Honey, you need to calm down. Sasha has been here since before the NHL lockout. I dont care how long it takes you to learn a language - almost a decade and you should have it down. FORCE yourself to speak ONLY the language and you'll be fine. Obviously Sasha doesnt care - and that doesnt bother me because I am fluent in Russian. But for other fans it seems a tad unfair because they dont see the side other natives see...

I'm sure he speaks English well enough to get by and communicate with his team mates.  He also understands Englishwell.  At least he is trying.  Some people are better at languages than others.  I have been studying Spanish for years and frequently travel to Spanish speaking countries and while I read it well, I would never conduct a media interview in it.  Leave Sasha alone!  You sound like some kind of jerk!

That's why Sasha has been doing more English interviews and appearing at more fan-related functions.  It's time he did those things and while it's clear his English is really not very good, certainly not good enough to do a full English language media interview, the extra PR efforts don't hurt.  I've never understood why speaking English in interviews is so important, anyway.  Big deal.  Most sports figures who's first language is English can't express themselves either.  I'd rather watch Sasha play.  It's a hockey game, not a presidential debate!

Oh he was great! Smiling and talking AND winking (lol) - he was very personable. He was talking to his interpreter before/after we took our picture but he made up for it by looking FINE AS HELL in that pic!

Yes, he gets better and better each game.  Also, I heard Alan May say that Sasha's skates got caught up with the Pred player's skates and the Pred player fell awkwardly.  It was not boarding.  But refs never give Sasha the benefit of the doubt.  Luckily, Hunter seems to realize this and keeps playing him.  The more Sasha plays and scores the more confidence he gets and the better he gets.  The new coaching change has been good for him.

I'm going to the game tonight.  I've been to 3 games so far this season and the Caps have won them all, Sasha has scored in them all and he has not taken a stick penilty in any of them!  Maybe I'm his good luck charm.  I guess we'll see if my luck continues.

I don't think Semin is being traded now, if at all, for several reasons.  Even though he is in a slump now, he has consistently put up at least 26 goals every year for the Caps (and some years way more than that) and his play off numbers are very good.  Very few other NHL players have the kind of numbers he has over such a long period of time.  He would be very hard to replace because other teams are not going to trade a really good player away.  They need those players.  Despite what the haters say, Semin is a rare player and GM would need to get his full value.  If not, the Caps are without at least a threat every time he's on the ice.  If you look at the Caps forwards now, they cannot afford to let him go for draft picks or lower level/less skilled players because they then would have only 3 good lines without Semin.  Trading him at the deadline would be difficult, too, because Semin could just walk at the end of the season.  Another team would not want to trade for one of their best players to get someone who may then leave.  Plus Semin has played for the Caps for 6 years and has been a big part of the success of the team.  He has been a loyal player and GM and Ted like him.  They reward loyalty.  Is Semin frustrating this year with the penalities and lack of scoring?  You bet!  But I'd bet a lot that the team will think long and hard about trading such a valuable asset!

I don't believe GM G. McPhee is ready to trade Sash just yet.
GMGM wants to see what the new Coach can do with #28 (and the rest of the team.)

I know Coach Hunter will do his best to work some magic with #28 & #8 and I hope to see Sasha and Ovie scoring goals soon.

That was NOT Semin's gf that was w/ Ovi's dad that day. It was a friend of Ovi's family, Russian Tennis Player,  Maria Kirilenko, she was at the game that night as well.

Of course everyone noticed!  It was topic number one all over the media (besides Crosby's return).  But there's nothing we can do about it can we?  It is what it is, so we might as well discuss his love life, if we can find out more about it.  It's a lot more uplifting than the depressing hockey the Caps are playing these days and the constant dumping on of Sasha!  At least he appears to have the support of a great girl!

Didn't see the long haired woman yesterday but saw the blond 20something again with Ovi's dad. Think it's Ovi's freind not Semins.
