Honey, you need to calm down. Sasha has been here since before the NHL lockout. I dont care how long it takes you to learn a language - almost a decade and you should have it down. FORCE yourself to speak ONLY the language and you'll be fine. Obviously Sasha doesnt care - and that doesnt bother me because I am fluent in Russian. But for other fans it seems a tad unfair because they dont see the side other natives see...

I'm sure he speaks English well enough to get by and communicate with his team mates. He also understands Englishwell. At least he is trying. Some people are better at languages than others. I have been studying Spanish for years and frequently travel to Spanish speaking countries and while I read it well, I would never conduct a media interview in it. Leave Sasha alone! You sound like some kind of jerk!

His English is not bad - by any means. But it is NOT going to get better by not speaking it. 1 month of being in Russia I was practically fluent ..

That's why Sasha has been doing more English interviews and appearing at more fan-related functions. It's time he did those things and while it's clear his English is really not very good, certainly not good enough to do a full English language media interview, the extra PR efforts don't hurt. I've never understood why speaking English in interviews is so important, anyway. Big deal. Most sports figures who's first language is English can't express themselves either. I'd rather watch Sasha play. It's a hockey game, not a presidential debate!

It's the media. They don't like him because he doesn't like to do interviews in English, so they dump on him. Russian prejudice, especially from Canadians.

Wow! What a goal by Semin today, and he was the main reason for Hendrick's goal. He was on fire. I am going to the game tomorrow at Verizon. Anyone seen his gf there at games? Where does she sit?

Oh he was great! Smiling and talking AND winking (lol) - he was very personable. He was talking to his interpreter before/after we took our picture but he made up for it by looking FINE AS HELL in that pic!

Plus he is playing really, really well defensively and has a lot of spring in his step. He looks really happy! Im so glad things have turned around for him after a bad early part of the season. I'm glad someone besides me sees how well he does defensively.
