kane and toews won't be unrestricted free agents until after they are 25, so no worries there. khabibulin's huge contract comes off the books i believe, and the salary cap will only go down slightly next year, because the revenue calculations were made before the collapsing economy. The year after next there will be a significant lowering of the cap. If you look at Ladd's even-strength points compared to the other players he is doing well, plus he is a hard-working two-way player.

I seriously doubt they'd offer him 3mil per year when there are so many coming up they need to resign (Kane, Toews, Keith, Havlat) and the cap is going down.
