One of the hardest working fourth liners in the game today he knows his role and plays it well hes a solid penalty killer and can be a physical presence he'll have a decently long career

I met Jerred many years ago in Calgary long before he was playing in the NHL. He was super sweet to everyone and the least egotystical person you will ever meet. He wasn't pushy or aggressive at all. It is sad that you people haven't learned the saying "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all"!!! And as far as him being "generic"  1 in 500,000 players make it to the pros!! How is that Generic???
Pull the broomstick out of your ass.  A lot of the players with Nashville have got screwed over.  You need to learn a little more about the game, before you put down someone else's opinion.  Not everyone sees the game or players in the same way.  Smithson is playing pretty good this year, but the past years he got screwed over, he would have been better to stay with LA.  Hordichuk I know thinks he is in the league for fighting, but he loses most of his fights, he needs to stick with playing hockey, but again, hard to get better when you don't get any ice time.  Upshall, now that he is getting time with Philly, is not living up to his potential of a 1st round pick, but at least he is getting played now.  4th liners though are a dime a dozen, and there are hundreds waiting to take that spot.   I really don't see Hordichuk playing very long in the NHL, Smithson as long as he plays for cheap, might surprise me.   Now you are quite welcome to comment on my remarks, without accusing a person of not knowing the game.
NO every teams needs 4th liners like smithson. He is big, takes the body and kills penalties. Will never get much more then 20 pts in a season. He has a role and is effective. Not all of your 12 forwards are gong to score 50 goals. Decent skater with little offensive upside. His size and style have kept him in the NHL. Where a guy like Upshall has never played to his potential. Smithson is a classic 4th liner who could find employment playing the same role with other teams. He did play with the kings before coming to the preds. Anyone who thinks smithson sucks just doesnt understand the game and the different roles that players have on a team. By your logic Hordichuck is a terrible player, because he only scores 3-4 goals a year. Well Darcy isnt in the NHL, for scoring goals. Learn a little more about the game, before you make comments like you made.
Every year I watch the Predators, and every year Smithson is back.  The guy has never done anything.  They have let this guy play for at least the past 4 years, when they left a guy like Upshall down in the Minors.  The Predators, need to have their heads examined.  Mr. Smithson you are barely an ECHL player.
