Stafford needs to sit the bench while he's healthy so he knows he's not playing because he's not good enough, not cause he's hurt.

Looks like Peppers ended his career already, thanks to Jeff Backus being Jeff Backus. The Lions took a potential pro bowler and turned him into the next big Lions bust. That's right, he is a busted-up bust, and it is all the Lions management's fault. They drafted Pussigrew (injured reserve) with the 20th pick, while Oher was still on the board, and Jahvid Bust (any QB or running back will be out of the league in 3 years with that O-line) with the 30th pick when Roger Saffeld was still on the board.

I would like to see half the quarterbacks in this league come in one play after separating their shoulder, and throw a game winning touchdown pass. You can't teach that kind of commitment and moxie.

In time, Matthew Stafford will prove himself to be a great quarterback. He has all the individual tools as well as intangibles to succeed. However, the fact that he was handed the reigns of a team at the lowest point imaginable says a lot about his ability to already instill a sense of hope in once forgotten franchise. The interceptions have to come down, but they will just watch. Six of his interceptions last year came in the games he played in after he got hurt; so take those away and you have some really pretty good stats for a rookie on one of the worst. He has the weapons now to begin a breakthrough year. At least he will be better than Jay Cutler.

I really don't understand how anyone can say this kid sucks. Sure he made some typical rookie mistakes which explains his 20 interceptions. But he also managed to throw 13 touchdowns in ten starts, including 5 in one game setting an NFL record for a rookie qb in a comeback win over the browns last year. He has shown more leadership, toughness, and potential than matt leinart, jamarcus russell, brady quinn, tavaris jackson, or any of the other quarterbacks that were drafted high in the past 4 years. He also has one of the top 5 receivers in the NFL on his team, and with his arm, he can throw for over 3500 yards and 25 plus touchdowns next year if he stays healthy. I really don't think that this kid's ability is up to any serious kind of debate.

Actually in Detroit 2 wins is improvement you ignorant docuhebag. They were 0-16 the year before. Stafford started in 10 games and won two of them. Including the game against the Browns where he threw 5 touchdowns setting a record for an NFL rookie qb. He is a good leader, and is respected and trusted by his players. Look at most great quarterbacks like Aikman, Bradshaw, Favre, Young they all had below average rookie years. Rome wasn't built in a day. This year the Lions have some serious weapons on offense. Calvin Johnson (future hall of famer) Pettigrew, Javid Best, Kevin Smith. I guarantee they will go at least 6-10. In most cities that record sucks, but in Detroit it is a vast improvement.
