Here's the announcement from the USGA if you missed it. Doug Ferguson noted this in his story: USGA officials said it was the first rollback in equipment since a brief experiment in the 1930s to reduce the weight of the golf ball. That was deemed ineffective, and the rule was scrapped.Which looks minor really compared to this. Geoff Shackelford has a good recap post of reactions in the media room from players at the PGA Championship to the rules change that has been approved by the R&A and USGA. My favorite reaction, though, is from Masters champion Trevor Immelman. The opening round of the PGA Championship had play suspended due to some unfavorable weather conditions. Lightning and rain kept the players off the course for over an hour late in the day for the first round. Twenty-four players had to complete their first round on Friday and the second round began as planned.
