Scott Shanle Sucks Forum

I've been waiting for an opportunity to talk about Shanle.

From a completely unbiased view point, I would have to say that Scott Shanle is possibly the worst starting lineback in the entire league.

As far as stats are concerned, Shanle looks decent. He is generally healthy and he usually records a number of tackles over the course of the year. However, I would caution people who make judgments off of these stats alone.

Why Shanle is terrible

1) the man cannot shed blocks. I say this after exmaining game footage. The proof is there and it really is not up for argument. He can't do it.

2) He's slow. Compared to most outside linebacks, Shanle does not have the physical abilities necessary for reliable pass protection.

3) He's generally in the wrong place. This one is more subjective than the last, but I challenge you to watch the next Saints game and focus on Shanle. He is ineffectual.

4) With his years as a Saint he has under 3 interceptions. Also, if you look at his interceptions, they are more luck than skill. On one of them it looks as though Shanle was walking off the field. He's guarding no one, and it's definitely not a zone coverage. Just luck.

5) Shanle's best game as a Saint was the Superbowl. I can't deny it. I've watched the footage and he made a number of good plays. For this, many things can be forgiven . However, that was his best game by far. Watch him. Please just watch him. He really should not be a starter.
