Man, Hughes made Royce look like one of those grappling dummies. Royce had absolutely no chance in that fight. Sure, the fans loved seeing another totally overrated Gracie get stomped into oblivion, but that fight was ridiculous.

We understand that the first UFC's were Gracie controlled. They were bush league. After that there were some great moments.

Watching Sakuraba make Royce look like a complete horse's ass with all the Gracie politics and posturing was great.

Watching Royce get pummeled after prancing around in his blue capri pants with his prissy kicks against Matt Hughes, was great too.

If you can't appreciate what Royce had accomplish in the beginning you don't understand the sport. Try fighting just one guy a night is hard enough, let alone 3! first of all jiu jitsu is japanese .second gracies did improvize it.is jiu jitsu the best martial arts no!bruce lee said a combination of all was the best the guy now was a genius.second helio got his arm broken by kimura so judo kicked ass.as we have seen a bjj fighter can get badly beaten if he is not well trained in other forms like taekowndo muay tai karate etc kempo shotokan gracies can't compete anylonger that is why they hide in their gyms

the gracies are a bunch of arrogant self serving jerks I ever seen in martial arts I remember ufc 1in the middle of the tournament the gracies come out to give helio a plack of accomplishments and how he was such a great teacher of bjj first of all the gracies were running the show so right there that shows how self serving they are it's like what you can't let your art speak for it self and be awarded a plack by an orginization that recognizes martial artist for there contributions and acomplishments no they give him a plack oh and the best part is when he tripped into the octagon to get it I laughed my ass off and also I never liked royce since he started talking how my art is the best and nobody can beat bjj and how we are going to prove all the other styles are ineffective and I think it's interesting on those old challenge videos by the gracies that the gracies used all there tactics to beat the other fighter but why didn't like the kenpo guy gouge eyes kick knees chop wind pipes then it would have been fair the gracies wanted to show there art how it was intended to be used let the other fighter do the same if it was really no holds barred they should have treated it as such but I am glad to see the gracies assed out of mma and other fighters of top caliber taking the field

Any respect the gracies have earned for what they have done for the sport is far out weighed by the tatics they use to hide there losses storm dojos with video cameras and only show the favorable videos. If you look at there records none of them are impressive. They all fight nobodies except the couple of guys royce fought. They do seem to understand the art of pr.

The Gracie's were too ugly and awkward to make movies so they staged UFC's instead. Now when it comes to championship caliber MMA fights, not bush league Gracie run UFC's, the Gracie's look about as competent,(more like incompetent) as Don the Dragon or Jean Claude Van Damm.

By the way, wasn't it great to see Renzo get destroyed by Hughes in the 3rd round. It wasn't as good as the time Royce got destroyed by Hughes, but still. At least Renzo didn't spit on anyone.

First of all, every single book written by the Gracie's or about them have correctly put the lineage of their system. From Kano to Maeda to Carlos and Helio. Not one Gracie said they invented the art, but it was Helio that adapted the techniques for the small man to beat the large man.

It was also the Gracie family (namely Rorion I believe) that pioneered NHB/MMA (Helio brought BJJ to the U.S)to the United States.

If it weren't for the Gracies or Royce putting on a clinic in the early UFCs, we wouldn't have the skill level of BJJ in America, and in turn, possibly the evolution of MMA.

Show some respect in that regard, at least. Whether you agree or disagree with someone allegedly using performance enhancing drugs.
