the man is a legend. lets face it, he's shown more loyalty to aston villa than anyone else has to any other club for years. its amazing, he could've went to a 'bigger' club at from the age of 22 to 27 but he's stuck with us all through his love for the club. he had more reason than ever to leave with david o'leary in charge, and its no wonder he was considering his future then. but now just look at the villa, look where we are. its a massively joint effort but in my opinion the two biggest components that have made us what we are are not ashley young (quality though he is) or agbonlahor (future england number 9) or even the fantastic martin laursen who has been a wall all season. its martin o'neill and gareth barry. our captain and our leader, everything we do starts with him. over the years he's played every position possible but has found his place in the heart of villa and englands midfield. if he decides to leave i wish him the best because he has done us so well. but i hope he dosent go to chelsea or liverpool where he will be another bench warmer, they have enough! if he wants to go then i hope its to join with hargreaves and carrick at man united in a 4-3-3 formation (roon,ron,tev) or a future champions league team like aston villa...... hang on thats not right ;) |
