HAIL BIRD!

Am I still alone on Bird Island?? Birdriguez smoked that ball off of Miller. He drops Bird poop on both lefties and righties. Your silence will confirm to me that I am right.

He faced a lefty specialist and struck out with bases loaded. Berrios struck out Bird with a 3-2 changeup, which was his best pitch of the night. In 3 of the 4 ABs Bird worked the count from 0-2 to 3-2. He looked great at the plate.

Last night was a perfect example of what I'm talking about, Bird got a clutch base hit early in the game, and then the subsequent at bats were limp. he doesn't treat every at bat with intensity!

Birdriguez is a force. Never doubted him for a minute.

If Bird plays a complete season, his final numbers who read 35 Home Runs BA - .265 and 105 R.B.I.s. Bird sometimes gets complacent at the plate, particularly after he hits a home run. He tells himself I've done my good deed and subsequently he doesn't lock in like he should in his next at bat!

Who is Hosmer?.......I think Judge, Sanchez and Bird will be with the Yankees for years to come!
Anonymous (Veteran) wrote on Sat, 23 Sep 2017 14:23:39 GMT reply
Hosmer will probably be a Yankee next season. I feel Bird has more upside offensively, but his injury history has really hurt his status. Girardi wants stability at the position, which should be more productive offensively. Hosmer has seven years of stable consistent production, which is what the Yankees want. I think they will be selling low on Bird, but I feel Bird will be dealt in a package for an ace level starter like a Duffy from KC. It wouldn't be a surprise to see Hosmer and Bird switch uniforms next season.

On francesca today girardi didnt sound too enthusiastic about Bird and left the door open to starting headley during the playoffs. Bird had 3 hits in his last game including 2 doubles and is on the bench against the soft throwing estrada.

You know Michael Kay has a call in radio show, with this unbelievably obnoxious fat, graying guy who espouses his opinions like they're proven science. It's on this show, I see what you're talking about in regards to Kay's arrogance. He has his own show, he's all over the YES Network, and he always has the final word on all things YANKEES. I get a smitten of this arrogance on the broadcast, but nothing like that insufferable Radio I said his fatso Grizzly Adams partner is even worse.....he's fast approaching FRANCESCA monster ego proportions!
Anonymous (Rookie) wrote on Thu, 21 Sep 2017 10:12:14 GMT reply
Are you absolutely sure Kay hates Bird? As you know, on a broadcast, the announcer doesn't say...."GOD, I HATES THIS GUY".....I know, I know, there are subtle little ways the broadcaster would convey his dislike for someone. I could never be an announcer, when a bum comes to the plate and hits into a rally killing double play or strikes out when you need him to put bat to the ball and he strikes out, I would lose it on the air and probably get my license (broadcasting) pulled!

who the better player was but the YES team couldn't. I know he's only batting .233 but I like Holiday, he's unbelievably CLUTCH!

I think you might be right.....I went jogging but streamed the game on my's funny I've always liked Ellsbury, never gave up on him......I hate Hicks and the Yankees broadcast especially Kay always promoted him over Ellsbury, you could see overtly who the player was but the YES couldn't!

Bird went 3 for 4 today. His two walks yesterday basically won the game and knocked the pitcher out of the game. Time tells the truth and we will see who is correct. Mike Kay sucks and Birdriguez nailed Marakatits and didnt call her back. Its funny how Kay hates Bird and Sterling loves Bird. I watch the YES broadcast and listen to the game on WFAN at the same time.

But he doesn't hit.......not at all.........his line his habitually one for four and then followed by an 0 for 3. Is there another Bird you're talking about..........if Kay is critical of Bird it must be subtle, or I should listen more intently. I thought Bird's line would be more impressive in the Baltimore series, given he hit two home runs but it was like 2 for 11. Now, in the Twins series it is 1 for 7. So what's Girardi suppose to do? Play him consistently so he can go 2 for 20? As you know first base defensively is a joke. Stick a glove on the beer vendor and he can get through an entire game without making an error. I'm with you, if Kay said he's sub-par defensively that was an unnecessary comment!

Mike Kay is full of shit. Yes that is true, but for some reason he does not like Bird and has been calling to have sent to the minors since the Rays series at the beginning of the season. He also says Bird is not a good defensive first baseman and looks for every reason to diminish him. Considering Kay is a Yankees insider and is soft on most of the players I find it strange how much he doesn't like Bird.

If Bird was a 6' 4" 240 pound Cuban defector with tattoos on his face rather than a corn ball white dude you would swinging from his nut sack, which is why I call him Birdriguez.
Anonymous (Veteran) wrote on Wed, 20 Sep 2017 12:06:46 GMT reply
Because Bird was healthy in spring training. He got injured and tried to play through it. do you understand that if you are injured your arms and legs and things do not work properly and you are in pain and it negatively affects your play. all this guy does is hit and he has not played everyday since coming off the DL. since the start of the twins series it looks like he is going to be the everyday first baseman.
Anonymous (Sophomore) wrote on Wed, 20 Sep 2017 11:32:27 GMT reply
I'm missing the "Birdriguez" moniker? Is it in reference to Alex Rodriguez? How come you didn't have medical concerns with Bird in spring Training when he was tearing up the league? Is that selective memory?

I also don't see make that hear, Michael Kay's blistering attack on Bird. I think Michael Kay is way too soft and Pollyanna on Yankees players. I don't even that's the basic nature of most broadcasters on the home team or if it's in Kay's DNA. There's guys on the Yankees that simply put, cannot play a lick and Kay talks them up because their young. Like that guy, I've blocked his name, he hits from the left side and he's young and fast.......and oh yeah he stinks. Kay keeps talking about his potential. And then there's this bum called Hicks......who got off to a meteoric start (is a career .230 hitter) and Kay is always droning on about when he gets back off the disabled list the Yankees will be that much better. No they won't, HICKS SUCKS. I bet the Yanks get rid of him next year!

I believe Bird is capable of hitting about .260 with 500 ABs and that's about it. If you think he has Bryce Harper potential then you're deluding yourself. He's average and with the New York press, every young player's potential gets overblown. I see an occasional home run and the next at bat a strike-out, a lazy fly ball to right center, another strike-out and then line is 1 for 4 and then 0 for 3 the next day with a walk. There is no superstar there, nothing even close to charismatic, just a mundane, day to day, ham and egg guy. As a Yankee fan, I want to be wrong, I want them all to be great!

hey 1:54 wow i can't believe the yankees have that new first baseman Geronimo Birdriguez. What a hitter! That catch the yankees have Gary Sanders looks like such a dork.

Birdriguez hits a HR against a lefty..again. I am surprised Girardi didn't use Torreyes to hit for Bird and then tell the media after the game that Bird is an everyday player. Birdriguez is a mysterious Cuban defector and it is rumored that he has skills, but all he needs is 500 ABs to prove himself.
Anonymous (Rookie) wrote on Fri, 15 Sep 2017 20:14:38 GMT reply
I am defending Bird because mike kay has taken it upon himself to run bird out of town. He is batting 144 because he tried to play hurt, which required surgical intervention. If girardi knew what he was going to get from everybody else i highly doubt they would have encouraged bird to play through injury. Also, why did it take the medical staff so long to ID and correct that ankle issue. Big fail on their part. Back spasms happen to everyone its just a conditioning issue from taking too many swings. I think his stats since coming off the dl are more accurate but he needs ABs to get on track. All of these hitters are streaky. Why does Bird sit the next game if he strikes out once? Birdriguez has a big future

I have a better question for you.....obviously the ability to criticize, exists in've been critical of Judge, I believe Headely you have that capacity.......what stops you from criticizing Bird?......he's batting .144, my god he's handing you the cudgel...I am curious, why the restraint?
