those last three posts are hilarious, well stated. great that the Goofinator missed the bus to Lucan, or wherever he is- well done Super-Dunce. And "no shit Sherlock" about Babs, that's funny. Maybe they thought about sending AREA 51 down last season and then decided they just didn't want to screw up both teams so kept the dipshit with the leafs. Can you imagine a defense man that doesn't play the PK? has it ever happened before in the history of the league?

Leafs head mumbler, broken record, english mangler, grumpy parrot and wannabe life coach Mikey Babscrock-a-shit busted off a little $50 million dollar insight for the masses and said 'Well I think the Marlies success is because they had good players' .....well no shit Sherlock. This over paid clown that hasn't won a single playoff round in what 8 years now is a big reason Jake-off hasn't been benched or traded already. And nice way to insult the entire Marlies coaching staff you cranky ego maniac.

Yeah Jake-off Gardenia looks really good tonight. His pathetic excuse for his laughable minus -5 game 7 against Boston was that he 'didn't show up' and tonight he really didn't show up. So refreshing, nice game Jake-off!

Good start to the season. Gardiner isn't on the ice. They should keep him off for the next 80 games.

Not sure how anyone can rate the Goofinator as a respectable defense man. he DOES NOT play on the PK because he's incapable. The coach DOES NOT trust him to do so. It means that all his team mates must cover for his inability, by doing more on the PK, especially the other 5 defenders.
As long as there's penalties to kill, and the 6th man (The Super-Dufus) DOES NOT do his part, there wil be resentment. That resentment will be even worse if the 6th man gets rewarded with more ice time, to cover for the fatigue of the other 5, who are too busy exhausting themselves, killing penalties. It is fairly obvious what is happening. Any defense man that CANNOT kill penalties is a LIABILITY to his team. That is why the other players DO NOT even like AREA 51. Get rid of him before he destroys the entire team.

Clearly one who thinks of himself as a Moses type who has some right to "pontificate" to those he thinks of as less enlightened than him. PS, positive that I'm far better educated than you and far better read and so would easily challenge you to a debate about anything other than Shakespeare,Dickens,Marx and the like. I'm sure I could easily surpass your knowledge of math, science, and history). you're a follower and conformist. you adapt to be considered "progressive". You're a "leftist" because it's more easily digestible these days. You have a subscription to the Toronto Red Star. You use the vernacular (such as "haters") to appear hip and current. You embraced statistics because you're weak minded and incapable of independent thought. You are a modern-day Dufus!

when the Goofinator scores, there's no prolonged hugs from team mates. Why? because they can't stand his lazy, untalented, scared of everything,i don't do penalty kills, weak little low IQ albino ass.
And speaking off "I don't do the penalty kill": if Babs was such a great fan, surely he would have his most trusted on the PK, one of which is NOT the Duncinator: self explanatory.
I say that AREA 51 is very, very far down the list of potential captains or alternate captains, and that the Zamboni Zero knows nothing about what constitutes a Captain, modern or historic. A few examples of the modern guys who succeeded regardless of circumstances and led their teams to victory and WERE the most talented players on their teams: Wayne Gretzky and Sydney Crosby. Perhaps the Great (NOT) Zamboni can recall them in the fog that is left of his puck-bunny memory.
give your head a shake you dumb-ass, junk-science dufus.

When Jake Gardiner is on the ice it's like the Leafs are playing a man short!

I have been watching hockey for close to fifty years and in all that time I don't that I have ever seen any player as totally useless as this guy.

Gather round all ye haters as I pontificate on team captains, assistants and the like on real hockey teams – you know the type of hockey team on which you have never played.
On professional teams like the Maple Leafs the captain has become a marketing tool and does not necessarily reflect the real team captain – the real captain is the leader in the dressing room. On professional teams the assistant captains are just as, or more likely, to be the real leaders of the team.
For teams at a reasonably high level (below professional) you do not necessarily want your best player to be team captain. Who you want is the player who tells your best player ‘Stop ragging the fourth liners because you are making them play worse not better, and if you do not stop I’ll … ’ Or something like that – that is, those that are more concerned with the team than themselves and are vocal are your real leaders.
Now back to the focus of this forum, Jake Gardiner, and why he was passed over for assistant captain in favour of Morgen Reilly. While Jake has been with the Leafs marginally longer than Morgan and Jake’s numbers are marginally better than Morgan, Jake is not as good as Morgen in front of the cameras and probably (because I do not know) not as good a leader in the dressing room as Morgan. That being said, Jake Gardiner is well liked by teammates as witnessed by so many of his teammates who came to his defence after he man-up’d about his game seven performance:
and somewhere men are laughing and somewhere children thrive;
but there is no joy in Leafville, might Jake a minus five.

I'd say that The Duncinator has three fans: his father. his agent.and the Zamboni driver. (the agent might realize that he is actually a dufus-dumbass, but obviously likes his portion of the highly inflated salary that they pay this sad excuse for a hockey player). Oh and one more fan: Brian Burke (he's no longer employed in the NHL), who remains adamant that The Junkinator was a good # 17 pick when he drafted him. He also gave away the Leaf farm system for a little guy named Phil "I'm fat and lazy and will never do anything to help my team mates" Kessel. Well done Brian!

If they put even a decent D man with the Matthews line, they would all score far more goals and there would be far more points to be awarded. A really talented D man like Rielly or Dermott or even Zaitsev. Pairing them with The Goofinator is actually holding them back and wearing them down (perhaps by design?).
Anonymous (Rookie) wrote on Sun, 16 Sep 2018 01:12:36 GMT reply
Number 25? of the best 50 in the league? That would probably put him ahead of Morgan Reilly, who was just named as an Alternate Captain? Again, they overlooked the Super-Dufus. I'm sure that Babs has a say in who gets those letters. If he is "the best coach in hockey today", and did agree with your (misguided) assessment, surely he would have insisted on having the Biggest Dumb-ass in Hockey as an Alternate.
I have really bad news for you: Gardiner is nowhere near elite anything. He cannot even play hockey at the NHL level. He will NEVER be an Alternate Captain-there would be a REVOLT, and BABS would voted OFF the Island, if he were to ever push that agenda. They Hate his incompetence and lack of skill. The TMLs should NEVER consider resigning AREA 51.
Again, there is only one person on this forum who talks about The GOOFINATOR as a real hockey player- the Zamboni driving, communist, leftist, POS,who is probably the only fan of the player formerly known as Jake The FAKE Gardiner.
Let's not quibble. He's lousy hockey player boy, trying to impersonate a hockey player man.
And his agent would be wise to move on to another player.

Jake Gardiner was tied for sixth among defensemen in even-strength points (37) and led the Maple Leafs in ice time with 22:32 per game. His shooting percentage (3.9) was an NHL career low and could easily revert closer to his average (5.9).
In addition, power-play exposure with ‘elite’ center John Tavares (10th among NHL centres hence the elite reference) must make even you doubters (note, I did not say haters) believe Jake is going to have one hellova year.
Clearly Leafs management would be smart to ink Jake to a long-term contract sooner rather than later.

Let’s quibble over the meaning of ‘elite’ shall we?
First no one, other than a misguided contributor to this forum, would construe ‘elite’ to mean best of all time: such as Orr, Potvin, Harvey, Lidstrom, Coffey and the like.
One dictionary definition of elite is a select part of a group that is superior to the rest in terms of ability or qualities. With that in mind let’s do a simple analysis (I am afraid it includes a little math but stick with it I am sure you can follow): there are approximately 186 (31 teams x 6 d-men/team) starting defencemen in the NHL and logically 62 of this 186 are the top two on each team. I would contend that it is reasonable to deem half of the top 62 as elite: a group that is superior to the rest in terms of ability which gives us 31 elite D-men of the 186 D-men in the NHL. With that in mind – the top 31 D-men are elite - now ask Mr. Google who the Top 50 NHL Defensemen are? And you will be pleasantly surprised by his answer - our Jake is right there at 25.
After reading such a rigorous, irrefutable analysis I am sure that now most of you agree with arguably the best coach in hockey today, Mike Babcock, who has stated that Jake is elite – and, by the way, with which I agree whole heartily.

I heard that Area 51 was a minus 5 in the inter-squad game. But Babs just blamed it on Zaitsev.

According to Cap Geek, The Maple Leafs are paying this stiff Gardiner $4,050,000 for this current season and the same amount through the 2018-2019 season. I find it simply unbelievable that someone with such minimal, if any talent can command that kind of coin. It makes me wonder what players like Bobby Orr or Brad Park would be worth today!!!

Is there a more gullible player than The Goofinator? He falls for everything. He has his skate-about. he ices the puck, disguised as a ricochet-off-the-boards pass, every second shift and pisses off his team mates. he pisses-off his goaltender regularly and has no idea how to handle a one-on-one, certainly not a two on one. he doesn't block a single shot or check a single opponent during the entire game. he's the player his team mates fear most on the power play (because he will very likely give the puck away to a rushing defender) . he somehow avoids the call for a shift on the PK, no matter how many penalties there are against, in any game. He skates right by an opposition forward with obvious puck possession, as he scrambles to get back into the play. It took him 5 full seasons in the NHL to understand that he should not block the view of the goaltender, or flail his stick in the air at an overhead pass, like an irresponsible six year old. he consistently drives the puck into the defenders shin pads. he pees his pants on the ice on trade-deadline day.
And those are his strong points.
In spite of all this, Babcock plays him with the top line. Go figure!

Today was another bleak day in Maple Leafs history. Strangely, our hero, The Goofinator, was passed over once agin and was NOT selected as an alternate captain. His remarkable play and "elite" status, as described by some media types and the Stats Goof Mr. Zamboni, did not result in recognition. The Stats Goof will argue that they are saving him for a battle with Auston Matthews over the captaincy. I doubt it very, very, very much. Passed over again, darn it! and I'm sure they wanted him for Team USA in the spring, but like they do every year, just lost his number, or surely would have called. Damn it, there's no justice for an "elite" D man these days, NONE!
