Jason Bay sucks. Plain and simple. He was never a good hitter. He played in Boston where right handed hitters have the luxury of a short left field even though the wall is very tall (hence his high output of doubles) and unless you hit the ball to dead center field, its a hitters park.

As for Pittsburg, another hitters park and when you are 30 games out of first every year and expected to be so, there is no pressure. Its easy to hit when no one cares LOL.

NY has high expectations, a lot of visibility and a ton of media. He cant handle the pressure, the Mets are retarded for signing him even at all. I wouldnt have that bumb on my team for free. And here they are, paying almost 19 Million this year for him to hit under .200 again with no power.

A ton of those doubles and homers he hit in boston are lazy fly balls in Citi Field. He is a garbage hitter and I wish the Mets would just cut ties with the loser. HE SUCKS!!!!!!

Reply-to:LOL Used to be? a good hitter? Please let your friend know, respectfully, that elite athletes paid THIS MUCH MONEY to STAY CONSISTENT at this level are not just one -time good hitters... He signed one of the most lucrative deals in baseball history with the METS as a less than average player and that was the Mets past managements biggest blunder ever. He is making as much, actually more money than future Hall of Famers playing in the game and who have played the game--the best of the best! Makes no sense...Plus, his work ethic is sub-par. He finds any excuse to sit the bench or walk to first base. Watch him at bat...he breathes deep, nervous...doesnt even swing the bat with passion or have any fire in his eyes. Nice guy? Maybe...But there are plenty of nice guys on and off the field not collecting the cushy salary and working hard for their money...Not hurting the efforts of their team day in and out. Jason Bay--Rally killer. Season 2012 is here and its Groundhog Bay ...again!

Mets past management biggest blunder ever. So true.

He's 33 now so his age is showing through his stats. He was in Boston two years. One year, he played not many games, the other year he did. I think both years, his BA was high twos and his OBP was high threes which is kinda 'eh' IMO. He is a good guy though. We liked him. He treated Boston fans really well.

I'm back with the disgraceful stats on this LOSER...

0 for 35 on the road --A new Mets hitless streak he just set for a record. Historic Groundhog Bay. BTW, he just choked again with RISP, ANOTHER grounder to short, Mets are behind Cubs. This has been the routine all year.

Games have been lost --Imagine where we would be without him?! Our scrappy club has pulled some amazing wins together with our rookie players. It's called heart and raw talent.

Anonymous (Rookie) wrote on Sat, 03 Sep 2011 23:52:25 GMT
Well, Groundhog Bay has set a new dubious METS record...He now has the longest (no-hitting) dry streak at the plate on the road, shattering the record held since 1972... I am checking the stats and will report back after this game with the numbers. This SOB needs to go and needs to go NOW. We can't take another 2 years of this--are you kidding me??? Eat the contract METS. He's more detrimental in the lineup and in the field than gone for good. He is a brick wall and a rally killer EVERY time he steps into the box. He is being paid more in one year than most of the greats in the Hall of Fame ever saw in all of their tremendous careers. None of this makes sense to me. Bay is the worst train wreck ever for my dear orange and blue.

Met offense looking anemic as usual, with Groundhog Bay's 2 hits leading the way 2nite against the Marlins, wow & one of em off the pitchers leg. They owe this dude over $36mil and he has 9 homers! The Mets r still paying Bobby Bonilla a mil a yr,but paying Bay to be a good guy in the clubhouse and be the 3rd best fielding LF in the NL pisses me off.Release him, trade him,eat the salary, waive him,do something,& moving to center ain't cuttin' it,even tho Pagan stinks too.

Anonymous (Rookie) wrote on Wed, 20 Jul 2011 00:41:55 GMT
Note to Jason: you can't reach the damn ball! You rarely if ever put good wood on the ball. Maybe you could try a different approach. Because I can't take this shite anymore! And maybe until you actually improve (and I don't mean where you hit 300 for a week going 9 for 28 all singles) maybe you would allow a competent hitter who may actually drive in a run or hit an extra base hit. Just asking broheim, peace.

IT'S GROUNDHOG BAY! Every frickin' gameday it's the same thing over and over...KKKKK's, ground balls into double plays, fly ball outs, foul ball outs, CHOKE with RISP...Oh, and did you just puke the other night when the ball hit him on the head when he flat-out MISSED a routine catch in left? It's called "I lost my game and passion --(whatever passion he had)because I get paid so much I'm good...no matter what... " BTW, the foul ball he tried to dive for and "caught" last night ("oooh I might get my pants dirty but I have to do something to keep my job") against the Marlins was actually a TRAPPED ball--NO ONE, not the announcers, after multiple replays, no one caught this! I saw it , plain and clear and Bay knew it. Did anyone else pick that one up? I am so sick of this tool that I just needed to get all of this off my chest. Feel better now.

Anonymous (Rookie) wrote on Mon, 18 Jul 2011 03:56:29 GMT

Anonymous (Rookie) wrote on Sat, 16 Jul 2011 04:16:02 GMT
Jason bay sucks ultimately cuz the coaches suck. think about it. Is anyone hitting on this team?
Just looking at him you could see how much is wrong.
He stands too far away from the plate, Gives up the entire outer third. His body angle  is wrong as well. He has totally over compensated to his inside vulnerability and can't hit anything from the middle of the plate outward.
Plus he sucks
Anonymous (Rookie) wrote on Wed, 29 Jun 2011 21:39:45 GMT

I was optimistic he would be a good player for us coming into last year. And then he got off to that horrendous start and thought "Ah, he's just off to a bad start he'll turn it around..."

He didn't. Right there neck and neck with Oli Perez for worst signing/resigning since I've been a Mets fans. They should do the same thing to him they did to Oli. DUMP HIM IMMEDIATLY. He can't play simple as that. He's got his money he's content and doesn't give a damn anymore. Get rid of him.

Anonymous (Rookie) wrote on Sun, 19 Jun 2011 21:13:31 GMT

Wow...Just keeps getting worse and worse...Just when you think you've seen it all, he strikes out again AND again or hits into a double play in a key, clutch situation. CHOKE. He is literally afraid to come up to bat. He has the worst numbers out of ANY hitter in the national league right now...This includes rookies...who are making $500K compared to his 19 million (this season)I am feeling so sick...He is instrumental in helping to  LOSE GAMES FOR MY METS!!

Getting worse and worse with each day...This is no "slump", this is a shmuck who got paid waaaay too much to play and lost his heart and passion for the game. METS need to bench him NOW! He is wasting crucial at-bats for the team in clutch situations. He is more valuable collecting splinters riding the pine. Wish we could trade him out or dump him off...HELP! Most devastating mistake EVER for my team!

Get this piece of crap off my team immediately.  I hope everyone realizes he's making over $110,000 per game, regardless of his performance?  When he sat out the other day (the one game he should've played given the absense of Reyes on top of Wright and Ike), he still made $110,000.  I'd like to be completely incompetent in my job and make that kind of money.  Complete joke, what is this investment banking?

Jason never should have left Boston.  Anyone questioning his heart, his talent or his ability to adapt to the hot glare of the spotlight - well this guy replaced MANNY RAMIREZ in Boston, came in with impossible expectations from arguably the most demanding fanbase in baseball, and he absolutely killed.  Had the perfect swing for Fenway and became quickly loved up there.  The Sox wanted to keep him, and knew exactly what he was worth.  Bay should have recognized he had the perfect situation and signed.  Instead he held out and left himself hanging.   He is totally wrecked at Shiti Field and it is a sad, miserable situation all around.  He is a good guy who made a bad move and he seems wrecked.

Anonymous (Rookie) wrote on Tue, 10 May 2011 13:25:08 GMT

This is why Jason Bay sucks and is a complete waste of money: in 110 games as a Met he's hit 7 home runs and driven in only 52 runs.  He's making the big bucks to PRODUCE, not show up.  Nevermind that he's only hitting .254 with a .735 OPS as a Met - I would be able to live with those numbers if he actually drove in runs, but that's the problem: he doesn't.  Oh, and his GO/AO ratio of 0.95 is a complete disgrace for a guy who's supposed to hit home runs.

For all of you "Come on, he's not that bad" people out there, he's hitting .252 with RISP as a Metropolitan, and is literally frightened of coming to the plate in a close game after the 7th inning.  He's got his money, he doesn't care.  Get him off my team right now.

not worth the 66 million dollars
Anonymous (Rookie) wrote on Mon, 26 Jul 2010 20:07:41 GMT
I'm from Pittsburgh so I know him better than most. I thought he would do better. He's a really nice guy who got in way over his head playing for a New York team with an enormous left field that he can't cover or hit out of. The other teams probably knew that his last season was a fluke, and he wasn't worth more than 4years/$34 million. He did put up a few good years in Pittsburgh too but he is way too "streaky" to give a 4 year /$66 million contract to PLUS he strikes out way too much. I feel sorry for him and the New York fans because it's going to be a bad marriage for both. I bet he finishes this year (2010) at: .265 16 82 2011: .278 22 95  2012: .275 25 92 Those numbers for that kind of money is deplorable. What a waste of money!

OMG...Ralph Kiner said it best last weekend when he described Bay's lack of performance as "devastating" to the Mets organization. Most every time he is up in a clutch situation, he CHOKES. He may get a hit now and then, but he is paid BIG to be a power hitter and to drive in runs.

Mets made a huge mistake signing him...I hope they can unload this tool. He is a loser, he SUCKS.

As a Yankees fan I'm glad the Red Sox were not able to retain his services but you can't really be angry at him.  Its not like he came up in the Sox farm system and played with them for many years and ditched you guys; he was there for a short while and then left.  The Mets, whom I hate as well, if they can stay healthy in 2010 will be a forced to be reckoned with assuming they get a decent 2 and 3 starter.  Bay knew what he was doing, I don't think it was just about the money (it was only 1.5 million more per year).
Anonymous (Sophomore) wrote on Mon, 28 Dec 2009 21:55:20 GMT
