I can't help but wonder what the Penguins players and coaches think when they see Stamkos and Ovie deliver one-timer goals from their off wings on the half boards on the PP. They must WISH they had a right handed shot player who was capable of one-timers from the left side on the PP. The extra split second advantage that a one-timer gives a shooter, instead of stopping the puck dead, cradling it and wristing it (no matter how hard your wrist shot might be), is crucial these days. That split second keeps the shooting lane open, prevents shot blockers from positioning themselves, and prevents goalies from shifting over in time. Timing is everything in today's game of inches. I would bet that this off season, the Pens will be actively searching for a right hander who is capable of one-timing hard passes on the PP, and who can regularly score at even strength. If they had one already, they might still be playing.

52 total hits thrown by the Pens tonight in a very physical game. EVERY Penguin player but one registered at least one hit, most with multiple hits. No surprise who registered the no-hitter. He was also the giveaway leader on the night. He was also out of position most of the night, and was demoted to the third line pre-game. Of course we are talking about Phil Kessel. He had one shot on goal. Most players who struggle for stretches in the playoffs eventually have a breakout game. Not Kessel. However, he IS winning in the celebrity impersonation category, as he is the spitting image of Zack Galifianakis from The Hangover - face double and body double. Then again, Kessel DOES look like a hung over 50-some year old long haul trucker, so... Kessel, with his incomplete game - he refuses physical contact, has no one-timer, no slap shot, zero hockey IQ, zero creativity, zero charisma - is like a mechanic who can only repair black cars. He's like a vet who can only treat budgies. He's like an accountant who can only compute even numbers. He's like a plumber who doesn't know how to use a pipe wrench. He's THAT inept. It's THAT bad. Sad but true.

Another stellar start in today's game. Giveaway on the PP directly leads to a 2-on-1. Surprised Sullivan didn't send him straight to the dressing room after that one. Gave away at least two more in the first 15 minutes. Why does this guy keep getting ice time?

Defending Kessel’s one-trick-pony, incomplete game by saying “so what, he’s a two time Stanley cup champion” is like defending Trump’s highly defective and toxic personality by saying “ so what, he’s a billionaire ”. Achievements and character (or lack thereof) are NOT mutually exclusive. And Phil, you KNOW that your shrink advised you, for the good of your mental health, to NOT visit this site, raaaaaaaight?!

Hey man, I'm going to guess you are a Leafs fan who is mad that Phil Kessel is a two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Penguins. Last year in the playoffs Kessel was +12 and 8 goals/15 assists. The year before he was +5 and 10 goals/12 assists. If you are in fact a Leafs fan, enjoy the offseason!

Penguins were Cup Champions, while Giveaway Kessel was merely along for the ride. He was nothing more than a Clean-Up player waiting for the easy tap-ins while his teammates had to do all of the hard work along the boards, hitting, blocking shots, back-checking, and playing with Heart!
None of those attributes are a part of Klown Kessel's game!

(neither of those were with the Leafs, by the way. They were both with the Penguins in 2016 and most recently in 2017. The Leafs haven't won since 1967, when there were six teams. There are now 31)

Daily reminder that Phil Kessel is a 2x Stanley Cup champion

In last night's 7-5 series clinching win, Phil Kessel was remarkable for a wide variety of reasons, as follows:
He literally shit his pants in the first 2 periods, looking terrified to make mistakes and create giveaways, which is exactly WHY he made PLENTY of mistakes and was guilty of MANY giveaways. PLUS, he lost EVERY 50/50 puck battle he chose to engage in. YES his assist on Hagelin's goal was a beauty, but for the REST of the first 2 periods, Kessel was a MASSIVE liability.
Kessel needs to frame last night's scoresheet to PROVE that he once had a roughing penalty in his career. It was sad though, the way he "roughed up" (cough, cough) little Claude Giroux, whom Kessel KNEW would not mind Kessel bear hugging him. HAd ANY OTHER FLYER made that hit on Kessel's teammate, there would have been NO such "retribution" (cough, cough). So, it was the dictionary definition of false bravado.
Kessel's steal at the Philly blueline and nice pass play to Guentzel was indeed a gem, but it also clearly amplifies the frustration people HAVE about Kessel. That extra effort play by Kessel was CLEARLY intended to redeem himself for his costly goal-resulting giveaway in game 5. Kessel really beared down and was able to make the steal easily because defenders are used to him just skating by them while feebly waving his stick at them. On THAT play, Kessel demonstrated that he IS CAPABLE of playing with that kind of grit and determination, but he's obviously just not interested in playing that way on a regular basis, the way Sid and others do.
Lastly, as usual, Kessel did NOT play during the final 3 minutes of last night's game, even with a 2 and 3 goal lead!!! A hockey player who CANNOT be trusted to play in the final 3 minutes of a big game, REGARDLESS of the score, is NOT a true, complete hockey player. Period.

Kessel:
Traded from two teams at a young age, while benched in Boston for numerous playoff games for his poor defensive play.
Caused 3 coaches to be fired in Toronto, while refusing to anything they asked of him in regards to showing up in shape to training camp, trying different breakout plays, and playing the opposite wing -- he told them all to F@ck Off!
Destroyed the moral and character of the Entire Maple Leaf Team.
After being traded to Pens, he ruined Crosby's year by casing him to go pointless in his first 6 games while Kessel was on his line.
Kessel then gets kicked off the second line with Malkin because he couldn't play his position properly nor stop fighting with Malkin.
Kessel then gets kicked off the Malkin line.
Kessel twice was kicked of the top Power Play unit (couldn't one-time shots).
Kessel was then kicked off the US Olympic and World Cup Teams for being a SELFISH, ONE-DIMENSIONAL PLAYER THAT NONE OF THE OTHER TEAM MEMBERS WANTED TO PLAY WITH (except for his buddy JVR)!
Kessel only became successful on the Pens as a 3RD LINE PLAYER AND POWER PLAY SPECIALIST, AS HE SUCKS AT EVERY OTHER ASPECT OF THE GAME OF HOCKEY.
PHIL KESSEL SUCKS! PERIOD!!!

If Phil Kessel was a fifth grader, he'd be the kid sitting at the back of the class, mouthing off at the teacher but never responding when called upon.  He would never do his homework. He'd fail his tests and blame his teachers. He'd never participate in phys. ed. unless it was for floor hockey. He'd have more lunch money than everyone else, but he would only eat junk food. He'd be the least popular kid in the school because he would sneer and grimace at everyone, yet would be a coward when challenged. But at least he would have perfect attendance, raaaaight?

In the Pens' 7-0 win last night, with just 1 PPG, so +6 up for grabs, Kessel was a +/- ZERO. He had his usual no-hitter. He was +1 in giveaways, however. Meanwhile, Crosby was a beast and Guentzel was a force.

Malkin already has more goals (38) than Kessel's career high for a single season. And, of course, Kessel is on pace to score his usual low to mid 30's in the goals column, because he's only interested in scoring one particular type of goal. Malkin truly is the alpha dog on the Pens. Kessel will never get the respect he BELIEVES he deserves, because he's a "point collector", not a dynamic, difference-making impact player. Kessel is like a field goal kicker, who is near the top in points scored, but doesn't get the recognition or respect that football position players get. And the poor soul just doesn't have a clue as to why that is, even though it's painfully obvious, even to a casual observer of the game of hockey. Sad but true.

You people are so sad.
"I have FAR more respect for complete, two way players with high compete levels and high hockey
IQ’s (like Ovechkin and Tavares) who have NEVER won the cup than I do for Kessel with his
cup rings"
Do you even watch hockey bro? Because you clearly don't understand the game. Get over yourself.
