Mike was my idol when I was a little kid. He was number 17 at SC and when I got to high school I wanted to wear that number. unfortunately I was a lineman so I took 71 instead. Years later my wife bought me an SC helmet and tracked down his phone number, called him and got the helmet autographed. I spoke to him on the phone and then later that year had the priviledge of meeting him at the USC-Virginia Tech game. Super nice man, very humble, accomadating and is retired and living in rural Virginia right now. One of his sons, also named Mike, is the absolute spitting image of his father.
Nothing but good things to say about him
