Because it's not a night off, it's a road trip, or a business trip. This is their job, they just can't leave the team because they want to see their girl friend, please these are grown  men who are professionals. They play in Ottawa on Tuesday night, which means they are either flying into Philly late after the game or early Wednesday and then are probably have a late afternoon practice. Do you think Clouston wants his player tired because he flew to see his girl friend, what if every player just decided to leave whenever they wanted to.  Not to mention your talking about trying to get a late flight out of Nashville back to Philly or an early morning one, players don't like to travel on game days.

It makes no sense to me why Mike is not allowed to do what he wants on his night off, as long as he is back in time for his morning practice. I think that is an awfully unfair rule.

I actually think that interview in :LA today was "pre-taped" because she had to go to Nashville to get ready for the CMAS. She will be in LA next week for Ellen and such, so I can't see her flying all the way to LA just for a 5 minute interview. 

So she is either in Nashville gettiing ready for the CMAS, or she went to see Mike this weekend.

Yeah right! What are you smoking. Its seem to me that her career is right now her big priority, not the relationship. I bet that between now and the New Year, they are together only about a handful of days total. And then, in the New Year, she will be on tour for much of the year. By the way, her reviews are no better or worse for this album as they are for all of her albums. Good, but not that great.

IMO i think that part of the reason that Mike and Carrie have been more open about there relationship in the last little while is knowing that the liner notes were coming out and they wanted to 'ease' people/media into the knowledge that they are indeed in love.

I agree with you.  I think that is why he did in interview with The Sens Show too because he needed to open up about her without going through the regular media.  Heck even she opened up about him through her CD notes and not in the public media.

On one of the radio interviews, Carrie was asked what kind of music she is listening right now and Carrie answered that she is into Thousand Foot Krutch.  That is the band that wrote Mike's goal song and the "friend of a friend" connection that possibly got them introduced.  Kinda a nice plug for them (TFK).

Not that it really matters, but I do believe that they met through Mark (her friend and bass player) because his sister is married to Trevor.  So I think somehow between the three of them they connected Carrie and Mike.  So happy for the both of them.

And Carrie is no different than any other female, she's not gonna jinx a marriage proposal.  I'd be willing to bet they've talked about it but I bet Carrie would want the proposal to come in a romantic way and be surprised and all.  She's just like everyone of us!!!!!

Why is everyone so obsessed with thinking they are engaged.  I don't think Carrie is the type of person who would hide that just to sell albums.  And I really don't think being engaged would stop someone from buying an album. They're not engaged.  I'm sure they have talked about it...anybody in their mid-late twenties and in a serious relationship talks about that kind of thing.  It's obvious from her comments and just observations based on their careers right now that that probably isn't in the cards in the near future. But that could change in a few years. Let them live their lives and enjoy the kind of relationship they have now without expecting more.

Carrie Underwood may sing about heartbreak, but in real life she's found love with boyfriend Mike Fisher, giving the hockey player a shout-out on the liner notes of her new CD, Play On.

"Thank you #12," she writes in the notes, referring to the Ottawa Senator player's jersey number. "You are the most amazing addition to my life! You are such a wonderful person and have had such an amazing hand in the building of this album and in the growth of me as a person. I love you so much! You make my life better in every way! Though the couple have mostly remained under the radar, recently they've been more open about their nearly year-long relationship. Last month Fisher talked to The Sens Show, a Web news program for his team, saying the busy twosome work hard to spend time together.

"Obviously it's tough with our schedules to see each other," he said at the time. "But we always find a way to make it work."

She also said she was never with Tony Roma. They were just friends nothing more.

let them just be happy already. these negative comments about mike are ridiculous. he's not as famous and doesn't earn as much money as carrie, but he has a stable job and can more than support himself with his yearly salary. it's not like he's working at mcdonalds for a living. mike is a good christian, volunteers a lot, and is well-respected in the ottawa community. he is also well-respected among the team and the fact that he was promoted to "assistant captain" speaks volumes about his character/dedication/hard work. skill in hockey isn't everything, you need to be hard-working if you want to survive in the NHL.

Mike is not a sub-par player. He has for many years been one of the best all-around centres in the game. While he doesn't put up Sidney Crosby numbers, who does, he plays a tough, defensive-minded game and has also scored about 25 goals a year several times.

Totally agree with that comment.  Im sure Carrie feels bad that Mike has people ribbing and questioning him because of the lyrics in a song.  Its impossible for them to be private but they are doing a pretty good job with the media. They are rock solid and just want their relationship to grow naturally like any normal couples would.  Normal couples do get ribbed by family and friends as to when he's gonna put a ring on it but Fisherwood has the unique situation of the ribbing in the public eye. Im sure its uncomfortable and maybe even embarrassing.  Carrie has been known to makeup answers just to get out of the situation so don't read to much into anything she says in these interviews. The most telling thing is her thank you to him.  It tells how she feels and thats whats true.

She's right..I saw a twitter from someone that sat right next to them.  She was at the game with Mike's mom as they showed her on TV.  They attended the Sens Halloween party I heard too.  Pics will be out there somewhere as they always are and are funny.

How much more confirmation do people need that they are dating and are in a committed relationship?  He confirms, she confirms.  She goes to see him as soon as she gets a free moment.  She says he is irreplaceable, loves him so much and he even does an interview to confirm, which is out of character for him, heck even her.  What else it is going to take for some of you people on this board to understand they are really making it work?  Goodness...give it up and get a life.

I largely agree with you, in that I think that a couple of people are blowing what she said way out of proportion. What do you think that she is going to say to USA Today, "Why yes we are madly in love and are going to get married!" I do think that she was deflecting. However, I still think that these two are not right for each other. I think that he is just a little more emotionally mature than she is at this point in her life and she is consumed by her career, touring, etc. He is probably ready to think about settling down and I don't think she is ready for that. Plus, they live in different countries and rarely see each other. I just don't think that she is ready for a serious relationship yet. They are probably both nice people but I just think that both of them should probably find someone more compatible to their respective lifestyles.

Sounds like this relationship won't be lasting.  I highly doubt Fisher is going to wait many years for this girl. Her career seems to be at the top of her list.  I guess Fisher doesn't mean enough to her and she will lose this one too.  She can't keep them very long, can she?
