Why is that so hard to believe? They are getting married, did you think he was going to keep he wife separate from his kids? Right now his ex has them more often than he does but that is going to change when he retires. And it doesn't matter what his ex thinks, if he has decided to remarry she can't keep the kids away from him without just cause. Simply not liking his new wife won't cut it with a judge.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I don't know him, so I would not imply that there is anything wrong with him. I only know his public persona, and from that aspect I don't see anything wrong. He seems like a respectable and honorable individual, and a caring father.
