last 11 games their starters have given up a combined 22ER...that's including the Jaime Garcia 3er in 1/3 inning debacle. 5-6 in those 11 games. Edwards and the bullpen blow dick.

After tonight's wild pitch that let what ended up being the winning run score this guy should never be used in a high stress situation again this season. Dude's been totally unreliable lately. Don't know what happened..He used to be lights out. Cubs bullpen as a whole will probably cost them the division this year.

Carl Edwards Jr. has off-the-chart talent but doesn't have it where it counts, ESPECIALLY when under pressure. Yesterday was another example. His yelling at the umpire for not calling borderline, out-of-the-zone pitches strikes perfectly illustrated this. Losing the lead was not the umpire's fault, it was CEJ's. He should apologize to the umpire today for yelling at and SCAPEGOATING him. Furthermore, if the Cubs make the playoffs this year, I can safely state with at least 99.9999999% confidence CEJ will blow games and may even blow the season for them. I wished the Cubs would have gotten rid of him after last year’s playoff performance. May God help us if that man pitches for the Cubs again this October.

Reply-to:Edwards should be good for today. He looked like shit yesterday which means hell look good today. Carl is streaky like that. Each good outing is proceded by a bad outing...that pattern does not change with Edwards. Hell never look good or bad in consecutive outings.
Ummm...if that trend existed it was blasted to smithereens last night. He did indeed look bad in consecutive outings. In fact...he was even WORSE last night. He was bailed out on Tuesday with the 9th inning comeback and he decided to one-up himself with 3 runs last night. He even walked in a run to add even more insult.  Waaay too streaky. Can't trust him. These games are important in a very tight division. I don't care if it's "early". It's not like he's gonna get better and be lights out when it really matters. Last years playoffs come to mind. He's got talent of course or he wouldn't be in the big leagues. But he is NOT reliable. If not for the big comeback the previous night it would have been...and SHOULD have been two straight major chokes. He sucks. Period.

How the hell do you give up a walk to the opposing pitcher? Decades ago, managers used to impose a fine on their pitcher whenever that or some other crap happened. In baseball, that's a cardinal sin. Pitchers DON'T issue walks to the opposing pitcher!!!

Sh*t Carl....get it together...

Edwards is just terrible. Walks Darvish on 4 pitchs to walk in a run at a crucial moment in the game. The guy cant focus and Madman thinks he is our future closer.

That was the ugliest playoff series I've ever seen. I don't see the Cubs repeating...not with the way micromanaging Joe manages. In five games he's exposed every weakness the Cubs have. He's decimated his shitty bullpen. His pitching changes seem like they're designed to demoralise his pitcher and shatter any confidence they may have or might be developing. I look forward to the day SABR Joe is fired. SABR has its place...but it's not the end all, be all of baseball. Players do get hot, get on streaks, play in the zone, have career years, or a string of career years...SABR doesn't account for that...SABR doesn't predict Brady Anderson's 50+ HR season or Steve Carlton's 27-10 season for a team losses 100+ games.

CJ Edwards is NOT a clutch pitcher.  He tried to lose us the WS.  He cant throw strikes. Only time he gets outs is when people swing at the crap he throws.

I'm saving myself the frustration and not watching game 5. The Cubs have all but handed this series to Wash.
