I would live for Zach to be on the New Jersey Devils for a long time.  He has earned his spot as captain and he is a team player.  I watched him play for the RiverRats in Albany in 2004-2005 and he was the first one out to practice and the last one off the ice before the game started.  I also have a replica jersey with your rookie number11 on it along with a Albany RiverRat patch and a New Jersey Devil patch.  I will be watching and I would like to either meet you some day or to email you. chill the f--- out. zach is being honest, he's not sugarcoating some bs saying money doesn't matter, and i prefer that over anything else. he also said countless times he wants to win and he wants to stay in nj. there have been no negotiation, so who even knows at this point.

if money is all he cares about than good riddance!  What ever happened to loyalty to the organization who gave you your start and to the fans who pay your salary!  Zach should talk to Patrick Elias.  He could teach him a thing or two about class and what it takes to be a real star in this league.  He should also remember what happened to Scott Gomez's career when he bailed for the money.  JP Parise should take a lesson from Gomez's dad and stop giving interviews!

Honestly, I don't care what Lou's policies are. I mean, I am the biggest Devils fan you will ever meet. And I have the biggest hugest crush on Zach ever!!! Also, Alisha subs at my hs. I have still met him a million times. So chill out. The Devils might not interact with fans as much as the Flyers, but they still do! So stop being greedy!!! p.s. I luvvv u zachh <3

Wow, she is cute! But I guess what would you expect with a good looking guy like Zach. You never see an unattractive girl with any of these NHL players.

I love that Alisha has been involved in all the charities!

I noticed that too! Although it's mostly been Marty's wife Gen, Alisha, and Pelley's gf. It's too bad he's a healthy scratch almost every game.

I've actually noticed that the devils have been publicizing the events the wives and girlfriends do more this year.. before they never put pictures up of the wives doing fundraisers or drives

No team is immune to having internal problems. And besides, the Devils had serious locker room issues last season... Langenbrunner anyone? I really think he deserves blame for why the Devils started off so poorly (of course there are other factors like coaching). He even admitted to have saying he didn't try because he was bitter that the Devils asked him to waive his NTC before the season began.

And anyway, a lot of teams have their PR guys monitor what their players are saying online. I don't get why Lou won't allow that.

But that's the thing, I don't think allowing the players to interact with fans via social media will actually affect their on ice play. Carter and Richards may have partied and had their business plastered all over the media, but they still performed, and the Flyers have had greater post-season success in recent years than the Devils.
I mean, the Devils are so tight lipped about the smallest things, it's just unnecessary to me.
Lou should stick to solely running the on-ice operations of the team and not interfere with PR or marketing.

Lou will never budge on these things, especially twitter. Last night the flyers/lightning game was pretty controversial and I believe Lupul commented on the situation via twitter. In my eyes, Lou would absolutely hate if his players did something like that. Lou is all about keeping quiet, staying classy and minding your business. he is known for his "status quo" comment for things going on with the team. All I could think about w/things like this is what happened with Carter and Richards over the summer. These guys were all over the internet w/their partying photos for years and years, and finally it caught up to them. Lou would have put the kabosh on that nonsense before it reached the point where the media would speculate on what those guys were doing and how it affected the lockeroom.

Although he didn't use it much, Adam Larsson's twitter is now gone. Ridiculous.

Chicago's troubles had to do with terrible ownership. Now they sell-out almost every home game. My point in bringing up Chicago is that they market their players and encourage fan interaction while still being a successful team. The Devils have a fairly young fanbase and now a young team, they need to take advantage of that. I don't see how the players having a Twitter is a problem. The best way to market a team is through it's players. And I think the whole no social media rule is so backwards.

being open is a double edge sword, some players r too open IMO. but anyways, Lou has always been this way, it won't change until he leaves and even then he may choose his successor, who may carry on the same traditions. Chicago was brought up, but at one point chicago was even worse than the Devils. Fans couldn't even watch the team on T.V    so, things can change. the devils are a fairly young franchise in comparison to others.  and the wives/gfs visiting hospitals? the devils did something like this 1 yr, i believe it was 08-09. i remember watching on MSG the ladies brought some children toy shopping for Christmas. who knows maybe they still do this, but its not publicized.  personally i dont care, i just watch to see the team win.

...Just look at Chicago. They are so open with their fanbase and that in no way hinders their on ice performance.

No denying how essential Lou is to the Devils' franchise... but come on, this a technology driven world, time to let go of some of the old school mentality...
I'm a huge Devils fan, but let's be honest, the reputation they once had of being successful, perennial contenders is long gone. This team no longer has its winning identity, but they do have young, up and coming players like Adam Henrique and Adam Larsson and all the Swedes, plus Zach Parise and Ilya Kovalchuk, and a legend in Marty Brodeur who is probably in his last season. This team has no idea how to market itself.
