I'm sorry Tim, but since you do not have a uterus, you should shut your mouth.

Thank you.

Everyone says that TT is just exercising his right to express his long held, deep seated beliefs.  That's fine.  My question is where was he during the 2008 election year between Obama and McCain???  Why wasn't he voicing his concerns during that election year???  Maybe it was because he was in the middle of negotiating his 4 year contract extension he signed on 2 Apr 2009 earning him an average of $5 mil per season.   Didn't want to rock the contract boat...  Some convictions, huh...  Give it a rest, Thomas and try to control your rebounds more than your emotions...

I just typed "why is Tim Thomas such a dick" into Google and this forum came up first in the results. I wonder if Henrik Lundquist has a similar following.

This guy is such an asshole. The kind of player all of his team mates secretly hate because he's such an arrogant dick all the time.

This meeting at the White House was about the team's Stanley Cup win and nothing more.....He should have gone and shut his mouth, it is not about him and he now tainted the whole thing with this bs. Not the time or the place, he needs to stop thinking of himself. Pathetic on his part, and I lost a lost of respect for him.

As a Canadian who lives in a social democracy, I believe people have the right to express themselves anyway they wish. However, with that said, Mr. Thomas is a public hero to many kids and should be setting examples which inspire kids to grow up to be good citizens. A team appearance at the White House (or in our country the Parliment Buildings) to celebrate the stanley cup victory that every team so clearly desires has nothing to do with Politics. Every winning team, whether it be in Hockey or Football or Basketball parades around the country basking in the glory of their achievement by attending these types of functions. I cannot agree that because of his partisan beliefs that he would boycott this function and leave his team hanging in the wind having to explain away his absence. When people turn everyday things into Parisan Politics it is just a sad commentary on the state of the world.

right on thomas you are now my favorite player                                                           Reply-to:Tim Thomas can choose not to go to the White House. However he used the invitation to make a political statement. Thats beyond civility. And hes a jerk. Another millionaire complaining about the USA government. Can you say ingratitude?

Tim Thomas is a dick.  Honor the office, just like honoring the institution of hockey and shaking hands after a nasty game.  The growth of the federal debt and government is largely due to Bush II:
- 2 unfunded wars = military spending growth
- unfunded medicare drug benefit = govt health care benefit growth
- massive tax cuts (in a time of 2 wars)
- greed, recklessness and illegal behavior on Wall Street, pre-Obama
Man up Thomas!

I sure he was asked to make a statement of why he was not attending with his teammates. Obviously it would have been noticed that he didn't attend and questions or why he was not there. He made one statement and said he would not speak of it again. This is not a man on a soapbox.

I don't know, but I have a hunch that all of this could have something to do with possibility he wasn't eating his cheeseburgers?  Is it possible that his cheeseburger levels were low in his blood causing agitation to not wanting to show up?  I think this is a very possible reason, but we will never know for sure.

also hilarious just because he didn't want to go to the white house...his reputation is ruined now......come on people. it's called having an opinion and lots of people have strong opinions when it comes to politics....has nothing to do with the type of person tim is, his reputation or hockey....
Anonymous (Veteran) wrote on Fri, 27 Jan 2012 10:47:29 GMT reply
Politics and Hockey. Shaking hands with the President vs. Shacking hands with players after a game. 2 Totally different things. Totally irrelevant.....NEXT...... Move on people already. This is so trivial to harp on.

i completely respect his right to not want to meet Barack Obama as a personal sign of disapproval of his policies and politics, but the larger issue in my opinion is showing respect for the office. When the leader of our country invites you to meet with him, you attend.

I think the fact that all of the previous posters have exercised the freedom to speak their mind without fear of repercussion is proof that people prefer freedom over constraint.

Peaceful protesting is the most honorable form.  Hate will never overcome love.

To those saying "Tim did good by not putting on fake smile and shaking the presidents hand, blah blah."

How would you feel if Tim Thomas snubbed the Canucks' and the post game hand shake after winning game 7?
Anonymous (Rookie) wrote on Thu, 26 Jan 2012 21:45:59 GMT reply
i applaud tim thomas for NOT going to the whitehouse.  he has his reasons and i wouldn't have gone either.  now if it were an invitation to the playboy mansion...
