Yes, he did do well in the race this past weekend, but will he continue to do well?? He had Irish luck this weekend with Kasey crashing out lots of great drivers early on and that moved BV up from 25 starting spot and he didn't pit early like the others did. For his sake, I hope he does well in all 5 races because finding a full time ride in good equipment is going to be tough.

It doesn't mean she was there the weekend of the race. She could of been there earlier in March. I did see a brunette not far from BV when Bob was interviewing him. She was wearing a beige or cream colored top and pants, holding a bag or purse. Not sure if she was waiting on him or if she was waiting on someone else. It could of been Don's wife but not sure. We don't even know if he is still dating her or even if he ever was dating her. They may just be friends and he invited her to a few functions.

He held out for a six race deal over getting back into the 83 or 93??? Sorry I still think common sense would have been when he saw a top team ride wasn't coming his way even in NW he would have taken even a newer team to remain relevant. And to the poster who posted about the new young guys you are right they are with good teams. I don't think his demo derby driving display at the end of last season hasn't helped either.

Anonymous (Rookie) wrote on Fri, 24 Feb 2012 23:10:34 GMT

Reply-to:Younger/ less experienced drivers are getting rides simply because they will take ANY ride to try and prove themselves.  My guess is Brian doesnt want to waste his time with a team that wont be a long term commitment.  Yes, time away from a ride is not ideal,  but most of the teams taking on new drivers seem like flash-in-the-pan teams.  I would be surprised if any of them were still around the next few years.  With that said, I hope he finds something hes confident with soon.

Cole is with JR Motorsports which is a good team, Ricky is with Roush and the others with Childress. The 83 and 93 are with a new team and I actually think over time they will get better. Now, they may not be getting paid as much as BV would want to be paid and that could be  why he turned them down. If he had been driving like Kasey last year then I could see him holding out a little bit, but he didn't do that great so I really think it is more ego. We will see what happens, but I think he made a mistake. JMO

Reply-to:It doesnt really matter how good a driver he is if he isnt offered a job or thinks hes too good to turn down the ones he is offered the bottom line is he wont be racing this year. At this point one would think if he really wanted to drive he would take anything he could get. A year totally out of the sport and hell be irrelevant and never get a ride again let alone a good one. Theres too many guys out there fighting for them.

exactly, with the Dillon brothers, Stenhouse, Bayne, the younger Truex, Cole Whitt and some of these up and coming guys who have proven themselves with good results on the track, it is very very tough. I totally agree with BV being out a year he will be in trouble getting something.

Anonymous (Veteran) wrote on Fri, 24 Feb 2012 19:50:19 GMT

Reply-to:No that RB team is a low tier team,Brian is so much better as a driver

That is the point. Why is he holding out for a higher tier team when he couldn't even break the top 20 last year. I just don't understand it. He really made a huge mistake and will end up only if he is lucky with sponsorship to get a few rides this year in the 33. I don't think he can even compete for a championship if he doesn't run the full schedule. It will be hard for him to find something for 2013 unless he buys his own team.

I know he mentioned in his FB video he was looking for a solid ride, but the 83 and 93 are the former RB cars so it still doesn't make sense to me that he would turn down the opportunity for a fulltime ride with them. It is not like he was riding in the top 10 all last year or anything! I can totally understand trying to find sponsorship for the Nationwide 33 because that has always been a great car in Nationwide, but I think he lost out of driving in Sprint Cup by not going with the former RB car deal.

Yes, the former RB team is having Landon Casill and one other driver, but it was mentioned on Race Hub that BV turned them down. One excuse was not enough time to prepare and another was he was getting paid enough for that ride. Not sure why he would turn that offer down. So far, no one has been named for that second car. Could be he was in talks with them and that is why he mentioned "hectic" weeks in his tweet. Maybe he finally lowered his price!!

I was thinking no one was asking him to ride with them and then on Race Hub they  mentioned he turned them down. I was just shocked that he would do that in todays markets. Rookie drivers are getting rides and he isn't. Just crazy. It must be his ego. He gets money from his investment stuff so it is just crazy to turn down a full time ride that is guaranteed racing position for the first five races. You are right, that is puzzling!

Reply-to:I think he thinks hes worth more than he really is in todays current market.

I guess so, but when there aren't any Sprint rides available and probably just a few Nationwide rides then I would think just getting a ride would be the first thing. I would of thought just doing a one year contract and then maybe if he actually does well this year he could ask for more next year and get a multi-year contract. Just a thought since he came in so far down in points last year.

They werent sure if they didnt offer enough money or if it was other reasons. I cant believe he would turn down a ride when there arent any rides available. They are looking at Landon Castill in one car and talking to other drivers about the second car. They say BV might be in a couple of Nationwide races next year...can I just say he is crazy...it makes it sound like he doesnt really want to race fulltime.
