I strongly believe it takes two in a relationship, let's all pray that Lackey and Krista can end things on a positive note, and move toward an optimistic future for both of them. What we need in this world anyway is more prayer, and less fighting for us all.

Reply-to:Why doesnt everybody just leave the poor guy alone? Calling someone names destroys your credibility. Why call us names? Why not just state a comment and ask the question?

Red Sox fans are really upset with him b/c he filed for divorce in late August when the Red Sox were battling for a playoff berth. He couldn't wait a few weeks till after the season or after they were out of contention? He was, after all, protected by a prenup.

He filed under their initials which is completely legal in Texas so while that's not a problem, the info was picked up by TMZ. Instead of yelling at the person who dropped a dime to TMZ, he yelled at the Boston and national sports media in the Red Sox clubhouse after a 14 inning game where we won against the NYY and he was the WP. That win put us one game closer to post season play. Fans want to hear about the game not TMZ. He filed for divorce ... under names or initials ... it becomes public record.

His behavior struck Boston fans as being downright self centered. Address the fans first. Control yourself and talk to your agent b/f you scream at the media about personal stuff. Once he opened the door to letting us know all about his personal life, then it all became fair game. He made it public.

If you notice, I'm not addressing his wife's health or their marital problems or who may be at fault about the divorce. I'm talking about a public figure who is a highly paid professional opening the door to his private life at a press conference at his employer's place where he should have been talking about his work and nothing else.

And whoever is talking about his having a gf in Calif who is blonde and older ... I think that person is a friend of the person or is the actual person. Geez. Don't do that to the guy. The guys in divorce proceedings and someone is talking about his dating. And let's not hurt his wife's feeling while she fights cancer.

Such a mess. He should have kept the door shut.

Why doesnt everybody just leave the poor guy alone? Ive seen the guy out and hes just hanging out with friends. People shouldnt assume that just because hes got a chick around him in texas or in newport that its his girl friend. speaking of assuming, how do all you guys know that the divorce is all JOHN LACKEYS FAULT? Idiots.

Anonymous (Sophomore) wrote on Wed, 07 Dec 2011 10:12:05 GMT

It doesn't matter if he has filed for divorce already or not - posting that he has another girlfriend is bad form. It hurts his wife and it'll really bite him in the rear end in court. I know. My brother in law (now ex actually) left my sister and posted many photos of himself and other women on his FB. He had already moved out. They were separated. You better believe my sister used said photos against him. She got the house and a huge settlement. Divorce court judges hate to see this kind of behavior played out on the internet. You're married until your last court date. When you go into the waiting period ... then you're good to go.

Reply-to:Theo Epstein would like you all to believe that it is Terry Franconas fault that John Lackey and Carl Crawford suck. I think it is time to open a Theo Epstein Sucks thread. Whos with me?

I think that's not accurate to say. Theo wanted Tito to stay. It was Lucchino, Werner, and Henry who weren't in support of Francona. John Henry has eaten salaries of other guys before but for some reason, he wants to try again with Lackey and Crawford. Maybe John Henry is running low on money (lol) because he doesn't want to buy these guys out and boot them. Lackey has tremendous behavioral problems. The FO had to know that but took him anyway.

I can see the Sox picking up Big Papi for two more years. It's very hard to be the DH. He's perhaps the best DH in history and he's also important to the now completely dysfunctional clubhouse. Another option would be to have Youk become the DH and let Ortiz go. I can't see that happen. Why lose one when you can have both?

Anonymous (Sophomore) wrote on Sat, 01 Oct 2011 18:20:10 GMT
Stats don't lie. If someone is saying that being in scoring position is better than being on first well yeah that's true.
Anonymous (Rookie) wrote on Sat, 01 Oct 2011 17:14:44 GMT

Reply-to:His OPB is 398 so it doesnt matter about reaching second. You cant score unless you get on base so as long as he gets to first, hes good. Moneyball.

Really? His out was the second of the inning. Instead of men on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out it was man on third with 2 out. The next batter ground out to 2nd to end the inning. Before you send him to Cooperstown I'll point out he had 1 homer in September. In the last week he went 7 for 29 with 1 RBI. Yes, I agree there were far worse players but I would not resign a 36 year old player that wants 12.5m plus per year for that performance.

Anonymous (Rookie) wrote on Fri, 30 Sep 2011 17:35:14 GMT
Universally people say Crawford is a nice guy - media, other players. Okay. Fine. But somewhere somehow he forgot how to play baseball. I think his B.A. is 260 and his on base percentage is well under 3. And he played a lot of games. And then Lackey and Wakefield. OMG.
Anonymous (Sophomore) wrote on Fri, 30 Sep 2011 16:43:15 GMT
That's right, any guy with a 400 OBP is NOT the problem, the problem is guys with a .285 OBP (our LF) or Johnny Sh!tstain with his 6:49 ERA. Thats why you miss the playoffs, Ortiz and papelbon played good all year, even Scutaro was "worth" his 7 million a year. But Dice K, Crawford, Lackey, Drew, etc. just kills us, imagine if we could sign dudes like Pujols, Cliff Lee etc. but we sign turds instead

Dear John:

I am not a devote baseball fan...sorry football is more my thing.  I am a 45 year old woman that is disgusted that the media and people are jedging your personal relationships without knowing both sides.  Whether your marriage has been years on the outs or whether you left her because of other issues in nobodies business.  I know that it is part of being in the limelight but I just saw your anguish on TV over the tect message and felt I had to take a few minutes.

So, now we learn that he is divorcing his wife who is battling breast cancer! Now I hate this piece of excrement even more. He sucks on the mound AND to boot he has absolutely zero morals, as well. I hope the Sox find some loop-hole in this a-hole's contract and toss his sorry ass to the curb, just like he did to his wife when she needed him most. Just because something is reported in the "media," especially by TMZ, does not make it true. I feel bad for Lackey, 'cause he's obviously got a lot of personal problems, perhaps so much so that it's impossible for him to focus on the game.

That's what galls me about this site, and sites like it. The players are human beings, with human emotions, and they have problems just like the rest of us. If your S. O. was going through breast cancer, how would you do your job?

I've said it before and now I'll say it again. The Sox MUST clean house with their so-called "management." This means adios Francona and bye, bye Theo. This also includes the entire pitching staff including coaches. The are bleeding guys. Then and only then can the Sox heal the wounds. I agree with the guy about embarrassing Lackey out the same way he has embarrassed the entire Red Sox Nation. He is pathetic, but he's not alone. Watching Francona's snail's pace in removing all the lousy pitchers from the mound makes me ill.
Anonymous (Rookie) wrote on Tue, 20 Sep 2011 21:00:05 GMT
Let's be constructive, Red Sox fans. How can we get rid of this Double-A pitcher posing as major leaguer? Shooting him is illegal, so that's out. Trading him and his contract is not very likely; there are no actual retards working as GMs in MLB. Releasing him sticks the Sox with his salary, hamstringing Boston's efforts to sign players of a higher caliber than mediocrities like Jed Lowrie and Josh Reddick. I say make Lackey demand to be let out of his contract. Humiliate him. Have him pitch BP - everyday. Name him the official "Mop-Up" reliever. State Red Sox policy that whenever Lackey is on the mound, another red Sox pitcher MUST be warming up in the bullpen. Bring him into a game, have him throw one pitch and then take him out...over and over again. You all can come up with even more good ideas. Go to it. Let's be constructive and find ways to shame this SOB out of Boston - ASAP!

The ankle sprain was a fluke. Beckett and Aceves remain THE only pitchers even worth even discussing. Lackey, Weiland, Wakefield, Pabelbom, Bard, etal should all be shown the door.
Anonymous (Rookie) wrote on Tue, 20 Sep 2011 00:31:33 GMT
Are you kidding...keep Beckett? Sprain an ankle falling off the mound? Lackey...take yourself out of the equation and have the surgery. The team doesn't like playing behind you, the fans don't like watching your Jay Cutler like attitude and the New England region sees the pitching staff as the main reason for the sudden slide. The attitude on the mound is supposed to reflect the attitude of the team...not bring doom and gloom into the dugout. Get rid of the primadonnas and sign some real men!

Dear Mr. John Henry: Please do Red Sox nation a huge favor and fire Mr. Francona, Mr. Epstein, the entire pitching staff including coaches and except for Mr. Beckett, rid yourselves of these over-paid and under-performing idiots. I, for one, am sick and tired of screaming at my TV set and getting my blood pressure up over these idiots. Don't you realize that your baseball team has evaporated any chance they had because of the lack of strong leadership. Tampa Bay has a payroll of 1/4 of what you have and have pretty much swept the Red Sox almost everytime. It's time to for a wake-up call. Show these non-performers the door and get fresh, proven new blood. In short, your team now su**s! Thank you.

I think it's ironic that his name is Lackey.

all moronic comments aside, Lackey is a lost cause, and the Red Sox have wasted too many resources on players like him, crawford and others to win in the foreseeable future. Watching Masterson on Cleveland this year was troubling, as well as Martinez and Beltre both outproducing C.Crawford many times over for les money. Their GM is a joke.

Lackey needs to "pitch," not throw. JL is not longer able to muscle-up and throw it by batters - he needs to pitch. Set up the breaking balls, change of speed, move the batters feet, move his hands, back him off the plate ... pitching. Lackey seems smug and defiant in his unwillingness to accept a new approach. Pitch, John, pitch.

They need to ship him back to anaheim and eat 50 million, maybe anaheim will take back 1 or 2 mil if were lucky. We also need to ship crawford to florida and eat about 100 million. Then sue Theo Epstein, fire his worthless rear-end and get a new GM. Then we need to resign papelbon and ellsbury, AND get a real left fielder and another starter which will push our salary cap OVER the yankees, thats the only solution where we win.

Asshole needs TJ surgery but that means he loses money. So he would rather be bad for his entire contract than get himself healthy and able to (eventually) pitch well.

Reply-to:Im speechless. How does this team just melt down like this. At this point I would rather they not make the playoffs. There are some stellar players doing great, but the pitching is sh****** the bed. Papelbon doesnt even have a chance to blow a save. Id bet my house the Mariners would take 6 out of 10 in Boston. Expect a Tampa sweep.

Expect a Tampa sweep. It sounds so crazy to say but I think it's going to happen. Some of these guys have their head so far up their a** that they can see out of their own mouth.

Blame goes to Theo, Lackey can't help the fact he has downs syndrome. We pissed away our chance to either equal or surpass the yankees, from 2005 on. His free agent signings and WASTE of resources make even brian cashman look apt and thrifty. Trading Manny away in 2008 was a hubris driven act of a fool (guy hit 400. for dodgers in 08). We might have won that year otherwise. As I said before Theo, Hitler was a far BETTER military commander than you are a GM.
