Here's how Brad's big brain works. Let's say the Phils are up by 4. Here's what Brad thinks. "I can let up 3 runs, I've got 3 bases to load and I've got 3 outs to get." So in Brad's brain he just has to get 3 out of 9 guys out!

I can't believe what I just saw... Brad Lidge went 1, 2, 3 in the bottom of the ninth!  Holy Sh!t!  It's a miracle!  What happened to the 95-96 mph fastball though?  Topped out a 91 mph tonight.  Oh well, nice save.  Go Phillies!

Andy Reid and Donovan McNab, now Chollie Manuel and Brad Lidge...what gives? These 2 managers backed themselves into a corner by continually defending players whose value to the team faded. Management needs to intervene and send Lidge back to AAA or out...but oops, management in this case in Ruben.

Perhaps we could just try the recently promoted kid from AAA.  His last name begins with an s, but it elludes me.  He was great in reading and is doing well in AAA.  I don't wan to hear anyone say "worley for closer."  Kids a damn starter and was given that 1 inning to get experience.

As for lidge, anybody think of some reasonable actions we can take against him.  I havn't gotten any use outta my tire iron lately...

I am so frustrated for the players who work their butt's off to have this happen. Please leave him in the bullpen for the rest of the year so we can win these games. I wish we could have kept Lee and traded Lidge putting Happ as a closer.

Here is a testament to how hard Lidge sucks: (read on, and you will see how I basically wagered $625 that Lidge would blow the save tonight lol) I handicap sports professionally, and 90% of my plays are straight bets (meaning single game wagers, not parlays--parlays are multiple game wagers).. I had one parlay this today; NYY to win, MN Twins -1.5 runs, and the Phils to beat the Nats.... the twins already covered early, Rivera came in to close for the yanks, and I turned off the yanks game b/c it was as good as done with Rivera.... immediately afterwards, Phils went up by one, and I was hoping Ol' Charlie was going with Romero to close it....but when I seen Brad Lidge, I was near certain that my $650 winning ticket would now lose.... lead off man was on first, bunt to get him to second, walked the next batter, and Zimmerman up to the plate... at this point I said " there is no way they can intentionally walk Zimmerman in this situation, so if they dont, and Charlie does not pull Lidge, I will sell you (my friend) this $650 ticket for $25 (mind you, I paid $75 for it, and with 2 more out before the Nats score it would be worth $650)"  I sold it to him, and saved $25 of my $75 loss.  Calculating (post-game) stats: Lidge is now at a 5.57 ERA, and has blown 29% of his save opportunities.......5.57!!!!!!!! for a CLOSER??!?!!!??!?!!! Anything over 3 is borderline unacceptable for a closer, and he is just about doubling that...... what sense does it make to spend $Millions$ for Oswalt ect to make a run at the post season and put the games worst active (Hoffman was already demoted, K. Wood has not been traded to close) Closer in Baseball???? lol.....

i cant wait to see the post game interview with Lidge, probably say he felt good and is getting close to being all the way back. Problem is, he doesnt realize he is all the way back already, to the career garbage pitcher that he is.

i have seen a 3 legged cat burying a terd on a frozen pond manage better than Manuel. I used to blame Lidge, just like i used to blame Mitch, but they dont put themselves in the game. Fregosi was a joke and Manuel is a beligerant old man who belongs in a retirement community instead of managing a professional baseball team. Its disgusting and i feel bad for the other 24 guys who bust their butts every night and watch it thrown away time and time again. Its better to pay him 12 mil and not have him cost you any games than to pay him 12 mil and let him kill your team. Last year we would have won 100 without him. This year, there will be no playoffs if he is allowed to blow another half dozen games in the final 2 months.

because he just keeps blowing saves. why haven't the phillies released him yet he's not been the same since 2008. give the job to Contreras, Romero, or Madson . I want him out of philly and to the orioles where he can lose games games for them. Ruben needs to go get somebody better than him stop thinking he will get better because he's not going to be. I don't want to be biting my nails every save opportunity. I'm still biting them in a 3 run save opportunity he's probably going to set a record for most blown saves in a season wait a second i think he already did. he sucks

Carlos Ruiz played the game of his life and Lidge can't even hit his glove for a strike.  Did you see that last pitch?  Right down the middle.  I can't take it anymore.

They run this moron Lidge out there because they are paying him $12 mil and can't bear to bench him. I wish they'd just bite the bullet and send him to AAA or something and find a real pitcher...Madison can get on the same bus...BYE BYE. this team has no chance in the post if they don't fix this. It's why they didn't win in 09...THE BULLPEN SUCKS!!!!

Why, why, why do they continue to let him blow saves? How many more years of this do I have to endure? I'm not kidding I'm going crazy over this. He had an AWESOME 2008-09, but something changed and he's not going to get it back. Cut him loose! Do it now!
