Alex Ovechkin's Girlfriend

It is strange.  The only photo I recall of them together is the Twiiter pic Ovechkin posted two months ago.  The only sighting of them together was at a DC club a month and a half ago.  Since then nothing.  It's also very odd neither has said anything about her birthday.  Who knows what's going on with them now.

Someone on Twitter posted Maria wasn't there, but Ovechkin was spotted entering a club with some girls.  I wonder what's going on.  Is Ovechkin already grown tired of the long separations and seeking female companionship elsewhere?  If Ovechkin and Maria wanted to get together, they could have met somewhere in between so one wouldn't have the entire burden of flying across multiple time zones.  If they met in Moscow, for example, they both would have had the opportunity to visit with family and friends they don't get to see very often, and also to celebrate her birthday in their mutual home city.  Maybe they didn't want to get together?

Reply-to:Looks like Ovechkin didnt go to Australia after all, and with Maria immediatly off to another tennis tournament they probably didnt get to visit with each other during the All-Star Break.  Besides those pictures of Ovechkin in Florida pretty much show him busy enjoying the sun and sand.  Hes got that charity in Montreal on Friday then hes supposed to be back in the lineup for Saturdays game, right?  I really hope he improves his game and stops doing those hits so he isnt suspended anymore.  I still think he should have sucked it up and gone to Ottawa but then again Ovechkin is Ovechkin.  Meh.

Maybe she would be stupid enough to go across all those time zones to spend a few days with him in Miami.  She had to retire from her singles and doubles matches due to injury.  She seems serious about her pro tennis career and wants to improve her ranking and results.  Logic says she should rehab her left knee and prepare for her next tournament in Thailand.  Let's see if she is smart and not stupid, if she puts her career first or is more into her personal life.

I don't know their status for sure either.  Ovechkin has a charity event in Montreal the day before the February 4 game against the Canadiens.  I wouldn't be surprised if he goes on the road trip with the Caps for the TB Lightning and FL Panthers games.  He would be with the team to give moral support, plus get in some skating on his own and perhaps even a practice or two before the MTL game.  Going without skating for two weeks could make him less effective in terms of conditioning and timing, and I assume he wouldn't want to to take that risk.  A few days vacation seems reasonable, but to go to Australia for a short time with  time zone differences and jet lag doesn't make sense since the fatigue could also negatively affect  his effectiveness for the MTL game.

He can't always depend on his parents to keep him in line especially when he's distracted by someone like Maria. Maybe the Capitals need a huge shake-up in the roster and give him ideas just because he has a 13-year contract doesn't mean he's invincible?

Reply-to: Anonymous (Rookie) wrote on Mon, 09 Jan 2012 00:32:03 GMT:  Call it coincidence or whatever, the timing is very interesting.  While it's true other players have wives or girlfriends and do just fine, Ovechkin might be one of those who has difficulty striking a balance between his professional and personal life.  He could be too easily distracted and unfocused when he's spending a lot of time trying to impress a new gf.  You would think he would have realized this by now and rearranged his priorities.  The Caps are paying him mega millions to score goals and lead the team, not to entertain his gf of the moment.
