Gilbert melendez sucks! I will tell you why! What's his fighting style? Wrestling? I've seen his wrestling not that good. Who did he beat? I watched some highlight videos simply nobody. So He is the strikeforce champion now I'm sure it will change. Aoki is overated and Gilbert's fighting style sucks. The guy that posted all those names is right. All those in the UFC would destroy the lil Nino to an even smaller 'lil Nino'.

I wouldn’t say he sucks but Melendez is much overrated and over-hyped. He got the Strikeforce belt by a split-decision "win" over former champ Clay Guida. If he fought Guida today, he would likely lose. A few others who would likely best him include: Edgar, Maynard, Henderson, Pettis, Florian, Guillard, Penn (B.J. when at LW), Sanchez (when at LW), Nate Diaz (when at LW though this wouldn't happen as they're friends), Jim Miller, Jose Aldo (not even a LW {yet}), Tyson Griffin, Eddie Alvarez and maybe even Brookins and probably a few others I’ve omitted. Those who rank him #3 in the world have been sipping the Kool-Aid Gilbert has concocted by dodging virtually all top level competition since he got the belt. Yes, he beat Aoki but so far, most of the highly touted fighters from Japan (e.g. Gomi) have performed far below expectations and their rankings (Okami , e.g., is an exception).

gilbert sucks because he tries to claim he's number 1 by beating a number 2 guy.in all honesty shinya aoki sucks and is over hyped and overrated

Gilbert Melendez doesn't suck at all. He's a Shooto World Champion, Top 5 in his Weight Class, and competes in Grapplers Quest Vegas every year. He's not afraid to jump in there against ANYONE, ANY TIME. Just needs to get picked up by WEC or UFC
