Yankee slugger Jason Giambi wears a gold lam�, tiger-stripe thong under his uniform when he wants to break out of a slump - and he shares it with hitless teammates who want to get back on track.

"I only put it on when I'm desperate to get out of a big slump," he tells Portfolio.com.

Over the years, the 37-year-old All-Star has left the "golden thong" in the lockers of slumping teammates Derek Jeter, Bernie Williams, Johnny Damon, Robin Ventura and Robinson Cano.

"All of them wore it and got hits," he reports. "The thong works every time."

He may want to slip it on soon: He's hitting a dismal .188 with seven homers and 20 RBI in 33 games for the struggling Bronx Bombers, who are heading into a Subway Series tonight against the lackluster Mets.

He says he's oblivious to the Bronx jeers.

"I never hear the boos because I'm too busy booing myself," he tells the Web site. "No critic is worse on me than me: I can beat myself up pretty good."

He's in the final guaranteed season of a seven-year, $120 million contract and is pulling in $23.4 million - second highest in the majors behind teammate Alex Rodriguez.

Giambi doesn't plan to hang up his cleats - or his thong - just yet, but he's not worried about it.

"I could care less," he tells Portfolio.com. "As long as I can have a fast boat and a margarita machine and can light my hair on fire, I'll be just fine."

Does Jeter have a slew foot or something? I guess that's what it's called. His pictures most of the time his right foot always looks twisted or something.  He could be just standing in one spot and that right foot is slightly turned no matter if he's playing. It's like he has a deformed foot which could be why sometimes he hops when he walks or like he has a limp at times. Something like his legs or foot is weird looking. He has enough money to take care of that problem, but it looks weird.

Jeter may be making his home California in the future no matter if he has to pay state taxes. Sean will be happy and It'll be worth it considering....

 The California Supreme Court ruled today that same-sex couples should be permitted to marry, rejecting state marriage laws as discriminatory.

    The state high court's 4-3 ruling was unlikely to end the debate over gay matrimony in California. A group has circulated petitions for a November ballot initiative that would amend the state Constitution to block same-sex marriage, while the Legislature has twice passed bills to authorize gay marriage. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed both.

Derek Jeter has a terrible VORP
Crash asked me this morning to check Derek Jeter's VORP, so I did. Here is his ranking among shortstops (13th overall). Here is his overall ranking (tied for 124th with J.D. Drew).

Of course, of course, it's still early, and Jeter historically hits better in the second half. He also missed a week with a quad injury. But still, are any of you alarmed by Jeter's lack of power?
