It's too bad Mike Gillis wasn't tuned into Ed Willes' "high mileage shots theory" on Luongo prior to hMG drinking Gilles Lupien's (Luongo's agent) kool aid and opening the team vault for them to pilage like pirates.

It's an interesting theory, and seems logical. Sadly, Reboundo plays a style that has him giving up 5-10 extra rebound shots to opponents every game. He's never been good at absorbing/trapping/smothering the puck, but rather, he fights the puck.

Schneider's stock will only rise after he plays the lion's share of playoff games forthe Canucks. Luongo will be relegated to cajoling, moral supporter to Cory. If they do trade Cory in the off season, they will have to clear out some dead wood on the Canucks roster to make room for the return assets, as Cory's cap hit is well under $1 million.

If Luongo lays yet another egg in the upcoming playoffs, and the Canucks STILL stupefyingly trade Schneider in the off season, look for a mass exodus of seaon ticket buyers and team followers in general.

Pretty sure AV will be using two goalies evenly for the playoffs if they for any chance at this years Stanley Cup. Well said as below. Luongo will never carry a team. He has had multiple opportunities to do so. Nothing but utter failure and disappointment for bot his teammates and fans. It is tiresome to defend his stance in Vancouver.

Brian Elliott of the St. Louis Blues said it best at the all star game: "As a goalie, my job is to stop all the ones I should, and some of the ones I shouldn't" (And he does, which is why he is a top 3 goalie in the NHL). Luongo's biggest PR battle has always been that, even though he does make a few big saves in most games, he still routinely allows "McSofties", or goals that he "should have had" (often by his own admission), at an average of one per game at least. In doing so, Luongo unnecessarily extends games into OT & SO's that should have been won handily in regulation time. In short, he CREATES DRAMA AND EXTRA WORK through his inept play. Most of the Canucks' recent string of OT games should have ended in regulation. As a further example of my point, look at the epic drama Luongo created in the Olympic gold medal game. By allowing Parise's weak last minute goal, Luongo set the stage for Crosby's epic OT goal. Watch the replay of Parise's goalmouth scramble tying goal, and you will see Luongo in his frozen pylon position, rather than attacking or smothering the puck, which is well within reach in his crease, right on his doorstep. Look at the unnecessary drama and extra work Luongo created in last year's playoffs, by single handedly extending the first and last series. He took his team from 3 games to none to OT in game 7 against the Hawks, causing his team to burn a lot of playoff energy they could have used against Boston, who they should have beaten handily in 6 games.

A true playoff goaltender must show a lot of "spine" on the road, whereas Luongo should have "ridden the pine" on the road.  In spite of the wheelbarrows of cash Luongo takes from the Canucks, he is certainly not a "money" goalie. He is not clutch. He has no "finish".

Here's a helpful analogy for you: Luongo is NOT an Eli Manning type, who can carry his team on his shoulders and inspire his team mates to "go to the wall" for him. Instead, Luongo is a field goal kicker who occasionally kicks field goals from 55 yards out, but who also regularly muffs them from 10-20 yards out, usually within the same games, while his backup kicker is perfect from 45 yards and closer.

Yep we all can say "I told you so" only thing av did not do as I said before was to put elfloppo in the rafters but better for him to watch how schneids stops pucks and the team as a whole can play with confidence!

Looks like your disappointed that they won with Schneider in net.  There's a sale on Turd Polish... better hurry... there's a lot of turd polishers out there, like yourself, that are going to need a good supply for the run up to the playoffs.

Reply-to:Everybody can come in here and say well they play better with Schneider in net or whatever but we will see

Look how routine this win was... no OT or SO, just solid and confident goal tending and that confidence spread throughout the team.  Easy win for a change.

It seems that the only time this clown is Half good is when there's Alot of shots taken on him [+35]. When it's hard nosed hockey like the playoffs and the shot totals are not that high is when the this guy falls asleep and let's in two or more soft ones that Helen Keller could probably stop. Another presidents trophy I can see, but Stanley cup, no way, not with this choker!!!!!

Reply-to:Okay you people have a point about solid structure or whatever the case is. But you people have to understand that in order for a puck to get into our net it needs to go through 5 men, and 2 lines! When the defenseman are not doing their jobs than Lou is going to struggle! We have had 145 shots on our net in the past 3 games and weve won all 3 so if someones not doing their job its the lines!
Lunkhead struggles all the time, look at last night perfect clear shot, no one in front of him, no excuses, puck in the net, the one thing a goaltender asks of his other players is "let me see the puck", when there is a 3 man forward rush and one defence man back, that is a tough play for a goaltender, but to say it is the rest of the players not doing there job, bodies smashed into the boards, back and forth, and all over the ice surface, hacked with sticks, and risking injury every time, they drop to the ice to block shots, because they know in the back of there minds that, Lunhead stopping the puck  (Note: I did not say "save the puck") is a not even a 50/50 chance. As to we are winning games, shootout wins are for those incredible great goals/ games, not from weak ass goaltending, as another person had said " this is taking a toll on the players" we are playing 4 Periods of hockey, we are at the top of the NHL, not one of the teams that is not going to make the play-off's, if yo have a DVR look at the facial expressions  of our players when Lunkhead lets in "soft goal" no need to say more, it is called human nature.

You seem to forget,Those other 5 guys You mention, ALSO have a responsibility to put pucks in the other net Too !

Luoser Only has one responsibility, and is rewarded Very well for it ! and that is Concentrate on Only keeping the Puck out of  his Net!!

I am getting sick of Luoser giving up  and looking to draw penalties by falling down, and instead of Scrambling back up after a dive,He lays there just waiting for the Ref to call something. Remeber Boston Loser? That doesnt work! fight for Your crease, dont give up and hope to draw a penalty - Refs dont like to be shown up, especially like a wuss ass like Yourself

How many times did I scream "get back on your feet you ?$&@ clod" ... So we're stuck with him... just don't let Schneis get rusty and totally go with him in the playoffs... it's about winning, not Looo's ego.

Yep a prime example of bad coaching decisions and even worse goaltending! AV splits the sisters to generate a influx of offence keeping the puck away from elfloppo to minimize humiliation...well that was not the answer dicksmash! The answer to this was to park elfloppo in the rafters and run with Schneids! Elfloppo had two go through him that could have been stopped by a beer league tender!!! Another game not needing to go to a shoot out! This piss poor coaching decisions are wearing the team down with extended games which is going to drain the tank come play offs!!!

It does not matter how good or how much you spend on the framing, roofing, windows, siding, ect... when you build a building, what keeps all this straight , solid and strong, the "foundation"
Just like a hockey team, the goaltender is the foundation to this structure, when it is weak and insecure, the whole building tilts, sways, and is unstable. How many times have we seen the Canucks building do this with the Lunkhead foundation. Remember we lost to Boston for one reason and one reason only, Boston has one solid and secure foundation. When our forwards and defence are out there busting there asses off to score , hard fought goals, and the goaltender has one job to do "save the puck" there are going to be times that it does not matter who the goaltender is, there are going to be those great shots, but when these quote single clear vision shots, that any goaltender taught in the true basics of goaltending  cannot save, let alone stop, there is a problem. Think about it this way, a whole bunch of people doing the same job, but some of them are getting payed alot more money, for doing less work, or not doing there job right, day after day, it is human nature, why should I work my butt off,  when I can do the same thing as him. We have all seen this many, many times, crappy goaltending, lack lustre offensive play, and soft defensive play

Another night that we pull off a shoot out win, and another night you people come in here to complain of what went wrong! As always you guys are going to bitch. Whether its a loss or win. Whether we win 10-0 their will still be some sort of negativity as to what wasn't done right. I understand Luo is not the same guy he was a couple years ago and Cory is young and more energetic and at his prime. But you guys have to understand our franchise has 2 great goalies!! So many hockey teams won't ever see a playoff run!!! And look our team has the skill to win the cup so just be happy! Theirs so much negativity!

Since everyone here knows what to do than apply for a position with the Canucks! Than maybe ur opinion would actually matter either way were stuck with Luo as a starter for 7 years!

I would like to add one more thing to my previous post, the embarrassment, that Lunkhead cloaks over us the fans, his teammates, the province of B.C., and Canada, is this BULL**** acting of his. We have all seen this, as the puck goes past him, into the net, and that look and body language, "What, how did the puck get into the back of the net", or the famous  " Jumping up and down and swinging his arms like mad" to the officials, that a player touched me, or the more than Famous " How he looks up, after a goal has been scored, because he was  flopping around like a Tuna out of water, there it is just like the doctors told him he was going to die in a week" we have all seen this. If the Stanley Cup was won by "Best All Around Actor" Lunkhead would be hoisting the cup above his head, every NHL season. To me this is a disgracement , and then we deal with the aftershow, for once own up to it Lunkhead, be a man, tell the truth, and say it was your fault, do not blame it on the " light was in my eye" or "the ice was not good" or my all time favorite " I am still stressed out from the Olympics" come on Lunkhead just for once support your team and the players, and just say " It was my fault and mine alone, It was a great shot!"

First time posting, hi to all that agree, with what I have been saying since this total waste of time goalie came to the Canucks. The bizarre part of this is how Lunkhead even made it to the NHL, he is behind the play by at least a second, he cannot read plays, ALWAYS ON HIS **** KNEES, Drops the puck, REBOUNDS,REBOUNDS!!!! (maybe his pads should be made of temperpedic mattress foam), falling on his face, holds the NHL Record for losing his stick,a 5 hole that you can drive a bus through, looks like he needs a Cane to get up off the ice after a stop ( notice I did not say save, there is a HUGE difference). You all must remember when Crawford had his pet  Cloutier, another LOSER Goaltender, but everyone is saying look at his statistics, who cares, we have all seen our defence, and fowards  dropping in front of the puck, why because they have a better chance of making a save than these to bumps on logs, and where is the Great Cloutier now, the best goaltender we had then was Peter Skudra, and if Crawford had left him alone and let him play the way he was taught and developed  his skills, lets just say there would have been a cup. Back to Lunkhead, how the Canucks Management and Coaching Staff, cannot see the problems with with Lunkhead is beyond me, at least they got rid of the idiot goaltending  coach from BBY/Arizona, the canucks organization, needs to find a goaltending coach who can re-teach the Lunkhead about the basics of goaltending, and then maybe, just maybe, there might be some hope, as the way it is now, forget it, no one in there right mind would take Lunkheads contract, he is proven to fail when his team needs him, this year the only hope we have is Cory, as long as he stays away from any help from the Lunkhead.

Oh that Predictable skid Luongo

They score, then Taunt, and Immediately score. So pahetic and predictable - This is Exactly how the Playoffs of last year went too.Team gets up several goals,Luongo kills the momentum with weak goals. Wake Up Acquilli ( However you spell owners name) This guy will NOT get you ANY further than you have already been.Too Weak,Guesses, Momentum killing sapsucker. Hopefully Tampa will take Him, Rolanson is what 43? We will also throw in Raymond and Ballard ( wow,3 stanley Cup Finalist players) and take 21 yr old 6-6 Hedman. Sign Schneids and get a Top 6 abrasive forward with cap savings - With that move,we could very well be back in Finals
