Gardiner has had years to get better as a D-man, it hasn't happened. He's afraid of contact, other teams know if they breathe on him heavy he'll cough up the puck. He's got no tenacity, he gives up on the play all the time. The other night Gardiner was stripped of the puck in the corner of his own end and he actually skated AWAY from the guy who'd just picked his pocket!! WTF?

Why in the world is he making as many questionable pinches as he does when the leafs don't have a scoring problem? His constant and many glaring errors far outweigh any upside he has. Who is supposed to be making this guy better? This is starting to make coach Babcock look foolish. Get rid of him.

When I see Gardiner play it is guaranteed he will give an incorrect pass or lose the puck or do some other incorrect thing on the ice and Babcock still puts him out there. In overtime nonetheless. It honestly makes me want to rip my hair out.

Look at this idiot carating his glove out skating like his back dosnt work, even the announcers are calling for a goal when gardiner comes out , how is babcock letting this happen, it's no like he does anything amazing ever,

Gardiner ya know is a high risk guy, the announcer says "he gives it away and almost takes a penalty after coughing it up in front of his net" the other posters are correct this guy is a slacker put him on left wing and play Marchenko when carrick is healthy he should play with martin on the 4th with gauthier , what a great 4th line, he could take all the shots if he wanted!

Why tis Gardiner out there on the OT to tonight? He has fallen down three times already and almost cost us a goal already. What a piece of garbage

Overtime again tonight what does babcock do, puts matthews and nylander on with reilly, why not the hero?

And screws up again on the power play. What electrical current goes through Babcock's head when he puts that idiot out and ruins the power play. Babcock didn't build this team. He was handed a wealth of young talent and only a moron could not do well.

Wastes 30 seconds of the power play on a give away and then another phaneuf style pinch and then sneaks to the bench again. Now he's skating around looking for the puck. Then we here the announcer saying "and Gardiner loses the puck to...". Over and over we hear that. Ridiculous.

Gardiner stalled in overtime long enough for nylander to get covered taking away an excellent scoring chance. Out of pure luck more than skill he shoots on net and scores the of winner. Then celebrates like he just won the Stanley cup by himself. Previous post is correct. If he misses then it's 3 on 1 going back and no way to catch up. Gardiner would likely have gone to the bench for a change and to make sure he's off the ice so he doesn't look like it was his fault. He is such a pansy. But watch for him to pinch or play out of position as he tries for another hero goal.

We keep hearing from the Leafs that the play of Jake Gardiner has improved. What a f*#cking joke that is. If anything this clown has gotten worse.

As long as the Leafs continue to put useless twits like this guy in uniform and try to pass them off as NHL players they will win absolutely nothing.

If gardiner misses that shot it's a 3 on 1 with only matthews back to defend , that was a total gamble for point, it's important to point out how close that was to going back the other way , totally fking anderson again

Time for Gardiner to watch from the press box. Not only does he not play physical as a defenseman should but he turns the puck over and takes stupid penalties all the time.

Still a piece of $hit defenseman.

Would really like to see him get laid out on one of his rushes. Butnhe is so concerned with avoiding contact it could be difficult. Anyone notice his big rushes usually take place when the opponents are on a line change. Open ice and still loses the puck half the time.

First period and Gardiner is coughingnup the puck every shift. His nig breakout pass is so obvious that it is intercepted every time now. Forwards are constantly having to bail him out because he takes to long to think about what to do. A while back I suggested putting Martin back on defense and pushing Gardiner down the line. Now I am watching big Buf for the jets who successfully made that transition. Basically, the less time he is on the ice the better for the leafs. His own players don't even want to pass to him because they know he will likely lose the puck if anyone gets close to him. Such a weak player has no reason to be on the ice. Shattenkirk is available. Go get him

It's impossible that Babcock and others don't notice Jake skating around aimlessly with no purpose. Yet he's still here and will be for a while long I'm afraid.

I wis he would get injured so we can see them with gardiner , they would be better defensively,

A goal and 2 assits leafs the teams plus minus and is top 15 d man for points, how is this all possible....he is the worst 5 on 5 defender they have,

Jake had a lot of trouble playing his position tonight , he can't complete a pass in the defensive end to save his career, how is management letting this happen? I'm sure they really don't care if they win or Lose, it's just how many kadri hats and jerseys they can get the sheeple to buy,
Anonymous (Sophomore) wrote on Mon, 20 Feb 2017 02:38:44 GMT reply
Poor Jake.. he'll never actually be an NHL player just a fake wanna be who got lucky to be signed by fat ass Dave nonis and now they can't get rid of him. He's nothing but a useless waste of space.

Has anyone here seen Gardiner win even a single battle on the boards or in front of the net?? He gets pushed off and is so busy making sure he doesn't get bumped that he doesn't even know where the puck is. Doesn't care as long as hebcan get off the ice. Wimp. Dump him.

Montreal first in their division) fires a coach with à better record over 8 games than Toronto's last 8 games. Just saying. Watched Gardiner give up the puck 3 times in one shift. And he still gets his regular shift. So why isn't he getting benched or pushed down the line up? Because the leafs have failed in the past 5 years to build their defense line up. The glaring hole showed in the loss to Ottawa and how the D are ge5ing penalty after penalty. They have to resort to stupid penalties to cover the lack of talent.Gardiner, Polak and Hunwick are the obvious flaws. Although Gardiner is such a pansy that he stands alone. The forwards are tired from always having to back check and the goalies are frustrated from watching the puck come back in from their own blue line. The leafs have a rebuilt motor (rookies) running on worn out tires (the D corps). Rebuild has to be the entire team. Make some deals soon or its another poor finish.
