less money by the Phillies. I think that has a lot say about the Lee's and having integrity. Something Yankees fans know nothing about...And reading on the Fan Blog wishing that Cliff Lee's arm gets blown out, or that his plane crashes just validates even more the type of people that Yankees fans are-NEGATIVE TO THE CORE & MISERABLE! Have some common sense and think, use your brain, that your punishment thru Karma may come around the corner and kick you in the face when you wish such ill will towards people you don't even know!!!

According to Buster Olney, the contract is $138 million for 6 years (that's $23 million a year) with an option for a seventh year at $16 million.

Cliff just accepted a 5-year contract with... the Phillies?!

Yeah, I'm surprised, too. But he'll hopefully be welcomed back by the fans in a big way. Tomorrow we'll probably find out the dollar amount of the contract.

CC Sabathia is trying to woo Cliff to the Yankees. They are friends so that could factor into where Cliff signs. At the same time, a few Rangers players are rumored to have contacted Cliff in an effort to convince him to re-sign with the Rangers.

Uncle Cliffy will probably stay with the Rangers.  He has no love lost for the Yanks.  Boston and Los Angeles will bid though.

The Rangers offered Cliff arbitration today. Not really a surprising move. If Cliff declines arbitration and ends up in Yankees pinstripes next season (or any other team's uniform for that matter), the Rangers get that team's draft picks.

Word is that the Yankees are poised to offer Cliff a 5-year contract worth $115 - 120 million. Of course, Nolan won't let Cliff go without a fight and is prepared to match the Evil Empire's offer.

Real classy, Yankees fans. Insulting, spitting on, and throwing beers at the wife of the pitcher your team is coveting will not convince him to wear Yankees pinstripes.

I would not be surprised if Kristen gets the final say on where Cliff ends up going after the World Series.
