Jim Head should be ashamed of himself for the role he played in convincing the NHRA and team owners to move to 1000', when they were the most vulnerable, after Scott Kalitta's tragic death. The majority of fans do not want 1000'. Look at the stands and the TV ratings. And don't bore me with the BS about the economy. People would pay the money if it was 1/4 mile. Since the 1000' ruling drag racing has become more boring, more expensive, and more dangerous. Do you think that Vin Diesel, in "Fast N Furious," should have said "I live my life 1000' at a time?" NO, because the distance relates to NOTHING! Now the cars are accelerating harder than they ever have before. 328 mph in 1000'? Yeah that is way safer, NOT! Wake up people!

HELLO JIM HEAD RACING.Hats off to jim head racing for the 4.08 pass at Arizona. From time to time NHRA commentators point out that head racing uses a conservative turn-up.I think It's working for the 1000 ft racing mark.Head racing is qualifying as well as the corporate teams. Subject: Reading on some racing forms I read that there maybe now or in the future. a shop position may open up.I have been involved. In drag racing from the 70's I have worked as a gofer for racing teams like " the quarter horse"funny car team the "golddigger and the "blue thunder team.I have good work ethics, fast learner and good mechanical skills. I will work for chance to gain knowledge and experience. "No pay" (week end's only) If job opens up please give. consideration. This is a priority in the "bucket list". Thank you.      Jim,

I am a 36 year old Heavy Equipment Operator in Colorado. I recently saw a posting in National Dragster for a position in your shop. I have since lost the issue, but would like to find out more about the position and would like to know which approach would be best for applying. I do have moderate experience with race cars and their components. I do not expect to drive or anything of that nature @ this point, but would love the oppertunity to grow with a very respected team such as yours. I had other asperations early in life but my desires have since changed. I, was also a Civil Engineering student in the mid-'90s. I would love to here from you some day, and be able to follow through with my endeavors. Thank you very much in advance for any concideration.

Don't know if you remember me, I owned Ben's Race Car Parts in Bellaire, TX.(Houston). You used to come in and b.s. with us when you were racing on a local basis. In fact, I remember when you came by and said adious and headed for, I believe, California. Been keeping up with you, you've done damn good for a guy without the heavy sponsorship. Proud of you. Hope everything else in life, other than racing, is going o.k. for you. Good luck this evening. They made a comment that sounded like you were getting out of the sport? Certainly hope that is by choice and not circumstances if you are leaving drag racing. Sincerely, Ben Jones, blj.1039@yahoo.com.

Hey Jim:

Looking forward to seeing in a few days. You sold my wife a car last year at Pomona and you signed it for her in the pits. She did not like the photo I took of you and her so we will see you at the starting line again before the race. She is really looking forward to seeing you.

Have a Great Day

Just give me a chance! Ha HA, you suck. You are all a bunch of middle aged blue collar workers that cant stand the thought of going to work on the assembly line for the rest of your life and think  you can somehow weasle your way into a sweet job. And guess what? Jim dosent waste his time looking at your pathetic ramblings. He has a job! You look like an asshole trying to get a job this way. Have some self respect.

Jim, loved  your Racers For Christ article, will be pulling for you at the track.   Seems like a shiny coat of wax would lower an ET by .005; don't think all the teams do that (helps due to wind resistance).   Also, I think the Castrol in my own Impala is good for another .005--just seems to run faster.  Best of luck in 2011  And Prayers.

After the Wilkerson ordeal last year, and Antron Browns early insident.

Think as fast as they wheel speeds are the Eddy current testing would be Manditory.

I cannot believe that the NHRA is entering another season with pro racing at 1000 ft. It has ruined the sport and I blame the decline in attendence on it as much if not more than the economy. If you take all the runs down the 1/4 mile at every single dragstrip in this country and around the world since the NHRA began and added up all of those who have lost their lives...in a sport where it has to be expected you just might die...I believe the percentage would be so small it would not be worth printing. I will refuse to attend a national event until the 1/4 mile returns.

Thank you.

Mr.Head

I have wrote you before about safety issuses. I wrote Force after Eric medlen was killed.i had drawings that I had made over 4 years of looking and watching the cars run.

To my suprise i got a call from Walker Force asking me questions and telling me that I had put a great deal of time in the drawings and a lot of thought. Then he asked me what I wanted out of these drawings. I told Walker NOTHING if they would use them and give them to all the Funny car teams. I tol him the main reason I sent them to them first is that I feared for Ashleys life and didn't want the tradegy to happen again and to a 22 year old girl. I have a daughter the same age and itbugged me badly.

I also told Walker that the chassis were on the threshold of snapping apart under acceleration. Low and behold it happened to John and it broke at the point that I told them where it was going to happen.

I saw your chassis upgrade and was impressed, but i think you need to look at a couple of spots.

I'm not trying to make a buck . I want to keep drivers from dying in a race car that need not happen.

Please consider talking to me. My cell is 812-455-9771

Home # 812-985-9587  If no one answers I will call you right back.

Funny cars can be super safe so let's make them that way.

And  yes, I would give anything to drive for you.FREE to

Thank you for your time and please take a few minutes to talk to me

Jim I saw the design of yor new Funny car cockpit. Thank you for your common sense. I talked to john Force and gave him drawings to do exactly the same idea as you put into your car. I also stated to Walker Force that Johns car was going to break due to stress AT the point it broke when he was almost killed. I was worried about the thought of his 23 year old daughter was going to be severly hurt and that is why I was trying to help, but it feel on deaf ears. They did call me and ask me what I wanted out of the drawings I sent them though. I told them nothing, I just wanted people to stop being killed in drag cars and nothing else. So thank you very much for using clear common sense that you have shown. I wish I had contacted you instead of Force and maybe he wouldn't ended up in the hospital. Thanks again

Certainly not the preschooler's body-part primer implied by its title, Head to Toe with Elmo simply unfolds the great mysteries of jackets, hats, and shoes. This combo induces plenty of chuckles for Elmo, the scruffy red-furred host who loves interviewing kids, babies, talking clothing, and his (real) pet goldfish. As little Elmo flits about his crayon-scribbled environs, he poses lots of questions to preschoolers at home: "How do you put on your jacket?" "Who wears hats and who doesn't?" and "What do shoes do when nobody is wearing them?" Plucked directly from the highly acclaimed Sesame Street show, each 15-minute segment features a fast-paced blend of video vignettes, goofy Mr. Noodle encounters, Elmo's own purposefully amateur home movies, and laughs for the grownups who might be watching. Not to say Elmo's jokes always fly, but kids can't seem to get enough of this wholesome, curious, and informative critter. --Liane Thomas

Jim, I wanted to commend and congratulate you on the terrific, phenominal and very level-headed (pardon the pun!) interview response you provided to ESPN II's pit reporter Gary Gerould back at Englishtown this year regarding the Scott Kalitta incident.

The intelectual way and manner you presented the facts was awesome and very articulate.....and NHRA must of thought so as well being that it did not take long for them to follow your well thought out advice.  I have that particular interview dvr'd and watch it regularly.  Love the teamstrangeapparel.com Toyota at Vegas this weekend.  Best of luck there and at Pomona.  Mike/Davidsville, Pa

I've been a drag racing fan for a long time.  It's time to have safety the number 1 priority.  I have some safety ideas that I would like to share with you.  I can be contacted by email at FEDFIRE@AOL.COM.  You might be surprised with some of the ideas.  It could seem that we think alike.  Thank You for your time.
