It's not Jeff Mathis's fault, he is what he is and Angels fans just had to learn to accept him. He was like the best defensive catcher but if they Angels are going to compete with the Rangers they can't have him in their line-up. So, sorry Mathis, it was just a really important need for the team to move on.

Jeff, just read about your trade to Toronto.  So sorry to see you go.  Loved seeing you work behind the plate.  They're hanging the "you can't hit" sign on you, but I think you can.  You were doing great in 2010 until you got hit with the pitch that broke your wrist.  I think the Angels made a mistake.  Your defensive skills and the way you handled the staff were outstanding.  Good luck in Toronto.

Mathis has got to go.. and I don't really blame Mathis, I blame the front office for trading Napoli and forcing Mathis who can't hit a lick to play every day. Perhaps a trade of Abreu to the marlins for John Buck would be appropriate.

You guys want to hear a funny story? I got fabulous seats at an Angels game, so close, in fact, you could hear what the players were talking about. My grandpa gets very excited at home games, and there was a runner on first who was tempting to steal. when he was out about steal, Weaver( who was pitching that hot summers day) threw the ball, Mathis caught it, my grandfather shouts at the top of his lungs "FIRST BASE!" And at that very moment, Mathis threw the ball to first and got the guy out. All the fans in that area cheered, and the other teams runner looked at my grandpa like he was going to kill him. LOL.
Jeff Mathis and Mike Napoli were named as plantiffs in the lawsuit challenging the legal and civil matters against California's Prop 8. Oh, yes it's true. They are in love with each other.
