He is a terrible hockey player.

gotta get this guy out of center, he can,t cover in his zone,to slow. In the offensive zone he looks confused ,the game,s going to fast for him to pick up, gonna have to move him to wing  simplify his game, maybe he'll look good enough their to be tradeable

The play always dies with Horcoff. He can't pass tape to tape worth a fart. He loses every battle in the corners. He can't shoot anywhere but right into the goalie's crest. His butt buddies in management need a wakeup call, this is a business, LOSE THIS USELESS PIECE OF CRAP

Tom Renny is a human chia pet. He's up for coach of the year. He's trying his best to look like Craig McTavish, with his awesome haircut.

I heard Ladislav Smid was downtown Edmonton raping crackhead hookers. I heard through the grape vine that he pimps out hobo's.

Shawn Horcoff is a shit hockey player, i think he's gay with Ryan Smyth. I seen him and Smyth at Hudson's on Whyte sharing a heart shaped pizza. I'd like to punch Horcoff's long ass nose in because it's so ugly. Ales Hemsky is waste of space out there as well. The oilers should trade him to NBC for the rights of Pierre McGuire.

He's absolutely terrible.  He lacks defensive awareness, can't win faceoffs, gets injured and brings his wingers down offensively.   Thats not even the bad part.  The bad part is that we call this clown our captain.  He's not exactly a good influence on the youing guys either.  Teach Hall and Eberle to miss empty nets will you?  The difference between Horcoff and other NHL'ers is that other NHL'ers actually get good when they practice as hard as Horcoff.

Tampa Bay's Martin St. Louis To Pittsburgh Penguins?

Preview/Prediction

March 02, 2009

A rumor that I had originally written off isn't going away and seems to be gathering steam.

Tampa Bay's Martin St. Louis is apparently the subject of talks between Penguins GM Ray Shero and his Tampa counterpart Brian Lawton.

With the instant cohesion of Jordan Staal and Chris Kunitz, who was brought in to play with Crosby, Shero is looking to add yet another winger to slot with Sidney.

There are many obstacles that have to be overcome before this rumor should gain any validity.

St. Louis has to waive his no-trade clause.
  • Pittsburgh needs to either send someone to Tampa or anywhere else (with a decent salary) to fit the remaining pro-rated salary of St. Louis.
  • Compensating Tampa Bay for the speedy winger.

While it seems these whispers will continue until 3 p.m. Wednesday I'll leave it up to you to decide to get your hopes up of Pittsburgh boosting their already recently discovered explosive offense.

Don't get me wrong, if this happens Pittsburgh will have to be considered a solid contender come playoff time. While they continue to shoot-up the standings after a prolonged slump, this addition would make the Pens a terrifying seven game matchup that can roll three lines capable of chipping in at least two goals a game.

I'm not one to get excited abput rumors and talk, but this has me pretty excited because the talk is reminiscent of the talk that preceded Hossa coming to the Burgh.

Only time will tell.

I agree that Shawn Horcoff is extremely overpaid but that doesn't mean he shouldn't be captain. Having the "C" isn't about your skill. It's about what your like in the dressing room and having the players look up to you. That's Horcoff to this team of young players. He is absolutely not one of their best players but he is the rightful captain.

Horcoff is painfully overpaid  his lack of effort disgusts me the young rooks coming up are looking up to Shawn Horcoff? what a joke I say a hard working well rounded go as hard as he can and does the job everytime should be captain, Ales Hemsky works so hard but is bombarded by injuries because he lacks confidence in his team, wish Horcoff could maybe MAYBE bring it up a little bit so i could see all these other players start to do well as well these other veterans that are going to shit because of Horcoff

It is painfully obvious that Shawn, like  most of the Oilers just dont F-ing care. It started out with the Veterans thinking to themselves, "HEY! Im making tons of money, THIS is the best thing I want to achieve." This is the kind of attitude that not only sinks themselves, but everyone around them.
Their effort could be easily be described as pathetic just like this city's atmosphere.
We had talented rookies who subliminally picked up on our vet's lack of passion and they became what they were a part of.
We should trade Eberle to a team where he can excell before we 'crush' him like we do every other rookie.
I'd wager 5-8 years before this team even comes close to a play-off spot, let alone the cup.
Dont blame the coach, blame a group of guys who aren't passionate about having fun being paid to play the best game on Earth.
Anonymous (Rookie) wrote on Mon, 25 Jan 2010 16:29:54 GMT
Shawn you use to be alright...but seriously, your contract is going to keep this team in the basement for quite a few years, especially if you keep this up. Your plus/minus is -23. That's gotta be worst in the league. If you really want to help this team you should probably just retire.

Shawn Horcoff is the most over paid idiot in Edmonton Oiler history. He doesn't win face-offs, is horrible in his own zone and even worse in the offensive zone. The highest paid player on your team should make others better, not drag them down to your own level!! You are a pathetic! We will be hard pressed to give you away unless we continued to pay your salary!! BRUTAL!!!

well i think we need to trade a few players and we need to either start over for next year or just trade these guys for better players this year,
here is a list of players we should trade before March 3rd,2010
Shawn Horcoff,Robert Nilson,Patrick Sullivan,
Ales Hemsky,Steve Staios,Liam Reddox.
They say that Jaromir Jagr will be coming back to the National Hockey League by the Olympics so don't think were gonna be out of the play-offs yet cause the first team he said he wants to play for is the Oilers and now hemsky is out but as long as we make it to the play-offs Ales Hemsky might be back for the play-offs u never know.so look forward to seeing Jagr back in the NHL this season.

Joey Moss (1963–) is the locker room attendant for the Edmonton Oilers of the NHL. Born with Down syndrome, Moss caught the eye of Oilers centre Wayne Gretzky in 1985, when Gretzky was dating Moss's sister, Vikki. Impressed with the dedication Moss brought to a job at an Edmonton bottle depot, Gretzky suggested to team general manager Glen Sather that the young man be given a tryout.

As the summer of 1986 came around, Gretzky was worried that Joey would lose everything he had learned with the Oilers, so Gretzky called up the equipment manager of the Edmonton Eskimos, Dwayne Mandrusiak,  and asked him if Joey could work with them during training camp. Gretzky even offered to pay Joey's wages for the team. Now with a second job, a second team, more friends and even more work to do, Joey became more and more of an expert at what he did.

Moss's career with the Oilers was destined to long outlast Gretzky's, and his determination and passion for hockey have made him a nationwide celebrity and a major symbol of continuity within the franchise. (In 2006, during a surprising Oiler playoff run, he delayed elective surgery for a hernia in order to see the Stanley Cup tournament through to the finish.) His main duties with the team include cleaning, handling towels and water, and running errands for equipment manager Lyle "Sparky" Kulchisky.

In 2003, Moss received the NHL Alumni Association's "Seventh Man Award" in recognition of outstanding behind-the-scenes service to the league. The Joey Moss Cup, a trophy contended for by Oilers players in an annual split-squad game near the end of training camp, is named after him.

Hello Shawn,

Good luck on your shoulder surgery. Had rotator cuff surgery last Oct. Be patient the first 3 months or so with your rehab. It is amazing how quickly things will progress after that time.
