hello and good morning to all you bruin fans i am canadian, and i am from vancouver. and for tim thomas to decline to go to the white house i can respect that, at first we the canucks were hopeing to get our first cup in 40 years but it didn`t happen, as our changes look even worst this time around. and tim if you read this tell milan, to keep his head high, one day we may get that chance 10 years or more the road. boston was our best chance, but we came up short. i would just like to say to the bruins congrats on your success, who know`s maybe if we have a milan then we will win the cup, maybe one day we will see him in a canuck uniform. wayne symmonds

Tim Thomas is a moron. If he had any pucks in his pants he would have went to the white house and voiced his opinion there. He hides behind facebook and refuses to answer questions. He is a moron who thinks he relevant. By the way there is one goaltender per year that wins the cup. Tim Thomas is nothing special and not even close to a hall of famer.

Everyone says that TT is just exercising his right to express his long held, deep seated beliefs.  That's fine.  My question is where was he during the 2008 election year between Obama and McCain???  Why wasn't he voicing his concerns during that election year???  Maybe it was because he was in the middle of negotiating his 4 year contract extension he signed on 2 Apr 2009 earning him an average of $5 mil per season.   Didn't want to rock the contract boat...  Some convictions, huh...  Give it a rest, Thomas and try to control your rebounds more than your emotions...

As a Canadian who lives in a social democracy, I believe people have the right to express themselves anyway they wish. However, with that said, Mr. Thomas is a public hero to many kids and should be setting examples which inspire kids to grow up to be good citizens. A team appearance at the White House (or in our country the Parliment Buildings) to celebrate the stanley cup victory that every team so clearly desires has nothing to do with Politics. Every winning team, whether it be in Hockey or Football or Basketball parades around the country basking in the glory of their achievement by attending these types of functions. I cannot agree that because of his partisan beliefs that he would boycott this function and leave his team hanging in the wind having to explain away his absence. When people turn everyday things into Parisan Politics it is just a sad commentary on the state of the world.

Tim Thomas is a dick.  Honor the office, just like honoring the institution of hockey and shaking hands after a nasty game.  The growth of the federal debt and government is largely due to Bush II:
- 2 unfunded wars = military spending growth
- unfunded medicare drug benefit = govt health care benefit growth
- massive tax cuts (in a time of 2 wars)
- greed, recklessness and illegal behavior on Wall Street, pre-Obama
Man up Thomas!

I don't know, but I have a hunch that all of this could have something to do with possibility he wasn't eating his cheeseburgers?  Is it possible that his cheeseburger levels were low in his blood causing agitation to not wanting to show up?  I think this is a very possible reason, but we will never know for sure.

Bottom line is its part of his job.  His comments about 'property' were enough.  He's just a republicant who doesn't want to pay his taxes, stinks of the 1% and all that sort of thing- why the occupy movements are happening.

Even as a D- I would show up under the Bush 'war and oil' administration I despised.  Why?  Its part of my job, why I make millions.  Public apperances are part of what I do- off the ice.

Its ok to have an opinion and not like what the goverment is doing right now- but is that the right thing to do- to tell kids and people today- all that matters is yourself?  That's why the world is so screwed up right now- that mentality to be a self centered jagoff- instead of a selfless- respectobale- and honorable- gentleman.

No matter- he retires soon.  Not my fave goalie, just a shame he had to tarnish a good rep like that.

"I'm not that religious but if I had the chance to meet the Pope, it'd be pretty cool,". "I don't believe in everything the Catholic church does, but I'd still show up to the Vatican and say Hi to the Pope.

"I have no problem with his personal beliefs, but (Thomas) can suck it up for an hour, say Hi and be with the team, and avoid all of this.

"Respect the (Presidency). He plays for Team USA and he has no problem making millions of dollars in the USA but he can?t go say Hi to the President.

"You get a lot of benefits living in the US and he should have little bit of respect for that.

This is why people should be b.s'd at Thomas.  He makes 5 mil a year per his contract,  which includes the following two sections:

In a standard player contract in the National Hockey League, the player agrees to the following in exchange for an annual wage from his employer (via Andrew's Stars Page):

"(d)  to co-operate with the Club and participate in any and all reasonable promotional activities of the Club which will in the opinion of the Club promote the welfare of the Club and to cooperate in the promotion of the League and professional hockey generally,

"(e)  to conduct himself on and off the rink according to the highest standards of honesty, morality, fair play and sportsmanship, and to refrain from conduct detrimental to the best interest of the Club, the League or professional hockey generally."

There's no question that attending a White House fete for the team is (d) good for "promotion of the League and professional hockey generally, while detracting from that event due to personal politics can be seen as (e) "from conduct detrimental to the best interest of the Club, the League or professional hockey generally."

Tim Thomas is Benedict Arnold.  Just another America hater.  He doesn't even realize he does a job that does nothing for America.  Sure its fun to watch but does it make my life better? It sure does not fix the heater when its 20 degrees outside.  I wonder if he will be quitting the players union also or is that one of those Liberal ideas he thinks is OK?  He should give up his union card, play for minimum wage and give up his medical benefits like the rest of have done thanks to the Aholes he supports.  Tim Thomas you suck, go to Russia if think Obama is so bad, no body wants you here....and take Limbaugh Hannity Beck with you and all the other Chickenhawks.

LOL! you guys are so sad for making a big deal out of this..and even sadder when all you can do is insult people who disagree with you....you are no better when you do stuff like that..as a matter of fact, you are less because you aren't stating facts or beliefs, you are just rattling off insults..to people you do not know and will never know..on a forum like this..LOL! How gutsy of you.. Get a life! It is not like you are making a difference..go focus on the real issues..

From his Wiki page:

Thomas is a Republican and has stated that the person he would most like to have dinner with is conservative TV pundit Glenn Beck.

Tim Thomas went to the Olympics when Obama was in office. Where was your statement then Timmy? Tell the truth that you just didn't want to shake a black mans hand. How could it be anything other then that when in fact you just went to the Olympics. Makes no sense unless you are a massive racist.

Tim Thomas you are a hypocrite. Why did you go and represent the United States Olympic Hockey team just a couple years ago? The government was just a massive when you wear the flag on your shirt. Whats going on Timmy? You make 5 million dollars a year and don't have to ever pay for a meal/beer in the state of Mass for the rest of your life and you think the system is broken? You Sir are a douche.
