lol it's impossible to have spaces or paragraphs...bah. Anyway Jake Shields is garbage, he is horrible but leans on several crutches in order to compete. It's such a cop out when Clay Guida said, "I'm done going in there and playing rock em sock em robots like how I used to fight" All you need to do is try to finish the fight. I honestly think if you become known as a point fighter and you don't ever try to finish fighters, you should be cut. Technically they do this now in the UFC but I think they should be a lot more aggressive with it. I also understand that fighters want long careers and don't want to take much punishment. But fighters have to look at it from a fans perspective too. Like it or not we pay for the UFC...we are an important part. If we don't like the product it won't sell anymore. That's just the fact of entertainment sports man...it has to be entertaining. Point fighting and laying and praying is not entertaining. Fighters get so offended when fans boo...but tough **** man. I mean...like I said before what would people say if 2 tennis players were playing and one of the guys drop shotted every time and on the return shot swung as hard as they could trying to beam their opponent? Throughout a whole match I bet a pro tennis player could hit their opponent enough times like that to make them quit...technically it's totally legal...but no one is going to want to watch that are they? The sad thing with fighting is, the fights are so short so it's hard to administer punishments. The reason weird stuff never happens in sports is because they last hours and hours and their would def be huge punishments. If these type of things happen in a main event Dana White will go nuts and it makes the news like it did with Guida. That only has happened a few times though....and even then there are tons of other fights on that card so it's not the end of the world.
Bleh this probably makes no sense. All I can say is, it's obvious when a fighter is point fighting or laying and praying and when this happens they should be punished. It's hard to just type about this and explain things. It is a lot easier when someone idiot tries to rationalize point fighting/laying and praying with specific points, then I can refute them. Just talking generally about this stuff is hard though.
I mean their is just certain stuff that doesn't fly. Techincally in sports you could foul every play, play keep away non stop in hockey, pass the soccer ball back and forth until 20 seconds are left and then go for a goal, I mean you get the point obviously? If you understand this I don't see why you think it's ok for Jake Shields to lay and pray or just go for failed take downs all day and then just circle his opponent non stop and avoid getting hit. Like Dana said if one fighter runs all day you can't have a fight. You can't run non stop and then hit your opponent a few times and claim victory...I mean you can...Greg Jackson trains his fighters to do just that. But like I said it completely deviates from the spirit of fighting. Just like fouling every play like they did with HACK A SHACK, AND HACK A DWIGHT. They only would do it sparingly because it slowed the game down and it was a ***** move. It's obvious everyone out of the Greg Jackson camp just goes for a decision win...Yes I know Jon Jones gets finishes but it's only because of his reach, lets get real here...he wears people down and then pounces. He never pounces in the first 2 rounds though it always takes a while...because he takes as little risk as possible. Even that is ok though I don't have a problem with it because he at least finishes the fight. The biggest problem is, is that when someone fights Jake Shields they will play right into his fighting style....they do this though because if they didn't their could not be a fight and it would be a even bigger spectacle. You never see 2 fighters fight each other that are both runners, Dana probably knows those fights would suck so he won't make them. But you always end up seeing the non ****** guy just say **** it and end up chasing the other fighter....the Greg Jackson fighters count on this knowing the other fighter will man up allowing them to run all over the place.
The reason lay and pray is so stupid is because the fighters could literally sit in that position for 10 hours straight and the guy on top would do no damage. It's mostly all the newer fans that don't see a problem with this kind of fighting. BTW I'm not against counter punching at all. There's a difference between that though and running. it's hard to get into all the little nuances of counter punching but all I care about is I can tell when it's legit counter punching and when it's just running and point fighting.
Basically for some reason there are a lot of people on this earth that don't understand the "cheese factor" These are the type of people that will argue, as long as it's in the rules I can do it. It reminds me of pvp games I play on the computer. My opponent will run away whenever I'm doing damage and heal...To make a long story short it's pretty much impossible for someone to die this game if a player pvp's like this. Understandably the person usually sucks at the game and has to pvp like this or they will die. Maybe they should die and learn from it maybe and as a result get better? In online games it's always the people that have no skill that you'll always hear saying "IT'S IN THE RULES I CAN DO IT BLAHBLAHBLAH" These are the same people that will support a Jake Shields type fighter. They convince themselves it's ok because they have less skill than most people. If you have less skill get better or gtfo mannnnn. In the game I play no one will want to play with pvpers like this...just like in real life no one wants to watch fighters like Jake Shields...it's a giant waste of time.
So ya tons of people just don't understand (I can't cuss, so the word for female dog) female dogging out. Most people don't understand this. I think they do understand though, but the only way for them to save face is to pretend that it's ok.
I think that holds true in a lot of facets of life. Religion comes to mind...they believe in it because they are afraid to die...they force themselves to believe in it....just like they hate science...they believe in the bible and have to find holes in any scientific theory assuming it doesn't go along with their religion.
It's sad man. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. Another example comes to mind...like people that camp in a video game with a sniper rifle....yes you can play the game that way and rack up kills....but should you? Do you not see anything wrong with this? Sadly there's just always going to be a lot of idiots in the world...or just ignorant people. It's really sad though the people with closed minds....because think back in your own life...how many times have you re-thought an idea and came to a different conclusion? It's kind of the same thing as hating a certain movie or television series...then you re-watch it years down the road and you fall in love with it. Had you talked about, said tv show/movie to someone, you would have said it sucked yada yada..when in reality it was your favorite show ever.
It's just so pointless explaining to people that lay and pray and point fighting is lame. I think if you believe this stuff is ok in the first place, you are just not worth my breath or my time.
man I had a huge comment but you can't cuss omggggg. Anyway imagine a basketball team that fouled every possession because they have good shooters? That would be totally lame. Imagine a hockey team that just played keep away till the last 10 seconds of the game and then finally went for a goal..if they make it they win, if they don't it's a tie. Imagine they need a tie to get into the playoffs so they stuff their goal with all 4 players including the goalie so the puck can't go in...they can't score but they just need a tie. Of course this is extreme but this is the stuff in sports people could do that are cheesy and not entertaining. It's the equivalent of what Jake Shields does by just going for takedowns non stop on a stand up fighter...imagine a fighter just goes for takedowns all 15 minutes...literally every 10 seconds...and the other fighter is a standup fighter what can that fighter do besides just dodge? Then the guy lands a takedown last minute of the fight....the judges would give the guy with the takedown a win....again I'm exaggerating but not even by that much. If you claim Jake Shields's style is okay your saying what I said is ok too. It completely deviates from the spirit of the game or in this case fighting. if Jake shields's style of fighting is ok what if EVERY FIGHTER FOUGHT LIKE JAKE SHIELDS? WOULD ANYONE WATCH THE UFC? That point alone should put JAke Shield lovers in their place.
looked like a joke in there with gsp why would u stand there with someone that has good stand up when u know ur garbage stand up doesnt even match gsp u sould off did wat u do best and tryed stealing the rounds by leg humping gsp all 5 rounds cuz thats wat ur good at stick to wat ur good witch is ground game or sould i say leg humpn
