That was my thought. There's some sort of appearance of the Russian national team on Tuesday in Moscow, but I don't know if the player's families will be involved. If not, then we'll see who he takes to the NHL award show next month. If anything new turns up, I'll pass it along.

"Evgeni Malkin Broke Up With His Girlfriend
The famous Russian hockey player, Stanley Cup winner and world champion Evgeni Malkin broke up with his girlfriend, model Oksana Kondakova. Recently, 29-year-old Kondakova seemed about to become the 25-year-old Malkin's wife, and even have a baby.
At least, that's what the tabloids infered from a recent interview with Oksana Kondakova, in which she stated that after "four years of testing," they were ready to build a life together.
However, according to friends of the athlete, Malkin and Kondakova are no longer together. It is unknown whether the split happened before the Ice Hockey World Championship 2012, where he conquered all with his inspired play, or after the tournament.
Perhaps this decision was influenced by Evgeni Malkin's parents, who were against his relationship with Oksana Kondakova. According to them, Kondakova, who when she met Malkin was married to a wealthy businessman, is only interested in money."

Nope, I don't know anything.  Did anyone spot her at the Worlds in those photos from the Russian media? Malkin is back in Russia, right?  So who knows we might see "summer vacay" pics like last year?  That's unlike Ovechkin who has been tweeting pictures of him with Maria in Paris (Maria suffered a foot injury in just her first match so she's already out of the tournament).

Reply-to:Its awesome to see Geno win the scoring title and take home the gold with team Russia.  But do you think he would trade all that for the Cup?  Cause I think he would.....  Nothing bad, just a thought.

I don't know about that. The IIHF World Championship is a huge deal in Europe. There were viewing parties set up in town squares throughout Slovakia and Russia and most of the town turned out to attend. There were traffic jams at 1 or 2 in the morning in Moscow because people were partying in the streets. I don't think the US does that even for the Olympics. Maybe if it's a really small town that has a local athlete competing, but most viewing parties here happen in sports bars, not the center of town.

Reply-to: Anonymous (Legend) wrote on Thu, 17 May 2012 21:53:09 GMT: Probably because so many Canadian and US players still in SC playoffs.

Apologies in advance for this long "shop talk totally unrelated to Malkin" post.

I don't belive that because of the Stanley Cup playoffs that was why Canada and the USA were ousted from the Worlds.  They both made a lot of stupid moves and kind of had meltdowns at the end.

Here's why I say that the Stanley Cup Playoffs had no bearing on the Worlds.  The Worlds Preliminary Rounds didn't start until May 4.  On April 27 there were 22 NHL teams to choose players from (8 were still in the playoffs). On May 9 another 3 NHL teams had available players.  That's a total of 25 NHL teams that had American and Canadian players available for the Worlds.  I think that is more than plenty of excellent players to assemble a roster from, no?

Additionally, tons of players were invited to be on either Team Canada or Team USA and they said all no for various reasons.  They don't get paid to go to the Worlds, and I honestly think a lot of NHL players view it as a vacation because the hockey organizations pay to have families and friends come over.  And when  you have your team's captain (Getzlaf) carousing around at 4:00am in the morning with a bunch of other players (Benn, Perry, and who else) I don't know if that's good leadership or what?  Anyway, getting off track here.

It is clear leaving the Worlds this early is not good for either Canada or USA when it comes to Sochi 2014 because this year was the qualifying year for determining the round-robin pools (and practice times).  I am not certain what the issue was that both USA and Canada lost.  Both teams did very well up to now.  Canada was number one in its pool to boot.  There's awesome players on both rosters.  Yes, some "superstars" were missing like Kane, Toews, Crosby, etc., but that shouldn't be the reason.

So now with Canada seeded 5 and USA seeded 6 this puts them in separate round-robin pools against whoever wins the gold, silver, and bronze at this year's Worlds.  So instead of playing against "weaker teams" from the start they'll be playing "stronger teams" and could very well be booted early at the 2014 Olympics.

In either case I just find it interesting both the USA and Canada with an all-NHL roster failed and teams that have very few NHL players continued on to the next round.

MALKIN: I would go on the ice is not to fight with FRANZENOM ..
- Eugene, the Swedes have provoked much ...
- I do not think that just me. Each encounter was a provocation on the part of two teams. But this game. Hockey without such moments do not happen. Well, what we endured, great acting in the minority in the end. But it must be less disposed. Skip three goals in the minority - a lot.

- You can say that when Franzen useful to you with his fists, then only you angry?
- It does not say. I did not go out to fight Franzenom, and show a good game. The collision happened optional. I tried to focus just on hockey, not fights. But without this does not happen. All's well that ends well.

- It's your best game of the season?
- Best match of the Russian national team in the tournament - laughing Malkin. - I hope with every game, we'll just have to add. On this victory does not end the tournament. Now we meet with the Czechs. This will be the most important match. We have a chance to win first place in the group.

- What changed after the score was 1-3?
- Practically nothing. We talked in the locker room. Sweden scored all the goals in the majority. Hence, we do not need be removed. And when we played the "5 by 5", then came our washer. The Swedes could not do anything to us in equal compositions. And of course, Simeon Varlamov was brilliant.

- We agree that all provocations "Tre Krunur" only brought Russian team?
- Well, the Swedes did not score again. Zabros they are still a couple of goals, all could have ended sadly. But we have stood for five minutes in the minority. And with fresh forces fled in the attack, scored a quick goal.

- Now everyone will be screaming that Russia - the main favorite. How to treat this?
- We must not read newspapers. And you write less about it!

Other part of the Article I posted yesterday-
HOCKEY

"Soviet Sport" publishes the full version of the "straight line" with Evgeni Malkin, during which the main star of the World Cup meet at the intricate questions of journalists and newspaper readers.

"Datsyuk and Crosby - HOCKEY Messiah"

In the last issue we wrote, as Evgeni Malkin chest rose up in defense of his friend Alexander Radulov, who is rigidly traversed in "Nashville":
- I think in the U.S. went too far. Although, if Sasha was playing at that level, which is expected of him, about him no one would even not say a bad word!
Question from a reader ER: - Why in the Urals as often born superstar: Malkin, Datsyuk, and now Eugene Kuznetsov? With the edge of the extraordinary?
- Why only the Urals? Kovalchuk was born in Tver, Ovechkin - in Moscow ... Just in Magnitogorsk, Chelyabinsk, Yekaterinburg is very well developed hockey. No one is distracted by football, basketball, tennis and other sports. Parents are just kids in the hockey section.
MacLeod: - Who would you call "hockey Lionel Messi?"
- There are two candidates - Pavel Datsyuk and Sidney Crosby. Most often, I see Datsyuk as a rival. But with Crosby we play "Pittsburgh." I know how he plows in training. How injected on the ice, hockey gives himself. All of his victories and awards - through sweat and blood. Sidney insanely talented, but I am amazed it works. Never seen a player who would have lived as hockey.
Seryi1: - you do not plan to win the Gagarin Cup?
- For once there was a lockout in the NHL. Why not be the second? To be honest, I did a little bit forward. Miss Russia. He came to the team, and family breathed. Speak Russian, you know all the jokes. It is not in America, there are sometimes overwhelmed by grief. So I would love to play for "Magnitogorsk".
- There is SKA, "Salavat Yulaev", "Ak Bars" ...
- I remember when Ilya Kovalchuk said of returning to "Spartacus," appeared in Kazan and the fans booed. But I - no options, only "Metallurg" (Magnitogorsk)!

"ONCE UPON A TIME IN HONOR OF MY wrote the song"

Krak: - How do you assess the potential of young guys Yevgeny Kuznetsov and Vladimir Tarasenko? Could the same Kuzya next season to play for the "Washington"?
- I think so. He has everything to do this. We see that the Smiths - the master and understand the game. Good move, skating, the hands. Jack decided to stay for another two years in the "Tractor", and it must be respected.
But remember how at age 18 in "Edmonton" played Nyudzhent-Hopkins. Yes, and then got injured, but in fact showed himself well! Kuznetsov A stronger this Canadian. And would conquer the "Calder Trophy", becoming the best rookie NHL.
- It seems that Tarasenko not take root in the schemes of Ken Hitchcock ("St. Louis"), and the Smiths would sit on the bench in the Hunter ("Washington") that happened in the playoffs with a defender Dmitri Orlov ...
- I was lucky I got to the attacking team. Previously, "Pittsburgh" Michel Therrien led, and he trusted me a lot ... I think the future will still be newcomers to drag. The same Radulov in 2006 was able to tune in "Nashville."
Now, "Washington" shows fine hockey on defense. How much criticized Hunter during regular expressions? But, then, the coach right. The player will also have to adapt to any style. Just imagine that now, "Pittsburgh" will be replaced by a new coach and system. He will say that Malkin has half as likely to go on the ice. What can I do? It is necessary to execute ... So, I'll play the most, helping to protect.
Hunter in the regular season a lot of trust to Kuznetsov, coached a guy. And so it happened with Orlov. In the playoffs would not have to risk. But the experience can be invaluable.
Aynur Vali: - What is the most unusual gift you gave for my birthday?
- Last year a friend composed a song for me, and she sang in the studio, making a video with our common photos.
- What is the chorus?
- What am I - number one - Jack laughs.

"I'd take an interview with Putin"

Aynur Vali: - If you are a journalist, who would have his first interview?
- Oh, how many of these people! - Thought Malkin.
- You are now a resident of «Comedy Club» Alexander Revva tweeted copied ...
- Yeah, but a friend told me what this says a man Revva. Alexander - very busy, for it makes people even tweets. That is, I talked with a clone - Jack laughs.
And I would take an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin. It's funny that I have met with U.S. President Barack Obama, when I went to the reception on the occasion of winning the Stanley Cup. But when the players take Putin and Dmitry Medvedev, the time I was not in the team. Hopefully, after this World Cup will go to the Kremlin.
Michael Jordan, Michael Schumacher ... If I were a journalist, he took a great interview!
Aynur Vali: - Who dreamed of being a kid?
- There was no choice. I am three years of skating, from five - go to the section. I understood that I wanted to become a hockey player. What team was sick? I went to a red baseball cap, "Detroit." Even a fly in it for the NHL Draft. Worried about the Russian Five: Konstantinov - Fetisov, Fedorov - Larionov - Kozlov. Also rooting for "Colorado", was very fond of Joe Sakic.
- What kind of music playing in your player before matches?
- I am for this easy. I even do not have the player. In the locker room usually put a quick music. But I'm in the corner and warm up in silence.
Aynur Wali is not complacent:
- Can you compare the training methods and Bilyaletdinov Baylsmy? It's like heaven and earth?
- It would not say. Hockey is hockey. Just a little different exercises on the workout. But we also grind the majority are working on the game "2 on 2" from the angle of the middle zone ... I can not say that, "Pittsburgh" we promote only the attack. A lot of attention to defense. And at the World Championships, and think about the attack. Do not win because without goals.
Now, if the Russian team played in the series with "Philadelphia", could also be due to 6:3 or 8:4. We've defeated Latvia - 5:2, and how many points flogged? Just less than a box in the NHL, there is more scoring.

"I envy KOVALCHUK LIGHTLY"

Nikatin: - Who is the applicant for "Conn Smythe Trophy" - a prize most valuable player in the Stanley Cup? Given the fact that the "Philadelphia" and Claude Giroux has taken off from the playoffs.
- Yes, we played a great Giroux. And in a series of "New Jersey" did not show hockey, which is expected of him.
I have not watched the last match, only to see the account. But if we judge by the commands, then the "devils" stands Ilya Kovalchuk. He scored seven points, "Philadelphia." Good game show goalkeepers "Los Angeles", "Phoenix," "Rangers", looks cool Holtby from "Washington." I think this year, "Conn Smythe" will give the goalkeeper. In the playoffs they are like kings. The accounts are small and do not give attackers roam.
- It's funny that you put in the finals, "St. Louis" - "Philadelphia" ...
- And both teams lost in the quarterfinals! - Malkin smiles. - I thought it was the strongest clubs. And it turned out, no. Never again will not make predictions!
- There is a sense of mild envy to Ilya Kovalchuk? Man has reached the semi-finals!
- He played in the playoffs, I - at the world championships. I already have a Stanley Cup, and gold with the team yet. Year on year, however. Of course, I'm in a white envy Elijah. But it is not hard. That is if the "New Jersey" will make its way to the finals and Kovalchuk will be there to light - yes!
In general, good luck Covey. For the first time since his team shot at the playoffs. Now Ilya shows his best hockey. Laid out in the defense, often comes in the minority, what surprises me to the core.
Many have criticized Kovalchuk. His first season in the "New Jersey" has turned out horrible. But this year, Ilya took a big step forward and became a versatile player.
- Have you seen what a goal Ilya Bryzgalov missed? In fact, he threw the puck into his own net.
- Said that threw the puck hit the stick and the player, "New Jersey" - said Malkin. I showed him the video. - Oh, the horror ... Now Elijah alive in Philadelphia will be eaten!
Yes, Bryzgalov will have to seriously. But it was necessary to understand in what city you pass over. Everyone knows that there is hot the fans and the press. Maybe worth it to stay in the "Phoenix"? Although there are moments in the career of a hockey player when it is important to make a choice. It is necessary to guess the coaches, the team, the fans.
It was hard to believe that Bryzgalov in the first season to win the Stanley Cup with the "Philadelphia." But there's a good club, "pilots" in the next year have a chance to become champions. Bryz because there will still eight years.
So patience to you, Ilya! And the less read about yourself in the bad press.

"With BEER" TEARS fat "

Stepa5: - How do you feel about the fact that in "Philadelphia" produced beer "Tears Crosby?"
- Haha, funny! Here it is, of Philadelphia. Everyone knows how they relate to the "Pittsburgh" and Crosby. I hope we win next year and release a beer "Tears Giroux."
Ivan: - There is a feeling that you've always played in the "Vanguard." It's great you get in the top three with Perezhogin and Popov!
- I hope this will continue. This is a good forwards. Although we only had three games together. Worked a couple of workouts, talk. We are just doing the installation of a coach. And trying to score when there are moments. That's the whole secret.
Hanna: - You can draw Sidney Crosby?
- That's really what I do not know how, so to paint! I remember in school was given the job of the iso - landscapes, portraits. I could not. I admire artists who are able to transfer to paper what they see. This is a fantastic skill. And I can only draw a tic-tac-toe.
- Many skipped school?
- Just do not. Parents are strongly concerned with my studies. I went to all the lessons. Although it is not digested chemistry, physics, mathematics. But put up and sought to penetrate.
- Is it true that now you have to educate ourselves?
- Once I hired a tutor, who led me homework. I missed a lot in school. I wanted to bring up the literature and Russian language, spelling. Sometimes, that fills any form or write greetings. Stalled, that the place - one "n" or two ...
I do not like to sit down in a puddle. That study, when not playing hockey.

COMPETITION "Soviet Sport"
"SWITZERLAND - CHAMPION OF THE WORLD ... IN MY SUMMER PLANS!"

At the end of the interview, "Soviet Sport" Malkin suggested to participate in an unusual contest. Jack commends the countries that participate in the championship of the world - from the point of view, much better to go during the summer vacation. And then spends between playoffs.
- So who are we playing in Helsinki? - Malkin thinks. - In the first place - France, definitely! I was there vacationing. Extraordinarily beautiful country, especially Côte d'Azur, Nice.
In second place - Belarus. I came back to the Junior World Championships, in which we won. Third - Switzerland, where never was. Yes, there is the Russian national team in 2009 won the gold. But I was playing for "Pittsburgh", and we took the Stanley Cup.
Fourth - Kazakhstan. I have friends there, many told of Ust-Kamenogorsk. We are pleased to have looked to the country.
Generally want to fly around the world! I've been to Finland and Slovakia - are not very impressed. Canada, United States - where I spend the entire season. And it is necessary to discover new places.
- Now a group in Stockholm.
- Because Russia does not count, right? Our country - apart from the competition. Czech Republic and Sweden are well know. But in Italy, look! This is number one. No worse than France.
Second place - Latvia. Yes, there Jurmala. At the Riga seaside breeze is fresh ... Maybe it will take off there on the WHC.
The third and fourth - Norway and Denmark. They say there are very interesting.
- And now the playoffs ...
- Quarter-finals. Kazakhstan beats France. Yes, like this - start with the plot. Switzerland beats Belarus, Denmark, Italy, stops, and Latvia - Norway.
Semifinals will criss-cross ... - draws a diagram Malkin. - Listen, I have it appears that in the final of the Swiss win Latvia.
- Switzerland - the world champion?
- Gold is conquered Russia. And Switzerland - the champion of my summer plans. By the way, Bilyaletdinov there in August wants to collect for the NHL. And do not think that this camp be without Malkin!

Funny Tweet:

Since a Philly company made a beer called Sidney Crosby's Tears, I fully expect a Pittsburgh bakery to sell Ilya Bryzgalov's Turnovers.

Flyer's on vacation now!

Translated article-Yesterday, the main star of the World Cup Evgeni Malkin took part in our traditional "straight line", answering tricky questions from reporters and readers of "Soviet Sport". Today - the first part of the interview.

Question from a reader with the nickname of Sleep: - Eugene, do you think of a misdemeanor Radulov? I mean the violation of his sport mode in "Nashville." Although this Gettslaf, Perry and other Team Canada star lit at three o'clock in the night at a bar in Helsinki ...
- It is hard to judge. I have not talked to Radulov and do not know the whole truth. Maybe he was late for a rebound or was drunk - who knows?
If the rumors are true, then Sasha is wrong - you can not do so when the team fighting for the Stanley Cup. On the other hand, in North America to inflate like scandals, if a person is not a game. But Radulov was substituted by the fact that the regime violated. Although if the hockey player to score points in every game - all on a drum, a bar in which he walks. This guy will be on hand.

- You have the head coach, "Pittsburgh" Dan Baylsma not on duty in the lobby with a stopwatch?
- The NHL all professionals. Sometimes, a quarter of an hour late for a hammering action. Somewhere in the town had stayed for dinner ... If Baylsma met you in the hallway, you might have a heart. But no crime is not here. At least for my six years in the "Pittsburgh," I understand these things, as in "Nashville" is not encountered. Yes, and so on Radulov first traversed. Just because he did not show hockey, which have all been waiting.

Asks Dinamik94: - Congratulations on Victory Day! Who of your relatives fought in the war?
- All the holiday, too! To be honest, I do not know much about their ancestors. Infrequently asked questions such parents. In the course of just what my grandparents went through this nightmare. One grandfather died in the war. Unfortunately, I do not know under what circumstances.
Many of the family worked in the rear. Urals since provided the front tanks and other military equipment.

Question of the Ainur Vali: - What is the most unusual object, which had left an autograph.
- Women's chest, covered with a T-shirt. It happened last summer when we spent a charity match in Sokolniki. Remember, the team played against a team Kovalchuk Ovechkin? One girl came up to me and asked me to sign. I'm a little surprised, but did not deny ...

- You have written on her chest her phone number?
- Only a game room - laughing Malkin.

In tomorrow's issue read the full version of the "straight line" Evgeni Malkin, and you'll learn:
- How he communicates with a fake on Twitter Alexander Revva;
- As Jack promised to come in "Magnitogorsk" during the lockout;
- Release a brand of beer in Pittsburgh, "Giroux Tears";
- Why Gino is in the top three with Perezhogin and Popov as though he had always acted in the "Vanguard";
- Who will be the "world champion holidaymakers" according to Malkin.
