Ichiro does not suck hes the best japanese player to come to the U.S he holds the all time hits in one season and has an cannon for an arm.He is getting old but when you look at his rookie season he was really good Ichiro is bound to become an Hall Of Famer .He had  a horrible 2011 season but like I said hes getting older so are other Hall of famers like Mariano Rivera or Derek Jeter.Ichiro is not the best player but he has been a very helpful player for the Seattle Mariners if you saw Ichiro leave there would be an dramatic change in the ranking of the Mairners.

He is hitting 256 since the all star break.He rarely walks-he sucks as a lead off hitter. Wedge has to play him to keep the Japanese owners happy.He and this franchise suck big time! I feel sorry for Seattle fans having to watch this team suck year after year after year.

Ichiro is a joke, he's batting 269 with 1 hr and only 18 extra base hits and only 27 rbi's. He's lost a step and can no longer chissle 60 infield hits a season, but he still does that stupid running swing because nobody likes him enough to tell him how stupid it is. Ichiro is a spoiled stubborn pos who gets special treatment from his Japanese owned team that's why nobody likes him or gets on his case. His own teammates can't stand him so he gets to stay in a different better hotel on the road. He also hates america that's why he refuses to learn english and goes out of his way to dis cities like Detroit and Cleveland. It's gonna be awesome watching him struggle next year when he's even slower.

It makes me sick to think he will probably get into the Hall of Fame. I've been a Mariner fan for 20 years and can't stand the selfish way he plays. He's all about his statistics. If the ownership weren't Japanese, then he'd be gone, but it looks like they will keep him until he retires. He get's 19Million a year, and could be replaced by 2 players who'd have better stats, and RBIs and a starting pitcher for half the money.

I watch Ichiro almost every game.  He steals third with two outs. Cuz he loves stats.  Rarely walks, even when the situation calls for it cuz he'll swing at ball four three or 4 times, trying to get a hit instead of getting on base. Cuz he loves stats.  Poorest excuse for a lead-off hitter I've ever seen.  Needs to be somewhere else in the line-up cuz he like to swing the bat. He WANTS hits.  When you need him to drive the ball, like with a runner on second base, he'll chop one into the ground, advance the guy to third, no rbi, but he'll get the HIT he craves cuz he a stat  HOG.  He'll no doubt get his 200 hits this year, again.  Who Cares?  I could go on, but my BP won't allow it.  Did I mention that he LOVES stats?

I am Japanese. So trust me. He is more overrated than USA. because Japanese baseball dont develop Sabermetrics. Most Japanese believe in BA is best, they are not interested in OBP and SLG at all. and Japanese media dont report the importance of walk and OBP and SLG and OPS and so on. Thats why kosuke fukudome who walked 93 times and his OBP is .375 last year and .386 this year(ichiro is .359 this year) or hideki matsui who also walk and OPS.912 in 2004( you know many Japanese hitter are slap hitters , japanese dont have power　on race level, on that point , he hit 20 home runs among Japanese in Major Leagues, and, as for what can earn 100 runs batted in, there is only him. That the same player comes out will be doubt in future.)　Though some poeple think ichiro can  hit HR more, I do not think so that Ichiro can hit more than 20 home runs in Major Leagues. Even if I considers his AB number of the league top. Because if it is thrown a ball on the outside, he has only slap hit.　
ichiro salary is 18M but he does a lot of advertisement contracts in Japan. so his real sarary is 32M.
Imagine Juan Pierre earn 32M a year like A-rod.

What the hell, are you people stupid? Like someone else said, put him on the Yankees and he'd be one of the most praised players in the league. People say he "only hits singles" and "only has a high average because of infield hits". Well, what's wrong with infield hits? What's wrong with singles? Pete Rose mainly hit for singles (look up his stats) and no one gives him shit for it. He'd be in the HOF easily if it weren't for his betting on baseball thing.

As for Ichiro's defense skills, 9 straight Gold Gloves don't lie: He plays awesome in the outfield. And thanks to his speed he can cover ground quickly.

On base, he is a speed demon. Sure he's never matched his 2001 total of 56 stolen, but he at least gets over 30 per year, which is very very good.

So what if he hits infield, does he hit? Who decided that a hit has to cross the in-field.  It does not matter if he gets a hit in infield or he gets a hit by bunting 50% of the time. The point is every single time he gives your team a quality at-bat and gives you the chance of advancing the bases

I live in Seattle and love the Mariners, but Ichiro sucks. Take away his infield single crap, and he hits .270, so no, he isnt a great hitter. And his OBP is like .030 higher than his average, and he hits for no power. Try getting on base better than 40 percent of the time if you are hitting .360

Adam Dunn is better than Ichiro.

Career stats:

Dunn: .247 BA, .381 OBP, 130 OPS , 278 HR (averages 40 per season), 797 walks (114 walks per season), 59 steals, caught 19 times, 75.6% stolen bases

Ichiro:

.331 BA, .377 OBP, 117 OPS , 73 HR (averages 9 per season), 380 walks (48 walks per season), 315 steals, caught 70 times, 81.8% stolen bases

Also, Dunn had an SecA average of .515 in 2008, which was the best in the majors (Pujols was 2nd with a .502 SecA). Meanwhile, Ichiro had an SecA of .207 (124th in majors). That's terrible.

Despite Dunn's career BA (which is a very overrated statistic) being like 84 points lower than Ichiro's BA, Dunn has a higher OBP. Dunn could possibly be one of the most patient hitters to ever play.

Ichiro may be fine by himself, but baseballs a team sport. He gets on base because the other team cannot believe that he actually swings and sometimes hits the worst pitches while passing on the pitch down the middle. You never want to be on base when Ichiro is up because he is going to hit into the fielders choice and you'll be out. He may sell tickets but he's no A-Rod, Griffey, or any number of players Seattle has let get away. M's should have unloaded him years ago. But its not about titles in Seattle its about $$$.
