I agree totally that he should be here with the team.  I think it sends the wrong message for one thing.  He is getting paid big bucks to be part of the team, and while he may have a concussion and not be able to skate or play at the moment, it seems to me it would be worthwhile for him to sit in on meetings and whatnot.  I mean it would be totally different if his gf lived somewhere closeby and he was spending time with her b/c he can't play afterall.   But seriously, to travel to Sweden, halfway around the world, while you have a concussion, seems a bit much to me too.  I mean he's the injured one, why didn't she come and spend time with him here if they have to see each other so desperately?  And no, I don't agree about her being pretty.  She looks over-tanned and way older than her years.  She looks like she's about 40 to be honest and his mother.  She needs to lay off the sun for awhile and he could do much better trust me.

Im pretty sure he is back thiugh. It seems weird for him to be in sweden while his team is playing! I feel bad for him. He was doing great...leading the team in points, everything.(he still is) He is such a great player . He did not deserve that at all. Cant wait for him to come back.

Nick's my favorite player too, he needs to stay here and do whatever it takes to heal. Rest here, skate a little, exercise a little - whatever it takes. It's exhausting to travel, he's overdoing it I think :( We need him here.

I agree. I understand that he has a concussion and all, and only he knows how comfortable he feels to get back on the ice. But....how can he go to the airport, get on the plane, get off the plane, and go see his gf, and not skate a tiny bit. I am concerned...if he feels bad enough that he can go to sweden, thats not a good sign. I am not expecting him to go on the ice, and be touched by a single soul, but why doesnt he skate a little. Hes never gonna know how he feels until he trys. Although, it is important for him to get some rest.

Kitty, let me assure you I have a great deal of repect for Backstrom and great admiration for his hockey abilities.  He is my favorite NHL hockey player.  I am truly grateful for everything he has contributed to the team since he started playing with the Caps.  I wish only the best for him both on and off the ice.  However, I will stand by my earlier post in not understanding why he is able to fly over 4,000 miles (one way) in an airplane where air pressure can most certainly be a problem.  I know the agony it causes my ears when I fly, I also know it can cause extreme swelling, so I can only assume it must be somewhat of a problem to a person with a sensitive head.  Also,  in my earlier post I stated I didn't expect him to practice with the team, just simply skate.  I didn't mean at full speed, just a simple slow skate.  I'm sorry, but I don't believe a simple skate is more detremental to his head than flying over 8,000 miles.  I just don't buy it. And yes, it does make me wonder why he is willing to take the risk to fly all that way to see his girlfriend, but won't take the risk for a simple little skate.
Reply-to:Look, if he has only skated for five minutes since hes been out, Im sure his injury is pretty serious.  Should he lay in bed all day and do nothing?  No, but if he can fly to Scandanavia, why cant he skate?  How much effort does that take?  Im not saying he should be in a game taking hits, or even practice with the team yet, but a little skating cant be any more trying than flying back and forth to Sweden.
I am going to assume that you've never had a serious concussion before.  Trust me, the sort of fast movements required when simply skating around a rink is not good when you've got a concussion - you end up dizzy and a bit out of sorts, and it can set you back a bit.  Sometimes even simply moving your head too fast can trigger that whole dizzy/headache response.  You may feel fine walking but not running - your whole equilibrium is off.  Nicklas suffered more than a slight bump to the head so this isn't something he can just shake off and get back to playing hockey.

He was not playing around at home, my friend told me he and Liza were resting at liza's parents place for a few days. Think it's better for him to be at home and rest during his concussion.

Well....we need him back. This is not the time to have guys hurt. We need to be cruising by march. Hopefully he is back be then:).... I think its nice he is seeing friends and family. Whats going on with Liza and Nick?

His hair isn't white.....

Close enough.

Reply-to:Are you kidding me?   If he can fly all the way to Sweden and be out and about playing around, seems to me he is well enough to get his butt back on the ice and help his team.
Flying to Gavle and spending time with friends and family does not equal 'playing around'. Depending on the severity of the concussion flying and being up and around is fine - being on the ice and at risk of taking another blow to the head before all concussion symptoms are gone is a completely different story. Having a concussion does not mean a person is stuck on forced bed rest - they can still do things but they have to be careful with their head.

Reply-to: A few days ago um wrong bc they were still playing hockey a few days ago.
Don't forget that Nicklas has not been playing due to his concussion so it could very well be that he has been in Sweden.  If he can't play he may have gotten permission to fly home for a bit.

Reply-to:dude im sorry but i dont understand why everyone is convinced theyre together. no one has even produced a picture of them together, or near each other. if the fact that he follows her on twitter is all the evidence you have, then she could be his neighbor or his old babysitter or something for all you know.

Nick has them in a relationship on his personal facebook...Need anymore proof, that's enough for me. I am friends with him on fb. He put that up a while ago.
