Line of the Night: Yao Ming (5.4). So, the Rockets got a vicious beat down from the Mavs yesterday (96-83). Blame it on the playing-through-an-injury Tracy McGrady. Blame it on the artist formally known as Steve Francis. Just don’t point any fingers at The Chairman, who finished with 28/14/3 and 3 blocks in 42 minutes. Ming was also 8 for 8 from the line and is shooting 87% from the line on the season! Time to add free throw shooting to the list of things that the Chinese do better than us. H

I ended my previous entry by likening government growth to monsters from the H.P. Lovecraft story “The Call of Cthulhu,” but luckily in recent days I’ve also seen a documentary from the libertarian (and Catholic rather than Cthulhu-worshipping, not that I care to take sides in that fight) Acton Institute called The Call of the Entrepreneur that gives one hope for the future — depicting a handful of businesspeople and explaining what they do and why it benefits society rather than rapaciously

Josh Grossberg Tue Dec 18, 9:03 AM ET Los Angeles (E! Online) - Thanks to yet another production hangup, Tom Cruise’s Valkyrie won’t be taking flight as planned. United Artists and MGM have postponed the WWII thriller from Jun 27 to Oct. 3, 2008 to give director Bryan Singer extra time to film a key battle sequence. For Valkyrie, Cruise wields an eye patch and a German accent to play Claus von Stauffenberg, a Nazi colonel who plotted the only known assassination attempt against Adolf Hitler.

Political endorsements are normally worthless, but a neutron bomb of a political endorsement came in the form of Pat Robertson coming out in support of Rudy Giuliani. This caused much controversy, and while I occasionally stop by Michelle Malkin’s blog for a comment or three, I got into a polite but heated discussion today with a social conservative that found this endorsement unacceptable and a betrayal of his conservative principals. http://michellemalkin.com/2007/11/07/robertson-to-endorse
