Here is a lesson about traditional karate and it's methods: karate is based on the white crane method of gong Fu. The tactics are primarily based on being elusive and attacking only when your opponent attacks. This is called sen no sen, attacking the attack. Using your opponent negitve actoin against themselves. This is how a smaller person can defend against a larger person. It is about strategy and intellect, not force and aggression. Lyotos stye however is modified a bit for the mma, true karate in a real life situation would be far more deadly. I admire lyoto for using braines over bronze and demonsrating a real martial art to what people call a martial art event. However, it is understood that you could never have a true martial event because that is war itself. People would die. |

Lyoto is good at staying away from the other fighter, this is called running, we don't know if he is good yet because nobody has tapped him on the chin yet, we have only seen him hit and run, this next fight with shogun I think he will be tested. Not a big fan of either fighter but I like to see a good fight not a track meet. |

Machida is one of the best fighters to step in the cage. He has the perfect style..inflict damage without taking damage. He has never lost a single round. Anyone who thinks he is boring simply has no understanding of MMA. It's an honor to watch his technique. He's a master at what he does. If you wanna see people stand toe to toe the entire round, go watch boxing. MMA is much more than that, and the REAL fans know it. |

If he doesn't run, why is he always an octagon length away from his opponent. How can you try to tell us what we find boring? That doesn't make any sense, I find Lyoto boring, you can't tell me I don't or that I'm wrong for believing that. LYOTO MACHIDA ... is ... BORING - AS - PHUCK!!! Only in the last 2 fights has the guy done something exciting ... on the offensive side. He actually showed some aggression offensively without backpedalling all the mother PHUCKING time. PHUCKING hate watching that shit. His style before that was just sit and mother PHUCKING wait. Call his style the "HOKIE-POKIE" ... put your left foot, take your left foot out. The guy backpedals and waits ... waits ... waits ... moves in ... backpedals .... waits ... waits ... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. I don't doubt his martial arts pedigree or skill set. His record is evidence enough of his talent. But for anyone to PAY THEIR GOD-DAMN HARD EARNED $$$$$ TO WATCH HIS FIGHT ... I want some MOTHER PHUCKING ACTION!!! If he stays on this course (of the last 2 fights) and evolves his offensive style, I'll give him props and consider paying to watch one of his fights. Speaking of running, it seems as though everyone in the 205 division has been doing that since Lyoto took the crown. I'm a big fan of Quinton Jackson, but this is the second time in a row that he's passed on a title shot. That's not number one contender behavior. The UFC couldn't even find a top 10 contender to face Lyoto, so they picked Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. The Dragon will destroy him, as he will destroy all challengers. |

Machida is incredible- i cant see any flaw in his technique. THe only person who may stand a chance against his is Anderson Silva if they were ever to be in the same division. |

there is nothing lucky about Machida. he is a great fighter with unique style. But karate is not back, it is just one of Machida's tool along with BJJ, wrestling and Muai Thai. Katate alone would get him destroyed in Octagon. I also wonder how can Machida hold punch when one eventually takes place... |
