Carl Crawford played for TB for nine years. Small market. Disinterested fan base. He was not prepared for the intensity of Boston media and fans. It really threw him. One of the other people posting said 'deer in the headlights' and I agree. Every time there was a shot of him in the dugout during a game, you could tell he was just not happy.

He's not alone. A lot of Red Sox players get thrown by Boston media. The guys who come up through the system are a little more aware but the guys who get traded in at the Major League level get a shock and there are lots of players who refuse to play in Boston b/c of this.

He's a four time MVP. Then, of course, we have John Henry, the genius, blabbing on EEI that he was against Crawford's signing. The team is paying him $142 million / 7 years. Dude, you sign the checks, you should have spoken up b/f we got the guy, not after. What sense does that make? The owner saying he didn't want a particular player.

Carl Crawford is not stuck up. Valentine is going to meet him at his home in Texas after the holidays. That's pretty standard ... after all, he went to the DR to see Ortiz.

New manager. He had a bad season. The Sept collapse. The protocol would be to talk to the guy's agent and simply send his regards. If you look at Bobby V's remarks, you'll see that he has a lot of respect for Carl and he should.

And btw, ordinarily I'd say 'we're paying you tons of money, buck up' but there are so many extenuating circumstances regarding Carl and Boston. I hope he has a great year.

Is this guy so fragile and so special that the new manager needs to speak to him through his agent. He will never Make it to the elite level that his contract suggests he's at. Cut bait now! Blah blah blah Carl is not feeling comfortable. Are you kidding me!

I agree with the guy who said Crawford simply looks "worried" all the time. The deer in the headlights look. Sometimes he also looks a little puffy around the eyes, like maybe his nights aren't well spent.

Theo may be leaving anyway. To the Cubs or Angels. One thing about Carl Crawford - he was interviewed in front of his locker in the clubhouse yesterday and said everyone / the team was to blame. Adrian Gonzelez also there and he said the whole mess was "God's will." If Carl can find the skills he used to have, then I'm fine with that. It seems like the guy we got and the guy we thought we'd get are two different people. I'd rather have Tito than Theo any day. And John Henry has yet to make a public statement. He's made a couple of lame tweets but that's it. No wonder Tito blasted out of Boston. It was his decision to get out because the front office idiots did not do much to support him. Hey Theo, don't let the door hit you in the rear end on your way out.

Theo Epstein would like you to believe that it is Terry Francona's fault that John Lackey and Carl Crawford suck. I think it is time to open a "Theo Epstein Sucks" thread. Who's with me?

Fitting way to end a sh-tty season: a dropped ball by Carl Crawford in LF.  Symbol of 2011 failure.

I'm not saying the Manny of today should be playing not at all, just that you don't (unless you are an imbecile like our GM) sign a guy like Crawford with a low on base Percentage and pay him 20 million a year to replace Manny. I meant we should look back on Manny as a great player who was WORTH the money. An we should have ridden him out in 2008 instead of trading for jason gay. Like he really wudve refused to play an then no-one would have signed him in 09'

Carl looks like he's already quit on this year. I don't know if there is a worse thing you can say about a professional athlete - Carl quit.

Carl, you just keep getting worse. 18 stolen bases? 18! You are horrible. 0-for-5 in the third last game of the year, pathetic. This guy just looks worried, always. No heart and no "compete," what a waste of money. This fool makes far, far too much money. Espstein ain't no Boy Wonder, he's a fool.
