The gap between Pujols and Dunn isn't as large as some people think!? Yeah, um.....find another sport to showcase your ignorance.

Let's face it folks.  Adam Dunn is an albatross that makes any team that he is a part of worse.

Last season he took a first place Arizona team out of playoff contention and kept the Reds down for years.

If a team needs a clutch hit, don't ever count on Adam.

-----------

Not sure if you pay much attention, but during his time in Cinci, the Reds had an average (at best) lineup (except in 2005). They never really put up high OBPs, so it isn't his fault they didn't get on base that much for him. He also has 89 intentional walks with RISP.

Also, the Diamondbacks offense didn't get any worse after they traded for Dunn. Their pitching did pretty bad in August and September.

Reynolds, Young and Tracy hurt their lineup a lot more than Dunn did.

Don't get me wrong, Pujols is better than Dunn, but the gap between them isn't as big as most people think.

Dunn could possibly end up being one of the greatest hitters ever (or top 50).

If people seriously think Dunn sucks, then they don't know a thing about baseball.

Dunn is just like Pujols, but a relatively worse fielder and hits for a much lower BA (which is an overused and bad statistic; OBP is better). Dunn has actually been a somewhat better basestealer than Pujols.

Dunn also has a SecA (Secondary average) of .488 (better than Pujols, who has an SecA of .446 (15th all time)), which ranks 6th all time. Only Thome (.493), McGwire (.539), Ted Williams (.553), Ruth (.594), and Bonds (.606) are ahead of him.

Dunn: Career .381 OBP (very good considering his career BA is .247, which is a huge difference), 100 walks per season, 40 home runs, on pace for 500 . And yet, he probably won't be voted in because the HOF voters are stupid cunts who think wins, batting average and rings are the best ways to evaluate players.

I'm glad I don't have to watch this Orca flop around Left Field at Great American this year.

You need someone to catch a routine fly?  You need someone to run faster than a sumo wrestler chasing a plate of salad?  You need someone to hit better than .200 with RISP?  You need someone to get you a Sac Fly?  Get someone else.

You need someone to hit 500 foot solo homeruns when you are either up 3 or down 3 ?  You need someone to strike out in every crucial at bat?  You need someone to actually give the other team extra runs throughout a season because of how terrible their defense is?  Dunn is your man.

He's Rob Deer with better PR.

This had to be added:

Re: WBC 09 - It would have been nice if Adam Dunn had been used at designated hitter instead of in right field, where he did not even try to throw out two runners on sacrifice flies that were not terribly deep.

I thinkAdam Dunn is a great baseball player. But, I don't think the Red's are a good fit for him. He needs a team with more than 2 players who can hit. He would be much more useful on a better team.

Adm Dunn sucks ass, this guy hits homeruns that mean nothing for the team when they're down by 6 runs already or strikes out... not to mention, he's inept with the glove, so he's basically useless never bats more than .240 for a season

Dunn and Griffey have been the two main reasons the Reds have had losing teams for so many years. When your best players are lazy and selfish, your team loses. It's obvious and ashame for Reds fans. As soon as those two go, things will turn around -

Adam Dunn's next clutch hit will be his first.  He is the king of the towering solo homerun when the Reds are down 8-1 in the 9th inning.  Great.  Now it's 8-2.  Great for fantasy baseball owners, bad for the Reds.  I would trade Adam Dunn for a carton of cigarettes and a kazoo.  I don't even smoke and I'm not musically inclined.
